Pros: We loved our stay at Monte do Alamo. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The breakfasts every morning were great. The location, just outside Tavira, was perfect. We had dinner with the hosts one evening which was wonderful. They also organised a picnic hamper for us one day and offer a weekly yoga class which we took part in. We also loved their dogs!
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Rosario and Luis are the best people in the world! breakfast, room service, dinner with the guests, the sky full of stars, everything is perfect. Really one of the best hotels in the Algarve.
Cons: Nothing, everything is perfect!
7,1 Good
Pros: The location is ideal for people enjoying a peaceful and green setting, with lots of trees and bushes on the property. The view of the surroundings from the property was very charming. Staff was friendly. The room we booked was facing Tavira, which is marketed as one with a sea view. The room we had was comfortable and not too small. The bathroom to our room had a tasteful and practical design. I enjoyed the company of the two dogs living on the property, one of them being very cuddely and sweet. The breakfast consisted of fresh products, offered on a lovely terrace. They have a great common living room, which is cosy and inviting.
Cons: The matrasses we had were very hard. We understand that there is a tendency in Portugal to use hard matresses, but the ones we had in our room left us with back pains and were the less comfortable we had during our two weeks stay in southern Portugal. In our view, the breakfast offered is targeted at travellers eating a sweet and small one. The concept here is no breakfast buffet, but rather an individual serving. There is a basic serving, everthing else needs to be asked for seperatly. There is generally no meat in any form being offered, apparently because the wasps would be too attracted by it. But aren't wasps also very much attracted by marmelade and sweet stuff, which were available for breakfast? Quantatively spreaking, the breakfast was in our view not sufficient. The quantity of bread offered is kept low. One can ask for more, but the extra serving is kept at an absolute minimum. The pieces of cheese offered is kept at one or at most two pieces per person. Asking for more is also allowed, but the result is also very thin. Altogether, we simply had the feeling that we should be happy to get good ingredients, but we should also be happy with the basic serving. The breakfast experience at Monte do Alamo we had was peculiar, because we booked different accomodations in the Algarve including breakfast, and none were by far as restrictive on the breakfast as Monte de Almo, although this was the most expensive accomodation we booked. Our room should have a "sea view". Well, the room we had was indeed facing the sea, but in the end, we had to look hard for a glimpse of the sea between the leafes of the many bushes and trees in front of our terrace. Other spots on the generous property offered a splendid sea view. I also unfortunatly need to stress the pool, which was in our eyes not very clean at the time we were there. Rosario sent us instructions on how to get the property. Those were in Portugese though, no feedback to my request.

Pros: We enjoyed the attention of our hosts and the delicious food we were served, as well as the rustic outdoor countryside, which reminded us a lot of our country.
Cons: Roads are very narrow, so do not drive too fast around potential blind spots.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful surroundings, lovely pool with views of the hills. Close enough to get to the beaches and hills beyond. Only 30 minutes from Faro and 90 minutes from Seville. The staff were all extremely helpful and had a host of insider knowledge to help us make the most of our visit to this beautiful region of Portugal. Would highly recommend.
Cons: Loved everything about the property. The only downside is that due to its peaceful location, it is accessed by narrow winding roads. A little unnerving if you haven't driven a left hand drive car for a while.
10,0 Excellent

Pros: This was the perfect place to stay, lovely and clean, relaxing and great hosts
7,9 Good
Pros: Very quiet place with very good and spacious accommodations. The bathrooms are very large and well maintained. Breakfast is excellent with very good choices for people of all dietary wants.
Cons: The lower road is somewhat dangerous as there really is only space for a single car if driving an SUV. Even for a regular size car, it's a tight fit for two cars. The upper road entering through the village of Marco is safer and better maintained. WIFI is not available in the rooms , only in the area by the main reception/dining room building.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: location was superb -just the right feeling of remoteness. great, large pool just outside our room was a bonus. we enjoyed talking with one of the breakfast staff, Mergurida, in particuler

