7,1 Good
Pros: For the cost of the stay the service was not of a suitably high standard. Emails and instructions prior to arrival were ignored or not actioned appropriately. It’s a lovely building with great views but next time I’d stay elsewhere and get the same (or better) service and slightly smaller room for a fraction of the price.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, just 15 minute walk to Sendai Station. Staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. When our travel arrangements changed there were only rooms on the Smoking floor available. After one night we couldn’t stand the smokiness and asked to be relocated. They found an alternate room, explaining it would be smaller (which we were happy with) and moved everything for us while we were out for the day. Very prompt response to emails.
Cons: The Smoking floor was overwhelmingly smoky - even the pillows smelt of smoke - but it was our choice to accept a Smoking room when our travel arrangements changed.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent professional staff
Cons: Price of drinks at cocktail bar
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location , service , breakfast options, room view
Cons: My room had spices smell.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very well decorated, spacious with excellent bath and shower. Comfortable and well lit, and convenient, with lovely views of the city from any window. Some very nice juice and food options at breakfast as well. Attentive and friendly staff.
Cons: My wife complained about the lack of an appropriate mirror and lighting for makeup, and I noticed there were no USB ports of any kind available for charging in the room, though the front desk lent a charger readily. Nespresso machine with a selection of coffees is a nice touch, but ours malfunctioned, and either overfilled or under-filled every cup severely. We have one at home, so we are familiar with how to use it, and it was clearly broken.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, good bed, bathroom fine, great views. Staff excellent, really nice bar area.
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Cons: Although it was non-somking room, I had a slight smell of tabacco.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly. In particular, there was a wonderful woman from Kakuda (I'm so sorry, I can't remember her name!) who made us feel at home immediately. Please pass on our thanks to her. She was great!

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Grand and Western style hotel. Very nice grounds, park and lobby. Room is big, we had a nice garden view. staff is very helpful. Indoor parking.
Cons: Location is a bit out of the way without the car; breakfast is not up to the standard of the hotel. Overall great hotel!
6,3 Good
Pros: We were given a very large and comfortable suite although other rooms, well appointed as they are, looked pretty small...
Cons: This hotel, heavily geared to the wedding market, is almost an hour away from Sendai station and the covered market and all the shops and restaurants. There is a rather infrequent shuttle service and beyond that only (expensive) taxi or ride-hailing rides like uber. The large adjacent shopping centre is nothing special really... Services in the hotel are fairly limited and the feeling we got is that its almost exclusively aimed at one-night wedding guests and visiting sports teams. Also, those expecting a western-style breakfast or indeed hotel bar will probably be better served elsewhere.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings and hotel were lovely. Staff are helpful and it is well maintained. The location was good for us.
Cons: At dinner the portions were a little small and over priced.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The terrace garden Near outlet and department store
10,0 Excellent
Pros: > Staff was very very friendly and fantastic, better than I expected. We rent a tent for dinner outside, the dishes were tasty but the weather is too cold for us, the staff gave us blankets immediately. How sweet of they! > An outlet mall and shopping center near the hotel. > The view from our room was great.
Cons: None

Richmond Hotel Premier Sendai Ekimae - Sendai - Building

8,7 Excellent (2 427 reviews)

