Pros: Perfect location on beachside
Cons: The staff spent hours chatting by night and we couldn't sleep until midnight, unacceptable. Don't choose this structure if you have trolleys as it is 600mt far from the pier and you have to cross the beach to reach the pousada.

Pros: Nice and quiet location. Perfect for relaxing. There was a mosquito net in the window, which is what you need on this island.
Cons: Rooms is very small if you bring big suitcases. And only one person can be in the bathroom at once because its too tiny.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Cute little pousada, well situated close to the beach walk in Abraão but still far enough that you don't get disturbed by any noise when trying to sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Easy to hike from Abraão to nice beaches on the island.
Cons: A bit expensive considering the simplicity of the pousada, but I guess you pay for the location. There was a sign in the bathroom to please help the planet by not throwing your towels on the ground if you didn't need new ones, so I didn't, but I still got a new towel. Just felt a bit unnecessary. The AC in the room was a bit loud, but not really a problem either.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: super nice and hospitable staff Very funny and welcoming colorful design Amazing breakfast perfect price-performance ratio
Cons: you can't really stay long inside bc it's tiny
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Personal was amazing and really friendly, great vibe breakfast and location.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The guesthouse was so cute and in an amazing location! The table and chairs outside our room was a nice touch as we could have a few beers and play a game of cards there before heading out. 2min away from the pier The rooms are comfortable and very clean. We only booked two nights here, and we were very sad to leave.
Cons: Nothing
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Good location... Quirky front garden. Nice breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Poor welcome... Was on the phone did not welcome us. Room was small and cluttered. Badly furnished with an old, mixture of poor quality bedding. Bathroom sink was not fixed to wall on one side. Possibly it would fall off. Rusty soap rack in shower. The outside light was on all night which made sleeping difficult. To be honest we were disappointed. The property lack a sense of love and pride. We have stayed in budget accommodation before and loved it.
7,0 Good
Pros: Very pretty decor, & the rooms are comfy. Love the paint job & garden!
Cons: Well, manager not there very often. Is only weird old guy who doesn't know anything about the island. Hotel (& everything else ) is jammed in too tight...very claustrophobic !
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and the staff were both friendly and professional. Breakfast also had a good variety of food available. Our stay was rather easy going and pleasant - I’d recommend it.
Cons: N/A