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, a lot of choice.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room and excellent powerful shower. The breakfast was included in the price and was lovely, all staff members were ultra helpful from front desk to the guys doing maintenance. They even sorted me out my own lock up for my motorcycle.
Cons: if your wanting peace and quiet this won't be for you there are plenty of kids it is after all a family oriented hotel plenty of 30 somethings with 2.5 kids.
7,1 Good
Pros: The rooms are very comfortable, well decorated and the staff are friendly.
Cons: It is too close to the main road. The breakfast is a little confusing if the room is full and have to wait for refills.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, midway between Tavira and Cabanas with a fantastic shuttle service to both courtesy of the hotel. Staff were excellent, hotel was relaxing with great facilities.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location: this is not a hotel close to the beach, but they do have a service to transport their guests to the beaches of Ilha de Tavira and Cabanas de Tavira (for this one, they include the taxi-boat ticket for all guests). Breakfast: it has a good variety although they could have more fruit options (in my opinion, of course). Cleanliness: the room was cleaned every day and everything was very well cleaned. Comfort: the space was adequate (we were two adults + two children), the bed was comfortable although the couch was not so much (expect what you may expect from sleeping in a couch, I guess). Our room had a small refrigerator that allowed us to store some small bottles of water; the refrigerator has no freezer. Free safe to store your belongings. Facilities: apart from the pool, we didn't use any of the hotel facilities. The pool was very good, and the same applies to the pool space: there were enough pool chairs and even when you didn't manage to get one pool chair, you could always resort to lay down with your towel in the grass (either under the sun or under a shadow). This hotel supplies pool towels, you just have to pay a deposit of 20€ that will be returned on check-out. You may change the pool towels every three days. Staff: nice and competent More things, in general: I never felt that the hotel was overcrowded, i.e., the breakfast room could be full at some time (mostly when approaching the 9:30) and sometimes (very rarely) you could not have a pool chair available but if you waited a few minutes, the staff would get you a table for breakfast. This vacation was a bit more expensive than what I generally spend, but since it includes breakfast (I usually go to apartments) and it was August, I guess it is an "adequate" rate. A note on Cabanas de Tavira: very nice beach, taxi-boats are fast and you don't need to wait too long, we went by car to the village and perfectly managed to park the car at no cost.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: The complex was of very high standard cut off from all external disturbance, every thing needed was at complex, the ferry to Ilha Tavira was ideal.
Cons: Nothing to complain about
7,9 Good
Pros: This hotel is close to Tavira beaches, it is quiet due to its remoteness. The management was responsive to my criticism. Nice pool and territory
Cons: When we ordered dinner a la carte in the hotel's restaurant, the manager told us that we could eat only inside, whilst we wanted to sit outside. I wrote a complaint to their website and the manager met with us and promised that this wouldn't happen again. We we offered free coctails from the regular menu. The hotel is about 5 km from Tavira historical city center, and we commuted every evening to enjoy city night life by bicycles we booked for 15 Euro each through the reception. I would rather stayed in the city, as there are ferry boats to Tavira beaches for only 2 Euro roundtrip (originally I booked this hotel due to its proxomity to the beaches). The hotel offers ferries for 3 Euro roundtrip, although it is a shorter trip to the beaches in a comfortable private boat. Water was very cold to swim in Tavira beaches
8,3 Excellent
Pros: location, breakfast, pool area
Cons: Too many children
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good breakfast buffet and a la carte evening meal. Quiet location. Comfortable room.
Cons: Delayed, inefficient check-in. Mosquitoes in dining room. Lunch buffet was running out of food before end of period. Hotel is too far out of Tavira to walk into town, so you are stuck with the hotel's restaurant if you want wine with dinner. Swimming pool was dirty and the gym minimally equipped. Overall, far too expensive at published rate, but a lot of the guests seemed to be on a package from Spain. I'd suggest investigating there for cheaper deals.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The location, the surroundings and the staff
Cons: Menu is somewhat limited
8,3 Excellent
Cons: Black hair in the bathroom. YUCK
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and quick boat trip to island. Good breakfast selection great pool.
Cons: Air conditioning not good enough, having to pay for the safe , didn't like the soap and shower soap like in the bottles. Needs a little shop that sells papers etc.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: breakfast, nature, Hotel boat to the Beach, Tavire, St luzia, athmosphere, staf
Cons: Information and maps.
7,1 Good
Pros: Location is great, you do need a car or Uber though if you want to go into town!
Cons: Would have expected tea / coffee making facilities in the room and an iron.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, spacious rooms in a very nice colonial setting. Good breakfast and dinner buffet. Good bar. Nice pool, a kids area and relaxed atmosphere, because this is a no hassle place. Not overcrowded whatsoever. Note: the bellman/concierge is an enormous hardworking man.
Cons: It would be nice to have some explanation of your whereabouts as the hotel is out of Tavira. For example a layout of the beaches. Because there's more than the boat to the islands (at the islands all the beds are reserved, so that's a bit of disappointing). For this hotel a car is much appreciated. Then the town is a small ride. Hotel provides bikes, which can bring you past the salt lakes.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Super quiet, relaxing break with great views. Once those big fort doors close behind you, you are in a world of tranquillity with Cecilia on hand to ensure that you have a great stay.
Cons: It is made perfectly clear upfront - breakfast aside (great by the way), there is no catering or formal bar in the fort. There are many bars & restaurants 10 mins walk away. Bring a torch for the walk home in the dark.
6,3 Good
Pros: The fortress is an impressive building. Cecilia is a very welcoming host. Breakfast was simple and good. Amazing coffee.
Cons: There is no direct access to the beach, you have to go to Cabanas and face the crowds to get the taxiboat. There is no meals service available in the fort, you have to drive to Cabanas to have dinner in jammed restaurants - this spoiled the quietness we were looking for. Some bedrooms have no AC which is not acceptable. Bedrooms are poorly furnished: it lacks a coffee/ tea pots even a trash bin is lacking. Mattresses should be better as the bed linen and pillows- standard should definitely be raised. Toiletries are minimal hairblower not available. Lacks information about the fortress. This is a place with a huge potential to provide singular & unique experiences but it needs more imagination and professionalism.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the fort was wonderful - from our host Cecilia to the room and the fort itself. The location is spectacular and in a great position - just a short walk along the beach to a long boardwalk of restaurants with lots of choice and great cuisine. The fort gave us a very relaxing few days. Sitting by the pool under an olive tree up high on the ramparts was so soothing. Breakfast each morning on the ramparts facing the sea made for a great start to each day. When you first walk through the massive wooden doors to the fort the central courtyard offers a spectacular welcome. Cecilia creates such a warm and pleasant atmosphere - it was like staying with a friend! We can’t wait to return.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is a perfect place to disconnect and relax. The location is excellent and the facilities are very tasteful and comfortable. The host is very generous and attentive to guests. The breakfast's view and sunset are divine!