With a stay at Richmond Hotel Premier Sendai Ekimae in Sendai (Aoba Ward), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Tohoku University and Sendai International Center. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Cozy room, great location
Cons: They put food in individual plastic containers in the buffet breakfast, which was not very environmentally friendly. I could hear the traffic lamp’s sound downstairs during the day. As it is repetitive, it’s quite disturbing. At night the sound is less loud, so it’s ok.
7,9 Good
Cons: Breakfast was not so good..... and not so much to choose between. besides, judging from the breakfast I dont think Richmond hotels prioritize environments so much. Never seen more plastics and single use paper cups in a hotel breakfast before.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, close to the train station and to a lot of stores and restaurants. The hotel was very clean and the customer service impeccable. There is a laundry room on the 6th floor but you will have to pay for washing and drying your clothes and there are a vending machine and a microwave on the 9th floor.
Cons: We were three people (2 adults and one 10-year-old kid) and we were given a very small room with a bed that was barely comfortable for 2 people. Considering that we spent 2 entire weeks at this hotel, I would have expected to be given a slightly bigger room
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect central location, comfortable, clean rooms. The complimentary cellphone with unlimited internet was quite handy. The 24h self-service bar with soft drinks and ice-cream in the hall was quite nice.
Cons: The breakfast is included in the room charge but is quite small and a bit disappointing. I am not sure if it's they're fault or a Japanese policy, but the fact that you have to get into a room to smoke instead of a terrace is pretty annoying.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were a good size for japan and the staff were a lot nicer than they had to be
Cons: No problems, everything was really nice. Shower kind of had a mind of it's own at times but very solid really
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient and friendly!
Cons: None
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, clean and comfortable, free drinks from noon till 23:00 including tee coffee and soft drinks.
Cons: The window in my room was in the direction of the main street. It was a little noisy during the night from sirens, motor cycles, etc.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is delicious especially for the milk, bread and fruit, if there is Japanese food as another choice, that will be perfect. BTW the free drink and ice cream in the lobby is such a refreshment for travellers.

7,9 Good
Pros: Convenient to train station Nice view of rooftop garden Good blackout curtains Very quiet at night even though in a busy area
Cons: Room key should be updated to key card Bizarrely, the hotel wanted guests to leave their key at the front desk whenever they left the property Although our room was nonsmoking, the hotel was smoking & stunk of smoke Tired decor needs updating Very expensive for what it is: we paid the same amount for a much nicer hotel in Tokyo & considerably less for a nicer hotel in Kyoto
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location is great. Just situated next to Sendai station and only 3-5 minutes walk. The room size is big enough for 2 adults and 1 child. We stayed on 17th floor and can see the nice view. Breakfast was nice with variety of food.

7,9 Good
Pros: The staff in front desk is nice. Also the staff feedback very fast and kind while I check room type and rate.
Cons: The room is big but the bed is a little small. They should be able to offer bigger beds with higher rates. It’s a little far from JR station. Luckily the taxi to JR station charges only 700 yen.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Onsen. Parking in hotel garage
Cons: Getting there with a car is a bit difficult.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We weren't here terribly wrong but the staff at the front desk were super helpful and very friendly. They have a cute photo project involving a plush Date. The bed was more comfortable than at the Premier Mitsui I stayed at before this hotel. The room was very nicely sized. They had a well priced room service menu that served late at night. I've not seen that elsewhere.
Cons: The room had a faint smoky smell to it despite being non-smoking. I sort of wish the whole hotel was non-smoking. The washer and dryer at this hotel were worse than at some of the other places I stayed.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very large by Japanese standards, modern and comfortable. Could not fault it. Have had nothing but good experiences with Mitsui Garden Hotels.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the banana black tea and the other tea selections!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Tasteful and cheerful decor, very clean and well lit room, and friendly and efficient staff. The location is excellent with a nearby subway station, several dining options nearby, and interesting shopping at walking distance. We had a great stay!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location was great!! Walking distance to restaurants and shopping area. Really like the Italian BAROLO
Cons: The bed and pillows are too hard. Too firm. It would be nice to have softer pillows. And more towels.
4,6 Okay
Cons: Room design is not practical Bathroom sink too small No place to put my own staff Sofa is too small
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and courteous staff. Nice room. Great breakfast. Good location. Wishes we stayed longer.
Cons: Everything was great.
7,5 Good
Pros: The room is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the location is great.
Cons: The receptionists need to improve their English. One of them can't even understand the numbers. The bathtub creaks when you step on it.