Overview Reviews
When you a stay at Cabanas Paraíso in Ilha Grande, you'll be on the beach, just steps from Brava Beach and Palmas Beach. Featured amenities include a business center and laundry facilities.
6,0 Good
Pros: Location is really beautiful. It’s a secluded beach and if there are not many people at the hotel (especially if there aren’t any kids) it could be quite peaceful.
Cons: Because there’s nothing else but the hotel you are stuck with eating there at night. Restaurant serves a limited range of food and none of it is good. It’s overpriced especially for what you get. AC works only at night, which is OK because energy runs on a generator... but... AC equipment is extremly noisy and you can hear the generator as well, so instead of listening to the waves you hear machines
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Cabins were very simple and very nice. Perfect for an island getaway. Private beach right outside the cabin was great. The food was really nice too
Cons: It rained whilst we were there, which is not their fault, but it made all the tap water brown and smelly
7,0 Good
Pros: The location and beach is beautiful.
Cons: We paid a very high price for a luxury cabana, which smelled like mold, right next to the toilets (smelly) and next to a very noisy generator, which never stopped. The mold smell came from the bed, we learned, as it was covered in mold underneath.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nature of the place ,.can't go wrong with island But miss sold ....
Cons: Basically we contacted the place days before arrival to let them know we would arrive a couple of days later ( due to family issues)..I rang 2 days in a row to only get through eventually 3 days later. (Direct contact seems very difficult and discontinued..they don't always answer the phone). No other means of contact exists btw. Upon arrival the room we were given was not what we had expected. It was dark..not by the sea (as shown in the pictures when we booked) and damp. Because we changed our booking from the 9_15 to the 11_16 we asked to be upgraded. They not only charged the full booking (six nights)claiming booking.com charges commission regardless but also refused to up grade us unless we paid extra for the room we wanted to move to . (May I say there were plenty of rooms empty). My partner was so upset that eventually she upgraded for the last 2'nighrs .(14\15). (I understand the need to charge commission for a full booking but we stayed a night less. That difference should have been refunded or paid towards the upgrade - less the commission which should have been 20 per cent per daily rate. Daily rate was 400 reais ) We paid an extra 260 reais for a two night upgrade) and paid a total of 2400 reais for six nights having only stayed 5 plus upgrade... The hostess is if anything umpleasant...does not talk to guests directly but sends her naive staff and when I asked for a full receipt of the full booking and upgrade and dates we actually stayed at the premises I was told it would be sent by email ( and was asked for my email) as the hostess did not have time then to provide me with this information, which is rightfully mine. She was busy playing with a camera drone. Thing we found extremely unpleasant and intrusive in a private beach per say ... All I want to say is that my partner books frequently through booking.com and such situation has never happened. The hostess"s inability to be flexible and honest is slightly worrying.
6,7 Good
Pros: Perfect location, private beach. Good food, very friendly staff.
Cons: Very dark and damp rooms, no love for guests, WIFI is there but it’s a joke - rarely works - and when it does, count 2h to send a photo. Although employees were very friendly, the general attitude of the owner was unpleasant and not welcoming. We did not feel respected.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Simplicity / nature / beauty / privacy / attendance / hospitality
7,5 Good
Pros: If you want to get away from the crowd on Ilha Grande, this is THE place to be. The location is amazing and the cabanas are right on the beach. The staff is super friendly. The welcome drink, one free transfer to abrao and goodbye/travel goody bag were super nice. The price/quality ratio is great.
Cons: Even though the staff was friendly, only one staff member spoke English. The shared bathroom area wasn’t super clean. The food was a bit too salty.

Pros: The staff was really friendly!!

5,0 Okay
Pros: Very friendly employees the all time from the moment we enter the hotel until we left and the hotel is very clean
Cons: The price of all most 100 euro was not worth it ! because this is very simple hotel with very small rooms and old furnitures and this price is absolutely unacceptable for what this kind of accommodation the offers .

Pros: Good breakfast, great location in front of the beach. Very friendly staff
Cons: Not very clean, difficult to localise, some insects in the room (mostly geckos, but still). Anyway, in line with the average pousadas in Ilha Grande
8,2 Excellent
Pros: staff great to us, price, location, breakfast pretty good, good shower and good ac. even though we could not lock our patio or window there was no security issue i.e. safe. lastly, the staff stored our bags after we checked out, and even several hours after check out they let my wife take a shower after swimming in the ocean during our last day.
Cons: could not completely shut porch or windows and consequently always had a few mosiquito bites and could not completely lock room. towel changes were infrequent.

Pros: The receptionist Elton was helpful, friendly and gave very good suggestions for what to do. The pousada is serene and it was enjoyable reading a book in the hammock. The breakfasts and afternoon teas were tasty and satisfying. Location was great for what we like, set back from the busy beachfront but close to everything.

Pros: Loved the greenery, the birds and the amazing breakfast
Cons: Nicest poussada I seen on the island.

Pros: I loved how you feel completely in the jungle yet are a short walk from the main town with restaurants and bars. The property also had a big focus on sustainability which I think is so important, including water refill and no small plastic wash things. Breakfast was great with lots of lovely fresh fruit and a nice tea and coffee and cake in the afternoon.
Cons: The bathroom felt a little dated and the room was a bit dark however they have done a good job with modern furnishings to brighten it up

