Overview of Tarco

Tarco is a Sudanese airline that began offering scheduled services in 2009. Operating flights throughout Africa and the Middle East, their primary hub is in the capital of Sudan, Khartoum. Also offering a number of domestic services, it is one of the most prevalent carriers in Sudan and North Africa. Among the countries it flies to are Egypt, South Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Eritrea, Chad and Uganda.

The airline operates a fleet consisting of Boeing, Embraer and Fokker aircraft. The Boeing planes, usually part of the 737 series, are their largest and can carry close to 150 passengers. Dutch manufacturer Fokker has provided the carrier with their F50 model, a turboprop airliner that features six-bladed propellers on the wings. The tail of the fleet is decorated with blue and red wings from the company’s logo, with The Legend of Africa inscribed on the fuselage.

Passengers can choose between Guest Class (the airline’s version of Economy) and Business Class on Tarco flights. Customers traveling on domestic Sudanese routes can bring one bag weighing up to 25 kg (approximately 55 lb), while international services allow for two bags that can weigh 23 kg (approximately 50 lb) each. Snack food and the choice of hot or cold drinks is provided complimentary as part of the service.

A training facility is operated by Tarco, which aims to not only deliver high quality training to the company’s staff, but also provide an educational tool for the Sudanese aviation industry. The programs and courses delivered ensure that the carrier’s pilots and cabin crew are comprehensively knowledgeable of international aviation standards.