9,2 Excellent

5,8 Okay
Pros: The hotel is very well located
Cons: When you pay 310 euros you expect a bit more of services and equipments(250 the rooms and 60 euros extrabeds for my 6 and 7years old kids) Its totally over priced I totally agree to pay such price Even more expensive if its worth it Honestly speaking in this hotel ... i find it totally unfair...even the breakfast was not that nice They offered us eggs the second day... You have to wait until 9 to get a coffee!.. the mini bar in the room is totally empty... etc etc When you ask price of 4 stars hotel ... it needs to follow You cant just take and not give back... Well it was very disappointing

9,2 Excellent
Pros: - Perfectly located place, by the river, just next to the ferry that will bring you to Tavira Island - in the the old part of Tavira - Hotel owners are very friendly and helpful - Room had air condition - nice view with a quiet street and beautiful Portuguese houses around - the rooftop terrace where you can get some quiet and see all the old city, watch the stars - breakfast included in the price was good enough - couldn't wish for anything more
5,8 Okay
Pros: Not much. The gentlemen at check in was friendly and good.
Cons: Not worth the money. Old and run down hotel with small rooms. Our stay at Convento Sao Paolo was way better and cheaper. Strange prices and bad breakfast staff.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Good location by the river and next to the boats. Clean and nice hotel with sunny terass on the roof. Easy to park on free parking space near hotel.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: breakfast is good. Location is great. Very nice staff. Room with balcony with river view. Good restaurants with tasty seafood dishes.
Cons: Slamming doors by some of the guests, which is annoying in the late evening or early morning. Value for money is not good, I mean we enjoyed our stay and the place is nice, but we felt the room prices were too high for the area, Outside street area gets busy as place is very close to the ferry stop to Tavira island and also due to the restaurants. Beach at Tavira island was full with green algae, not only on the sand but also in the water, which is rather unpleasant. In addition, the sea water temperature was very cold (ca. 17 °C), this was unexpected.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly. A very good location for getting the ferry to the beach and for the town and restaurants.
Cons: Breakfast was basic

Pros: We really liked the quiet location, friendly staff, and feeling of an authentic Portuguese experience. The Space in the appartment was great, bathroom and kitchen are basic but have everything needed.
Cons: Option of Air conditioning would have been great.