Pros: This was our second pick for our island stop over as the Casablanca cancelled on us however this turned out to be better. Book the triple room if available as you get a balcony with hammock to chill on and take in the fab jungle views which we wouldn’t of got at the other pousada. Great staff and the best eggs and lovely ham in the morning we had for our whole holiday.
Cons: All good :)
1,0 Poor
Cons: Very unfriendly staff, unwilling owner, no smile on her face, we felt they don’t like tourists, english language on zero level, owner looked still very ungry. Room was too small and stinky, only bed and fridge in room, no space for luggage..... .The bed too small for a couple, very unconfortable...... .Bed clothes so dirty. We had so much nips from bed bugs!!!!Every morning so much nips from a new bed bugs!!!Air condition was too noisy and placed too high without remote (only manual when I jumped on the bed!!!)Bathroom was same too small. All staff were very noisy every evening untill late morning hours !!!!! I highly not recommended this accomondation.... .

Pros: The property is very nice, it is a good location, a little difficult to find at first but close to the main areas. The breakfast was very good with a lot of variety. The rooms are spacious.
Cons: The owners do not speak any English (we used google translate on our phones).

Pros: We stayed in four different places in Ilha Grande and this was our favorite. It’s a bungalow feel and the breakfast was amazing. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet.
Cons: It’s tucked behind the town but only a very short walk. The rooms are on the smaller side but comfortable all the same.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing room with attached bathroom. Very beautiful setting of the whole place with hammocks everywhere. Super cute breakfast area under a big bamboo umbrella with palm trees around. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Everything was very well maintained and clean. They do your laundry if you like for 8R$ per kilo. Would definitely recommend this place when staying on Ilha grande!

Pros: The friendliest staff, the cleanliness and the great breakfast!
5,4 Okay
Pros: - Breakfast was good - Location is good/ not at the main street - In general friendly and helpful staff, but see also negative points
Cons: - Uncomfortable bed (in particular old/ uneven pillows) - Cracks in the ceiling where light came in all night - Although the hotel lists a safe (without extra charge), they wanted to charge my girlfriend for the safe at check out. Only when I engaged in the discussion it was suddenly no issue any more - We wanted to check out 15min later, they told us that this is not possible without extra charge of 1/2 day rate - To get the room cleaned you need to hang your room key at a board near the reception. However, the reception is not always occupied and thus other guests and non-guests have access to the room keys during the day. - In general, expensive for what they offer
10,0 Excellent
Pros: There was always someone around to help with anything needed. And they had tea and cake available all day which was a lovely little addition.
Cons: Nothing. It was great!
7,9 Good
Pros: Nice garden and location, about 5 minutes away from the pier.
Cons: The room as well as the hotel facilities were quite basic for the price we paid.
6,0 Good
Pros: Just an average place, rather at the back of the village. If you are looking for a quiet place then that is perhaps an option, but in my view it was not good value for money.
Cons: It looked very nice on booking, but the reality was that it vis quite old and the rooms are old too. The A/C was bussing like hell, a lot of mosquitoes (not a surprise in places where water is) but the net was not sealed so new mosquito armada was coming in every minute.
6,0 Good
Pros: Great location. Quiet but close to town.
Cons: Property is dated but is similar to other properties in the area. WiFi was good in the common area but not good in the room.

Pros: The view was beautiful and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. There was generally also a very good vibe with the other guests and it was great to have the deck for breakfast and drinking in the evening.
Cons: Beds weren’t particularly comfortable and some of us didn’t like the breakfast as there wasn’t much choice (bread, fruit, cereal and cake everyday) but still a good standard for a hostel.

Pros: The breakfast
Cons: Arrival - the receptionist was not friendly and treated us like we didn't belong there. She gave no information about Island tours and only after looking over the booking I printed out and showed her did she check us in. No hospitality what so ever. The light fixtures in the room were hanging out from the ceiling with newspaper wrapped around the wiring. This is one of the more expensive pousadas. We will not be staying here again.

