I liked the atmosphere of the downstairs common space, it felt like a nice place to hang out, grab some toast and coffee and maybe even get some work done. It was unbelievably close to the SkyTree, looking at the map doesn't even begin to show how close it was. I stayed there in order to attend the Sumida River Fireworks and unfortunately, you aren't able to see them from the hostels rooftop but it was so close to the river that it only took me a few minutes to walk close enough to see them. There's a JapanPost right down the street for ATM needs and a station (the Oshiage Skytree Station) just a short 5-10 minute walk to the hostel. The toast was amazing. The parade of friendly doggos who visited everyday was amazing. I'll definitely stay here again, I'll probably just choose a different bed type.
Originally I was assigned one of the futons in the mixed dorm and I liked it a lot. It is a bit noisy however, the mixed dormitory is on the side of the building that the main street is on so traffic noise was loud enough that I thought a window had been left open. Thankfully at night, the street isn't busy so it didn't bother my sleep. My second night staying, a man accidentally booked the female dormitory so when asked if I would be willing to switch to the female dormitory, I figured why not. The bed itself was comfy enough and the street noise was completely removed from the equation. My only complaint is that it was horribly awkward and difficult to get into the top bed. The step things, while aesthetically pleasing, don't make for easy access in or out of the bunks. I'm not the most agile person, so I get that others may not have as much trouble as I did, but I do think some other form of ladder could be used instead. Next time I stay (cause I definitely will!) I'll just make sure I get the futon on the floor or a bottom bunk instead.
our stay was just very short for one night, but I would come back for sure! everything was very clean and the staff friendly. eventhough we woke up after check-out time, they gave us the opportunity to take a shower. if you‘re looking for a cheap place just to sleep and without any fancy stuff this is it!
Person sleeping in the above bunker.
The great view from the rooftop, private space in pretty big cabins, soo lovely atmosphere of the place and great espresso tonic in the first floor pug caffe
Everything was awesome, but it may be better if Japanese breakfasts will be in the caffe menu :)