Pros: This place offers roomy apartments, a private parking and has been an excellent stop in our journey in Algarve.
Cons: wifi was a bit far away for connecting.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very easy going, large and comfortable rooms, nice as basis to (long) walk to Fusete. Great value for money for active traveller.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Was very Nice, i would come again
Cons: There could be more stuff in The kitchen
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic, about 4 minutes drive from the centre. The pool was great and refreshing, and the apartments are equiped with the basics to provide a comfortable stay and be able to cook a meal or just breakfast.
Cons: We were a couple, but we were given two single beds. Not outrageous, or anything, but it would have been nice to have a double or a queen size bed. Also, the bathroom shower head could use some upgrade and replacement, it was old, plugged with calcarium build-up and spread water everywhere, causing a small flood on the floor, each time. There was a mop and bucket to clean up, but a simple replacement could make it great! There is no WiFi connection reaching the apartments, possibly due to poor range. There is an important safety issue to mention, to avoid a possible disaster. The apartments are equiped with a hot water boiler, the water is boiling, and some of the taps are separate hot/cold, without a mixer. If you open the hot, first, you risk a serious and severe burn!!! Careful with unnatended children, or even yourself!!! This is a safety issue that can be easily avoided, as the boiler is too hot! Thank you for your attention to this matter!
7,9 Good
Pros: The place was really peace and quiet. The apartment was ok except the kitchen which was awfully furnished. The staff Annabelle and Fernanda were so helpful in everything,
Cons: The kitchen furniture was so bad that the drawers could only be opened with a big pull. The bedrooms clean and big.

3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Comunal areas
Cons: The room is a completely disaster super old furniture and matres. Smells humidity we had all lights broken, it was not clean and fresh. I would rather sleep in a camping ..beds super uncomfortable not air con ..super small TV ...
4,6 Okay
Pros: Train to beach
Cons: Long walk to pool or train to beach. Very stroller unfriendly. Too many stairs. Too many people for a small pool. Room was not ready until 2 hours after the normal check in time.
6,3 Good
Pros: Space, very well cared gardens, location, the quietness, great for kids and teens, very good family atmosphere
Cons: Apartments clearly in need of refurbishment. Although there was plenty of room space it’s badly organized. Beds in the living room impossible for a good night sleep, very uncomfortable - with a fixed marble table between two beds leaving no room for movement.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location to the beach n parking
7,5 Good
Cons: Well I'm suspect to rate pedras del rei, once I spend most of my childhood holidays here! So I hold really good memories in here! My only concern it's about what went missing since then.. when I was young there was a playground, there was ping-pong tables, volleyball squads and a lot more green free places that now are built with more accommodations. If I understand the needing of more accommodations, I don't understand why a simple ping-pong table went left.. I don't understand how such a family friendly place remove a playground and install a arcade Arena near by the restaurant's... Another thing that still borders me it's the SUPER EXPENSIVE self-service laundry! 5€ with out detergent! I will always back to pedras del rei because it's still a very special place to me! But I think the organisation could take some ideas about my review for sure more ppl will appreciate!
5,0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: Our aparthotel was not nice. It was old, smelled, people around that were actually living there made a lot of noise. It didn’t match the pictures from booking. We were very dispointed
7,5 Good
Pros: The beach and the landscaping are beutifull
4,6 Okay
Cons: The room I stayed was equipped with very old furniture. The balcony door could not be opened properly. The beds were too small, 90cm, at the wall and very uncomfortable. I payed 102€/ night for this room which is totally overpriced for the size and quality provided. The TV screen was much too small and the chanels provided very limited. NO WIFI in the room which is nowadays unacceptable.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The evening entertainment was great.there was plenty happening, reminded me of a kind of Butlins on the Algarve. Pool was lovely as were the gardens and surrounding areas.
Cons: The accommodation was quite tired and had seen better days but we spent one night only so was ok.
7,5 Good
Pros: Beautiful landscape and beach

Pros: Staff people were the most smiling people we met in Portugal !! They also lended us 2 towels especially for the beach. it is a quiet hotel well located.
Cons: I recommend you to take the breakfast in the hotel, don't go to the bar located two houses far from it, the english breakfast is total ripoff !!!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The warmth of welcome and willingness to help when any requests were made was outstanding - particularly when seeking out emergency medical help.
5,7 Okay
Pros: good position in the centre, but you pay for it! Good and friendly service
Cons: room too small - not for families with more than one child in the same room. Noisy air conditioning and busy street at night, so we had some problems in sleeping