Cons: Very weak Wifi

Pros: Location, just overlooking the sea.
Cons: We arrived and they kept us waiting for over an hour and without any explanation or email in advance (we booked the pousada on Oct) made us stay in a horrible pousada next door. They did not apologize and we could not talk to the manager. They would not give us any refunds or compensation for the error they made and did not inform us about. We were very angry with the treatment we received and it definitely made our stay in Ilha Grande disappointing.

Pros: The breakfast had a great selection
Cons: The room smelt damp and the wifi was bad. The hotel is very overpriced for what you get
4,2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms smelled terrible and building works going on. Expensive for a very outdated hotel
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked very much staff. Very polite and friendly, with a good English and advises what to do and where to go. We even could choose the room from two offered rooms. Good location, clean and nice room.
Cons: No vegetables during the breakfast.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast, amazing location, walking distance from everything (restaurants, shops, attractions, services). Nice pool, internet working quite well.
Cons: May be just a little bit overpriced in relation to the overall quality of the room, but it was during the summer, so I can understand that.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location and friendly staff
7,1 Good
Pros: Excellent location just off the main street and pier, easy access to hiking trails and several beaches. Nice pool area. Very good breakfast.
Cons: There are no hairdryers in rooms, you have to ask reception to borrow one - if someone else is using it, tough luck! The shower pressure could be better and the room was really damp - even our clothes and bags got damp, however, while we were there it wasn't too hot and sunny so maybe it's better when the weather improves.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the friendly staff and poolside views for a great price!
5,8 Okay
Pros: Pretty hotel in a stunning location. The staff tried to be helpful when asked but were not very experienced. There was a refreshing variety of fresh fruit for breakfast.
Cons: The room was too small for 3 beds squashed together. There was a smell of wee in the cupboard. The bed spreads did not look like they had been washed. The bathroom shower area and ceiling was full of mould patches. When we asked for an alternative room - the young man at reception did send someone to clean it but no apology or compromise alternative was offered. There was a cat walking on the table cloths in the dining area. It was the worst standard of room, customer service and value for money I experienced during my one month of travelling around South America. There were times in the day when there were staff around!!

Pros: The garden is beautiful and the people are helpful
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice place, nice rooms! It had everything we needed. The staff was nice as well
Cons: First of all, it should be mentioned that there are 300 steps to get even into the hostel, from there there are more steps to get into the rooms (good to know if you are travelling with a suitcase). And it should be ok to mention that the hostel is located in a community (favela). I did not mind this as I was with my boyfriend, but it would definitely have been different would I have travelled alone. But overal I loved the hostel and the staff was great!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Really nice and friendly staff. Room was nice and clean and the breakfast fresh and really good.
Cons: There was nothing to complain about. For some people it might be a bit far from the main street, but we actually enjoyed the quietness and the beautiful way the pousada is built into the nature.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Location is Nice and the outside is beautifull! The island itself is really worth a visit!!
Cons: Really way to overpriced! We had our stay in a small room where, at night, we got company in our bed by some water leaking out of the roof. The windows couldnt close so it was cold. So, at This woken night we couldnt even ignore the discomfort by watching netflix or looking for the next destination by the lack of the promised wifi. Lets not talk about the filfthy bathroom where you cant stay to long because you, as a human being, need fresh air. To bad even the host couldnt wash this uncomfort away by being friendly: saying goodmorning at breakfast is to much to ask i guess. Dont get me wrong:  It would be a fine place to stay for less than half the price. It would fit the expectations.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Vegetation and breakfast
Cons: Too far. Bed. Services.

Pros: Peaceful place, with great hospitality, always willing to help. Breakfast was ok.
Cons: A little bit expensive regarding to the comfort. No air con, bed not really confortable

Pros: The staff were excellent, supplying GF biscuits and allowing us to hang out when it was raining. Room faced the beach and was very clean.
Cons: It was expensive for what it was and the breakfast provided didn’t reflect the cost either.