Pros: The bath was really nice! Definitely the selling point for me.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely clean rooms and common areas of the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast start time is flexible and excellent value - really enjoyed it. Also enjoyed the matcha experience offered.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very nice and helpful, they speak a little bit English which is convenient. The ryokan is charming, a little far from the station but with the subway it is not a problem. Everything was clean and I felt well here, I recommend!
Cons: The location is not the best, but that is not something anyone can improve. There is a subway station nearby so don't worry.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the comfort of the room and the classy atmosphere of this Ryokan. Everything in my room and also the communal bathroom was very clean, staff made sure to clean around all the time. I could sleep very well on the futon and enjoyed a lot the green tea which was offered in the room as a complimentary offering. What stood out the most, was surely the breakfast. Breakfast was superb and traditionally Japanese. The onsen was very relaxing. Staff was friendly and very pampering, even though we couldn't have a conversation. Location is alright, but could have been a bit closer to the metro station. Nevertheless, you can easily reach the main nighttime/restaurant area after 15-20 minutes walking and it seemed quite alright.
Cons: Staff could not speak any English, but was very kind and accomodating, trying to make sure I get everything well by giving me English information they have printed out and laminated for foreign guests. Everything worked well, but it would have been great to communicate more! The onsen working times could have probably been a bit longer, but it was alright.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the onsen! And helpful staff providing an extra underlay for the futon.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are just wonderful. Peaceful place, delicious japanese breakfast. Nice hot onsen.
Cons: Room smelled a little, like stale smoke. I think because the windows could never be opened.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Nice and helpful Staff. Room was quiet big and the breakfast really good.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: I booked this hotel because I had already stayed there the last time I was in Sendai. Just like last time the staff was friendly and gave us some extra things to choose from (face masks, additional toiletries, etc) at check-in and all went really quick. This time, just like last time, we were given coupons for free drinks at the Royal Host, that is located right next to the entrance of the hotel. Staff: The staff was just as helpful and friendly as last time. Facilities: The hotel isn't as modern as the one we visited earlier in this trip, but even so it held up to my expectations. We each had a room and enough space, to open our suitcases comfortably. There was a desk, a big TV, a comfortable chair and charger, you could use to charge your devices. They had a Hi cell phone that you could use in and outside of the hotel; I didn't make any use of it, since we bought cell phone plans and had internet of our own. That said, there is a wifi connection and it worked perfectly. The air condition worked perfectly, which was very welcome. Cleanliness: The room was spotless and you could opt to have them not clean the sheets in exchange for a water bottle for each day, that they didn't change the sheets (which I did. I was very grateful for the water bottles, since it was the middle of summer and very hot outside). My friend once didn't have the room cleaned, but got back to the hotel to see a bag with fresh towels, which she appreciated. Comfort: Nothing changed from my last visit, so the bed was as good as I remembered. There's two types of pillows (one with memory foam and a more fluffy one). I slept like a log each night. Location: As I said last time, once you figure out the back alley way to the train station, it's quite close. You have several exists and are quickly anywhere you might need to be in Sendai. All in all it's good value for money.
Cons: The only facility that was a bit subpar was the coin laundry/dryer: make sure to not put too much clothes in it, or the clothes might not dry well. Otherwise everything was just as good as expected since my last visit.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast, a lot of variety of food. Clean room.
Cons: There was small room for 3 people.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location is awesome!! and the staff is supre nice and patient.
Cons: There is a carpet smell in the room and mold smell in the bathroom. but other than that, evenything was incrediable
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet neighborhood, clean room
Cons: None
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Property was a 7 min walk from sendai station. Staff was great! Will definitely stay here again.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel. Location is quite good, about 10 minute walk from the train station and shopping streets. Not all the staff can speak well English, but it was ok. A cool feature is that a free smartphone is provided in each room with free mobile data and local phone number, which is very convenient when travelling. Also free welcome drinks every day (beer or wine).
Cons: Employee could speak better English, but overall it was not much of an issue, and we enjoyed our stay. Since there is a length requirements for reviews, I will add some filler sentence to fill this box. Thanks for reading.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great pillows and pajamas
Cons: Great value for money
10,0 Excellent
Pros: even gave free face masks and bath salts!

