I didn't like anything.
We visited during a heat wave. The heater pipes and our room (nr 4) were piping hot. We tried coping with it but after an hour or so, around 10 pm we were forced to leave as the only solution the reception had for us was another fan. Add a miserable state of the building itself (this hotel is begging for a renovation) and an unpleasant GM who decided 50 gbp is charge fair enough for a stay in the oven nr 4 for an hour and refused a refund, and this booking made it to top 1 worst hotel stay for me. Do not recommend to anyone.
Reception staff were very friendly. 1st floor rooms were nicely done and clean.
Evening meal was not great however the children’s meals were ok and fairly priced. Family rooms were a little tired and bathroom needs updating.
The member of staff on reception when we arrived was very helpful. The room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of it.
Being woken up at 3.30am by a false fire alarm! Then, when I got to reception, there were no members of staff to give us any information. The rooms could do with a few more drawers.
The location was very central. Very quiet.
Boiler broke down so two mornings with out hot water for showering. Hotel refunded one night for this but should have refunded two. Pool advertised as heated was freezing. Staff were often off hand and not particularly helpful. Facilities were not up to expectations. Breakfast was poor quality. Hotel seemed to be used by lots of community groups- slimming world, bed and mattress sales etc so parking was sometimes poor.
Good food but slow to arrive (three quarters of an hour) Cooked to order rather than buffet was a nice change.
Pool changing room needs enlarging and updating.
