Pros: We enjoyed the comfortable bed and roomy bathroom. We were impressed by Terry our host and his appreciation of the history of this grand old residence as told over a welcome drink. The croissants at breakfast were delicious!
Cons: We were happy with our stay
7,0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: One of the reasons I booked was its reputation for excellent food. However no longer serving dinner as chef moved on. No hot breakfast available just rather meagre continental breakfast. Bit of a disappointment, regretably.
7,0 Good
Pros: The owners 4pm session and summary of life in the house/area.
Cons: There was an adjacent party on Saturday evening that went on till ard 1.30am Sunday morning where we could not sleep at all. It left our stay there and the area not right for the money spent on accommodation. The house is ageing and will require a refurbishment now or in the near future.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The decor ,furnishings & ambiance was very much Victorian , breakfast served & presented beautifully by the pleasant & friendly hosts ,delightful view
Cons: Maintenance was needed in certain areas i.e damp patches on ceilings ,chipped handbasin in en suite ,curtains difficult to close , no fridge

R1 860+
Overview Reviews

7,9 Good
Pros: This property is on two levels. Bedroom with en-suite upstairs. Downstairs was another bedroom, bathroom, living/dining and kitchen. It was warm and comfortable with a gas fire. It included a full kitchen with all cutlery, crockery etc. A combination convection and microwave oven was adequate. The property is scaleable with the proprietors able to lock either of the bedrooms to make it a one bedroom apartment.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The Aldermere Estate Luxury Apartments is a very good modern representation of a Victorian era. Very welcoming with the fire already heating our unit awaiting our arrival. Two ensuite bedrooms excellent as we were two couples travelling together. Well appointed kitchen Great location easy walking distance to wharf.
Cons: No modern technology,no foxtel or wi-fi . A DVD would have been appreciated.
7,5 Good
Pros: Spacious and comfortable, Nice fireplace. TV on the small side and VHS tape player rather quaint[ and obsolete] and no breakfast for the same cost as a Harbour View Room at the Intercontinental Sydney means below average "Value".
Cons: See above.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was good and the gas fire alight and rooms lovely and warm which was great as it was pouring rain and cool. We were able to park the car close to the door and covered verandah made loading the car comfortable in bad weather. After the Gordon river cruise we again entered to find the fire alight and welcoming comfort. Felt this was a thoughtful act. Close to shop and kitchen facilities good. Very spacious room upstairs bedroom and all beautifully appointed.
Cons: It would have been helpful to have had the salt and pepper shakers provided filled. A very minor criticism.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Well presented, beautiful town
Cons: Tv didn’t work and second advertised tv not there. Smoke alarm battery going off but promptly fixed. No staff in sight at check in or out, had to call them.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Greal location, v friendly. Travel tips good
Cons: no internet a v minor inconvenience. Walls to next unit a bit thin.
6,0 Good
Cons: The sound insulation was nonexistent, and everyone could hear either toilet flush and even light footfalls upstairs were audible through the unit. The place smelled stale on our arrival and it was dusty.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 2 nights with our children when this place was first opened in January 2001. It’s a nostalgic trip for us to revisit this time. The room layout furniture remained largely the same elegant way. We feel like home coming.
Cons: The only service to be desired is WIFI.
Franklin Manor - Strahan - Building
5
8,6 Excellent (447 reviews)
R2 062+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Franklin Manor in Strahan, you'll be a 2-minute walk from Botanical Garden Reserve and 10 minutes by foot from Hogarth Falls. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Free self parking is available onsite.
6,0 Good
Pros: exterior view as good as the photos, spacious building of some character, well placed for steam railway and excellent Gordon River trips
Cons: hotel insists on a two night stay at prices far in excess of any others we paid in tas and mainland Australia. We expected a lot more - evening meals no longer available and failed to warn us that we needed to pre-book meals at local restaurants on a Saturday evening. Though mid-summer we needed to put the electric fires on - there's no central heating, and it was too cold to sit in one of the two attractive lounges. we felt the management was relying on past glories - their breakfast was the most meagre, nay mean, we had on the whoile holiday, yet prices far in excess of any others. What bright spark thought to say the breakfast was delicious? No cooked option, no cold cheese or ham, no pastries just fruit salad, cereal, yoghurt and toast. Prices were double those of the Holiday Inn in Adelaide, and $90 dollars more than the superb Miss Maud in Perth. OK west coast of Tas is remote but cant justify this disparity
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: The hot water tap in the shower was a bit wonky and there is an absence of staff, but really I am being a bit picky as I thought things ran smoothly.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was top notch. The staff was extremely friendly. Ideal location in Strahan. Superb mansion.
Cons: Too much noise from people coming late and chatting till midnight in the lounge, 5 meters away from our room.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Proximity and gardens were nice
Cons: Room was dusty and after first night I was coughing all night, could see the dust in the sunlight. Also, no air-conditioning and first fan was like something off a factory floor, noisy, second fan quiet and ineffective.
6,0 Good
Pros: Stayed at Franklin Manor 20 years ago and loved it so was looking forward to staying there again. Lovely staff, but the house a bit tired now. Ordinary continental breakfast . Bit disappointing overall.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Comfortable, clean and Alison was a great host.
Cons: Nothing - all wonderful!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Franklin Manor was very nice. Comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good and Alison was a wonderful host. The toasters were great too
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Noise grom no 14 shower or something
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The chalet was well located and the facilities fine, it was OK
Cons: Too expensive, also the lady running the place was quite unfriendly and seemed to resent (for whatever reason) providing me with the security key for the wireless and was a bit strange when I tried to give her the key as we were leaving (she was standing a few feet away). A bit odd
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Ease of check in, staff very friendly, room was lovely and clean. Close to city centre. Parking outside door. Had a lovely little court yard out side. We were only there for one night, slept very well
Cons: Do not have a comment
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very well presented and decorated motel
Cons: Quite along way out of the main centre of town and costly for what it is, a motel.
6,0 Good
Cons: When booking the room on booking .com said the room had a bath and it didn't No shampoo and conditioner supplied
7,0 Good
Pros: Very kind stuff, all was fine..
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed for one night. Easy checkin and out process. Helpful advice given on checkin. Very comfortable bed and the room had everything we needed. Easy free parking right outside the front door of the unit. About a 15 min walk round the the main restaurants and boat trip terminals. If intending to eat out I suggest you book ahead as there are limited options in town (3 or 4 restaurants) and they will turn away people once they are full. We managed to get a table but some that followed after were turned away.
Cons: Loose towel rail in the bathroom (As in when you tried to hang up a towel one side came right out the wall). A minor point but not expected given the price of the room.

Pros: The village is pretty and Bushby’s restaurant was superb. The view from the bar is fantastic
Cons: The couch and curtains should be burned as they were filthy. The room stank of mould and very stale air. Very disappointing considering the price
7,9 Good
Pros: Good position. Nice water view Ask a lot of questions about what you are getting. This “village” has about 6 different levels of accommodation. Our position had a nice view but tiny and close to those on either side. People were smoking on the balconies next door which came into our room. There are no windows so no way to air room apart from balcony door.
Cons: No windows in the room. Walls paper thin. Noisy. Water systems in bathrooms and toilets next door woke us up.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful harbour views and perfect location. Bed was comfy.
Cons: Wifi was slow
