Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Our Honda Civic drove great, and was perfect for getting us around the island.
Cons: Nothing! We will use thirty when we come back to St. Maarten.

Cons: Pickup was long and crowded. Drop off was almost total confusion. Cars pulled in everywhere on the small lot. Cars blocking the exit so it was the shuttle van couldn’t leave the lot. The car we were given looked like it went thru Irma. The passenger door screeched every time it was opened.

Bad Place To Do Business
Cons: The vehicle given was a disaster. The front bumper was falling off. The car was covered with scratches and dents. We asked for one in better condition and were told they were "reserved". When we went to return the car, the weekly bill was supposed to be $282 and the clerk began to write $582 and when I caught it said it was a mistake, except the same thing happened last year while the year before that our credit card number was stolen and sold to someone in India. I pointed that out and they said that no one there was from India and it probably happened somewhere else. The problem was that, we only used the credit card at Thrift y and paid cash everywhere else.

Our #1 Choice for St Maarten
Pros: Shuttle just outside of SXM Airport takes you to the close-by but drivable distance to pick up your car. Always reserve your car prior to your trip for best price online at Thrifty.com, finding an online discount code for example 10% off. For insurance, if you have an American Express, sign up through AmX prior to your trip for a one-time charge of $24.95 on your American Express upon car rental charge; It covers everything except Liability, for the duration of your rental time (ours was 2 weeks) and safely decline Thrifty's daily insurance charges. (If you think your credit card covers you automatically, you may be very surprised just how little those free included coverage actually covers!) Bring a Contract copy with you. Thrifty is pleasant and they have decent prices. You can find slightly cheaper deals elsewhere, but beware of the extra charges others will likely add on.
Cons: It is customary in St Maarten to sign a blank credit card receipt, just in case the car is damaged or stolen, etc. But they all do this. After numerous years of rentals through Thrifty, we've never had any add-ons we did not expect.

Cons: On returning the car at 6:00 a.m, only one person had arrived for duty. He was fast but was being overwhelmed by the number of clients he had to serve at that time. They were all catching the same early flight at 8:00 a.m.