Pros: Beachfront location Super Friendly Staff Great Breakfast Very Clean
Cons: Lots of mosquitoes however this is the case on the island and not unique to the property
5,4 Okay
Pros: Perfect location on beachside
Cons: The staff spent hours chatting by night and we couldn't sleep until midnight, unacceptable. Don't choose this structure if you have trolleys as it is 600mt far from the pier and you have to cross the beach to reach the pousada.

Pros: Perfect location right at the pier for arriving and coming / going on boat tours. The rooms were fantastic. Breakfast was good, and I like that they asked you what items you wanted beforehand to minimize food waste
Cons: You are on the main drag, so if you are looking for someplace quiet / isolated, look elsewhere. If you prefer convenience and easy access, then this place is perfect
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect. The room has a very nice balcony with sea view.
Cons: A little bit noisy during the night and a lot of mosquitoes
7,1 Good
Pros: The location is good. Amazing shower and breakfast.
Cons: The air conditioning was not working. We talked to the owner, and he said that the machine was brand new. He went to the room, checked the remote of the air con, said it was at optimum cooling level. We had to put the mattress on the floor, in order to keep cooler. If they fix the air con, would definitely stay there again
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel rooms are spacious and furnished very nice, there is an AC, large bed, a couche and an armchair, a fridge. Would be nice to have a safe but I think the island is generally safe. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping was good. The restaurant is really good, the food is tasty and served well in the plate. The portions were the right size. Probably this is the best restaurant on the island in terms of quality. We tried grilled mixed seafood, grilled shrimp plate, octopus carpaccio (yum!) - all was very fresh. Also tried file mignon with green pepper sauce - not bad but meat is definitely inferior to fish on the island.
Cons: We didn't have shampoo in the room, and didn't understand if the hotel normally provides it, but when we asked for it a full bathroom kit was provided. Sometimes it may take them long to serve, once it took them almost an hour to serve the main dish, but it seems common on the island, so we had all our dinners here. The restaurant near this one took 2 hours to serve us lunch and the quality wasn't even good.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very hot water. Fast, individually cooked breakfast was a nice touch.
Cons: Internet was spotty. But apparently that's true across the whole island.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff always helpful and please to attend!
Cons: We know that the WiFi is poor! So is not a complain is only to let new guests that the WiFi sometimes doesn’t work properly
7,5 Good
Pros: Location- excellent, right next to port breakfast delicious
Cons: WiFi wasn’t great & not always that easy to communicate with the staff
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is excellent the hotel staff makes you choose your preferences so they can know beforehand what are the things you would like to eat and drink (and also to avoid waste! most important). The room had a sea view A/C, confortable and king size bed and a mini bar that you can use to save your own stuff or drink (and pay after you leave) what is inside. The hotel staff was wonderful, very helpful and easy to communicate. Last but not least! you must eat at their restaurant they have a very good menu I believe made by their owner who is Italian and they even had T-bone steaks and Argentinian wine. I will love to stay in this place again, oh and I forgot to mention the location is just 5mts from Abrao station
Cons: Wifi does not work so well but in fact you are in an island and that is a luxury, if you really need internet just go to the restaurant it will work fine

