At the reception we were greeted with a glass of a very good Sekt. The room was lovely - especially to the Nordic taste - a lot of real wood in the interior, and otherwise monochrome tones (incl. black-and-white old photos with a humorous twist). I just loved the wellness-area (there were many lounger-chairs you can also use as swings). The pool is big enough and the temperature helps you to cool down coming from the sauna (maybe a little bit too cool for smaller kids to just swim in there without first going to sauna - if I understood correctly, the sauna was not allowed for kids). Nordic guest will also love the ice-cold-water-bucket in the shower room in front of the saunas. Those who love skiing, will love the opportunity to start both cross country skiing and slalom skiing right from the doorstep of the hotel (in addition, there is a ski rental right next to the hotel) The dinner at the hotel restaurant was exceptional (yum-yum Portwein-Schalotten and Wildschwein-Duo and service was excellent too)!
* Scenery n snow * Decent breakfast
* Not as the description states * Not much things to do * Small pool table
Superb mattress, clean, dog-friendly, good dinner and breakfast
Nothing not to like
This is a much loved hotel in a wonderful location. I’ve been coming back almost every year for many years and it never loses its charm.
Food was fantastic - multiple vegan options for dinner and breakfast had a great range of vegan options too with three different plant milks, plant yogurt, dairy free chocolate spreads and so on. Room was very comfortable - decor not especially to my taste, but all in excellent working order. Many of the staff spoke excellent English, which was appreciated given my little German.
Only a really minor thing! But I had a bit of trouble finding the entrance when approaching from the Westweg, it wasn't clear you needed to climb the steps. I'm sure this is much clearer if you arrive by car rather than on foot tho.