Overview Reviews

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved our stay here...from the greeting by staff as we walked in & being given a tour of the facilities, to the best seafood dinner during our trip and delicious buffet breakfast that included local foods from Matsushima and a beautiful view of the bay! Loved waking up to the sight of a bamboo forest outside our window. Also enjoyed the private bathing spas that you can reserve a time for. Fun facilities like ping pong tables, karaoke room, free video rentals & a mini library. We also really appreciated being shuttled to the bayside after check out. The staff stored our luggage while we were sight-seeing the town and even shuttled our bags to Matsushima Station for us when we were ready to depart. Everyone was so courteous & helpful. We definitely want to come back to Breezbay Seaside Resort the next time we are in Matsushima Bay!
Cons: I am very sensitive to smells and didn't care for the strong incense scent as we walked into the hotel.
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Buffet dinner was good first night. Poor second night. Breakfast good Staff excellent
Cons: Room smelly bordering on nauseous. Dirty carpet. Stains on grotty walls. Bed and pillows extremely uncomfortable Steep walk from port area and station
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel found out that I had stayed there in 2018 so they went out of their way to welcome us back in 2019. We just reserved nabe dinner for 4. Instead they served us a feast of shabu shabu with wagyu beef and fresh oysters to welcome us back.
7,5 Good
Cons: Lighting in room not enough
6,7 Good
Pros: The staff was really frienly, even with very limited English.
Cons: Everything was very old, the bed was very uncomfortable. And my view out of the window was just 1m to the next wall, so the room was also very dark. As I wanted to eat in the restaurant in the evening, I was told this is only possible with a reservation, but no one told me that before. And there is nothing around the hotel, so you have to walk a long way to the next restaurant down in the town. For that price I really expected something much better.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: the breakfast is perfect, taste good.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Shuttle bus service to the station which is close to the port and all the beautiful shrines Very nice onsen , one with a seaview, 2 private with mikly water
Cons: The hallway smells cigarette and even in my room when people smoked ..
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner and breakfast. Amazing oysters !
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Located a 5 minute walk from the center and with views over Matsushima Bay this hotel looks simple on its photo but is actually very beautiful on the inside. Rooms are spacious, beds super comfortable and breakfast buffet very extensive. Has a nice onsen too, including two private ones that you can reserve. Staff speaks little English but is lovely and helped us out when we had a problem. Matsushima is gorgeous and well worth staying a few days rather than just coming for the day trip most people do. Good Italian restaurant by the station too (Toto).
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: A bit fa away from station, but easy to find and well, you already know it's not that close while booking, so actually not something I can complain again. It was a nice stay :)
7,9 Good
Pros: The staff were absolutely delightful here. From first storing our luggage before check-in they were very happy and helpful. The hotel is in a great location and you’re just a few minutes walk from some very cool stuff.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit cramped and wasn’t cleaned very thoroughly. They’re the only downsides here.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We had an above average size room with a separate living room part with a couch and television. There was the possibility to indicate if you didn't need everyday room cleaning. Breakfast buffet was varied with lots of choice of vegetables, noodles, rice, soup, puddings etc. We had a very pleasant stay there.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The building was large, and many extra facilities were available in the building. There are also free umbrella rentals for use, which we took advantage of one of the days during our stay.
Cons: Decor is definitely on the older side, but it's a really minor detail. You have to give your key to the front desk if you wanted it to be cleaned which we found odd, and in any other country it'd be insecure.

7,5 Good
Pros: The sauna facilities are good
Cons: The staff can’t find our booking and ask us to go to another Dormy inn Also the smell in the hot spring changing room is no good
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Onsen, breakfast, friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Nothing
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Love the layout of the room - thanks to the sliding door that separates the bedroom it looks like a Japanese apartment! It's also really spacious and clean. Enjoyed Dormy Inn's late night free ramen as always.
Cons: The aircon and bathroom creaked on their own sometimes. The rotenburo (outdoor bath) in the shared bath facility was way too hot to enjoy. I've tried many onsens (including at other Dormy Inns) and the rotenburo water is always slightly colder than the indoor bath but this one felt like I was being cooked alive.
5,0 Okay
Cons: There is only one pillow and one tower in single room. Some staffs are lukewarm.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is superb
5,4 Okay
Pros: The Onsen was good. Great location - on a busy road but you don’t hear it.
Cons: The bed was too small for two friends sharing. This was the only hotel left for the holiday dates and they had increased the price because of this. We had no other option but to pay nearly ¥60,000. This was extremely over priced for a semi double room.

5,8 Okay
Pros: 5 minutes from JR Sendai
Cons: Really old hotel, room was cold as hell, and the hair dryer was like killing my hair. Moreover, for an american couple the check-out time was 10 o'clock while 9 for me. In the papers I got while checking in check-out time was stated as 10 o'clock though. For such a price it was a bit trashy. Breakfast was awful, too
