I like the room size which is a single room. It's not too small and it is enough for one people with two big luggages. I also like the facilities in a room. There are microwave, refrigerator and electric strove. The woman staff is really nice.
I have to carry my two big luggages go down the stairs to the basement floor(lobby).
It's a nice place, walking distance to the station. Sugamo station is great because it's on the Yamanote line so you can easily access anywhere in Tokyo. There's also the subway which gives more travel options. Jizo Dori shopping street is very close to the hotel, some good options for shopping and good restaurants around. Komeda coffee is also nearby, and a great place for breakfast. The staff was very friendly. You should know this is not a serviced hotel, so they will not make up the room. But they do change towels if you request. Wifi worked ok, shower pressure was good, the coin-operated laundry was handy.
I don't know if all their rooms are smoking, but when I booked smoking was the only available. I don't smoke but I thought it would be ok, it was very smelly though. But then I asked the reception and they gave me some anti-odour spray and it solved the problem.
Stayed at quiet and lovely neighborhood, close to many restaurants and small shops. You can go to Sugamo station only for 3 minutes.
This is one of the most quiet hotels I have stayed at which was great. I don't know if that was because the hotel was not busy or people who stayed here were more working people and not tourists (who are usually noisy). I like the laundry room which is right outside the main door. I like the sink being outside of the bathroom. I also like the microwave and burner in the room.
My biggest disappointment was that every room was a smoking room. Although my room did not smell that bad and they gave me odor remover spray, I had a difficult time because I had sinus problem and whenever I sat at the desk I would sneeze and cough continually. I stayed for a week and it was difficult because of the odor. The other thing guests need to know is that this is the "LCC" (Low Cost Carrier) of hotels. No frills. The Flexstay Inn hotels all have the same system, there is no service: no cleaning, no change of towels unless you come down to the front desk to exchange them, you have to take your own garbage around the building to the back door, no breakfast, the front desk is only open from 9:00-18:00. The problem with the time is that I worked from 9:00-18:00 so it was very difficult to change towels and get new garbage bags from the front desk. There room cleaning and towel and garbage system is based on long term stay facilities, but they have applied the same system to short-term guests. So as long as you expect that the rooms are all smoking and there is no room service, you should be okay. It is not far but still a good walk from the Sugamo JR Station. The washlet toilet spray did not work well, room #308. The bath is very small and narrow.
Close to the train, convenient and clean.