Pros: Extremely nice location (close to everything, but with privacy and view on the jungle). Breakfasts arefair enough. We got a bangalow and it felt great. All you actually need for the island.
Cons: Cannot really complain, except that we had an impression of being constantly observed by the owners. Otherwise, we recommend this place.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff led by Cimar, great breakfast, comfortable bed, location near the nature
Cons: No complaints. It’s a simple B&B but who needs luxury in paradise?
7,1 Good
Pros: Staff were really friendly and always smiley. Close location to lots of bars and beach front.
Cons: Our room was pretty damp which made lots of our clothes feel wet. The room was tidied every day but the bathroom wasn’t cleaned and some things in the room could have been cleaner e.g fridge and tiles in bathroom
5,0 Okay
Pros: 1. Aircon works great. 2. Clean room (and cleaned daily) 3. Although the staff barely spoke English, they were at least not rude to me.
Cons: 1. Door handle fell off twice 2. Breakfast is basically ham & cheese toasties, scrambled eggs, sausage stew and... cake (?!) at least the toasties remained after they took away the eggs and sausages, but then the toaster broke and all that was left was white bread slices, cheap ham and cheese. That's when even trying to eat breakfast stopped having any point. 3. Construction going on (well, can't really blame them too much. They've gotta do it at some point) 4. No one at the reception when I arrive, and speaks barely any English. 5. The cleaner left her keys in my door for half a day. Yay for security?! 6. They clean by using a water hose, rather than a mop or hoover (common areas), flooding the whole place for quite a while, making it barely usable.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice little guesthouse. Staff were great and WiFi was super quick and strong. Was nice and clean and nice location next to the river.
Cons: Air conditioning unit didn’t always seem to work. Breakfast choice was quite small and I always had to ask for bowls and cups, so it would be great if they could keep a closer eye on this.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and modern.
Cons: Room very bright and curtains didn’t close all way round so you wake up early. Was noisy at night but only as we stayed over new year, any other time probably fine. The festival from 9pm-2am from 28/12-1/1 meant no sleep pre 1am so not the best time to book into the quadruple room no 8 at this time of year.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast!!

Pros: Everything from the enthusiastic welcome from Rennie the owner, the care and consideration of me as a guest, the tips and advice and lovely staff. If you're looking for tranquility, fresh breakfast with view of feeding hummingbirds, wake up to the sound of tropical birds, be near everything you need and get exceptional help with anything then this is the place for you. Next time I'd like a game of backgammon with Rennie!
Cons: Nothing to dislike but would have loved a wardrobe because I had been living out of my suitcase for several days before.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: What a nice place! You enter a tropical oasis slightly away from the main streets- yet you’re in the village. It suited us perfect! I felt more like a guest staying with a friend than a guest in a hotel. Everything feels personal here. This is Rennie’s dream come true and she will make sure your stay in her hotel is perfect! And it was. I loved everything.
Cons: There’s nothing to complain about. Weak WiFi and not so hot showers is part of being on this island and only reflects badly on me if that’s overly important during a tropical island holiday.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The gardens were beautiful. The food was excellent, as was the coffee, even though it’s not a restaurant you get that great experience. It’s super well located and a quick walk to everything that the little town has to offer.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Aratinga is a fairy tail with its own fairy Rennie. The garden is a dream, you can hear birds from everywhere lots of species. The breakfast is so chic, fresh food and you can watch colibris coming for refreshments while drinking your coffee. Hamacs everywhere to rest, living room. I also met great people traveling there, don’t skip the afternoon tea in order to exchange experience with Aratinga guets. Rennie is amazing, she will help you with everything, she knows the good restaurants and nice bars. I was never upset while following her tips.
Cons: Everything was amazing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is very well organised and comfortable. Rennie the owner was extremely helpful throughout our stay and also very kindly gave my girlfriend some birthday gifts! When we arrived the first few days were non stop rain but Rennie went out of her way to recommend activities. By staying here you get an amazing hotel in an amazing location and also a travel guide included. There is an amazing book with many recommendations for the island and also great afternoon tea with a different home made cake each day. We loved it here and will not stay anywhere else when we return!

Pros: Breakfast was always delicious and fresh and the breakfast room was lovely with hummingbirds to watch outside. The afternoon tea each day was a welcome surprise and also delicious. Rennie was always on hand to give advice on things to do and was most accommodating if we needed anything.
Cons: Rooms could be a bit cleaner.

Pros: We had a wonderful stay here. Aratinga is Rennie and Rennie is Aratinga. One of the most helpful and welcoming hosts I have ever experienced. The room is beautiful and the property is well maintained. Breakfast and afternoon both delicious. We were sad to leave!
Cons: The only thing that could have been improved was the air con, it could have been stronger.
