Pros: I have been staying at the hotel for the past 7 years, since it has opened its doors and always have come back to the place. very attentive and friendly staff with excellent service you will not find in the standard hotels of the town. the restaurant il Bongustaio is definitely one of the best in El Salvador, have not been disappointed in the past few years, outstanding service and location. good for business lunch or dinner with separate room / facilities or for a nice dinner with friends etc.
Cons: n/a
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The property is extremely well run. The staff in all areas are helpful and truly interested in having your stay be a wonderful one. They helped us get taxis whenever we needed to go out and went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable. The breakfast which is included is excellent, with many fresh food choices for different tastes. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The bathroom was large, with a great shower. They have a sitting area where you can get coffee and cookies. The restaurant attached to the hotel is wonderful!
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: I was alone for a few days for a business trip and the place was perfect, lot better than the big international hotels. The design of the place is incredible, the rooms are very nice, the places to work in the garden are really nice too. The bar and the restaurant are generally busy at night, the italian restaurant has really good food. You can safely walk to the Art Museum (5 minute walk), it's worth it.
Cons: The breakfast included is the price is ok.

Barceló San Salvador - San Salvador - Building

9,1 Excellent (2 053 reviews)
R1 750+
Overview Reviews
The Barceló San Salvador hotel offers a novel stay in El Salvador, with an unbeatable location in the country's capital city, close to the Multiplaza, Cascadas and Gran Vía shopping centers, and the city's fabulous Museum of Art.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and clean hotel.
Cons: The personal of the hotel was very polite and professional.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is lovely, very modern. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The room is very large, as is the bed, and extremely comfortable. The showers are also amazing, with hot water always available and the water pressure is great (it sounds like a small thing, but the availability of hot water isn't guaranteed in El Salvador!). Price is also very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. Located within the Zona Rosa, which is a lovely area and very safe to walk around, and has many bars and restaurants. The sports bar was also great.
Cons: Pool was quite small and there were only 3 sunbeds available, which led to arguments between guests and guests reserving sunbeds. There is a large outdoor space so there could easily be more beds added, especially where all the tables are outside the churchill bar.
10,0 Excellent

Pros: I loved breakfast, and all the attention. I broke my ankle so I needed a wheelchair to be more comfortable and they provided one to be used throughout our stay.
Cons: Everything was perfect
6,8 Good
Pros: It was comfortable and it included delicious breakfast buffet.
Cons: The bathroom door didn’t work and our room was next to the elevator so every time someone would use it we would hear it and our room would “shake” a little bit. At the end they wanted to charge us $10 for fast internet which we hadn’t used but the person at the counter helped us with that so we didn’t pay it at the end.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The place is very clean, secure and the ambiance was out of this world. I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to San Salvador. The restaurant was also very clean and the service was excellent.
Cons: I would have preferred a bigger pool. Also, a small fridge would have been nice too.
8,0 Excellent

8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is clean, very quiet and while not centrally located there is a plaza with a number of inexpensive restaurants a short walk from it. Nice little garden. Good breakfast included in the garden included. Wifi was fast, provided purified water.
Cons: The room was small and had to communicate with staff in my limited Spanish.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We felt at home with the luxury at the hotel, we really enjoying our time, specially the breakfast in the garden was remarkable! definetely we are going to come back. Well done to the Arbol de fuego.
Cons: At night was a little noise but we understand is a busy place.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: This has to be one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in - not in a grand way, but as a small, friendly place. It is indeed very green, beautifully decorated, very clean, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast in the garden,. All the staff were friendly, both in communications before we went and whilst we were there. We were at a conference at the UCA, and for that purpose it was ideal. They offered to organise a taxi for us from the airport, which was great and very helpful and saved a lot of time. If I ever get the chance to return to San Salvador, I'd want to stay here again.
Cons: It's in a great location for the UCA, but it seemed a fair way from downtown, so that might be a disadvantage. There are not that many restaurants around, though there are enough, and some good ones too. Where our room was was mainly pretty quiet, but some rooms may be a bit noisier, from the traffic.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The traditional breakfast was so good. Those beans were to die for. I loved that the hotel had traditional Salvadoran candies and other goods to buy. They were very reasonably priced. We were there when the Christmas decorations went up and they were amazing! They use all local goods to make them. They hung them from the mango tree inside and also from the tree outside of the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the trees are amazing. One morning at breakfast, a humming bird was right next to us. The room was comfortable - I could smell the jasmines each time I entered and exited.
Cons: So I normally ask a lot of questions about where I am staying because I like to get suggestions about where to eat, any local things to do, etc. I think the staff could have been a little more knowledgeable. That being said, the staff were incredibly friendly and they did provide me with ice when I needed to ice my knees from a very intense hike which left my knees aching.

Overview Reviews
Reenergize at the pool, gather at the bar, and enjoy thoughtful service, like an airport shuttle-just steps from San Salvador's top shops.
4,0 Okay
Cons: Ac and tv did not work
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean rooms with good equipment; an excellent gym (even if the free weights were a bit old) and fantastic breakfast. Also the staff is very respectful and nice, and very helpful indeed. The pool is a highlight, too! Very close to the way up to the volcán de San Salvador, a big plus. Good value for money!
Cons: A bit far from the center of town and in the middle of a shopping/entertainment zone. This is however only a very minor drawback as the hotel itself is very calm and relaxed.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great service
Cons: Was disgusted to see guests touching food with their hands after blowing their nose during buffets. Would be nice if breakfast buffet included more authentic typical food
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very attentive and accommodating. Clean hotel with beautiful property. Wonderful pool area
Cons: The room felt a little dated. The balcony was just a step.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean. The bed was amazing! The food was delicious.

Cons: -
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a great location. The valet parking is for free for guests, there is a big garden to walk around, and the pool is amazing a big one.. The room is big enough
Cons: No comments
7,5 Good
Pros: Big hotel with a great restaurant and pool. Waiter service to the pool is great. Hookah bar is lovely, and the staff there are great. Interior of the hotel is very nice and modern. Security on the door also very friendly and helpful, willing to go out of their way to try to help the guests. Buffet breakfast with Salvadoran staples was nice, including a table where fresh eggs are cooked to your liking, and pupusas prepared and cooked for you. Very clean and beds were very comfortable. Room is large.
Cons: Building looks a bit dated, could do with a fresh coat of paint. Prices within the bar and restaurant are high. Some basic things, such as plug in sink within our bedroom didn't work, so the sink couldn't be filled with water.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly
Cons: The hot water in the shower
9,3 Excellent
Pros: facilities, room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, helpful friendly staff, lovely pool area, good food in the restaurants and speedy room service - a top quality hotel by anybody's standards.
Cons: I was (unusually) staying over a weekend and Saturday night there was some kind of major celebration going on, beneath my room; very loud music - apparently, this is common at weekends. However, when I raised it with staff this was quickly resolved for me and I was helpfully moved to another room.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: good experience in the hotel

Pros: Comfy bed and room temperature perfect but unfortunately there was a bad smell in the shower area and underneath the desk
Cons: Bad smell under desk and tub area
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great experience !!! There was a problem with my reservation (made for 2, but appeared for 1 person) and the lady on the front desk upgraded my room to the Presidencial Suite without any hesitation... guess I was lucky but if you talk nice to people, they respond with this “compliments”. The hotel has this fancy look even thou it’s small and is shared in 2 buildings but the room was more than perfect. They offer breakfast buffet, which was really good. The restaurant was located next to the pool and the pool was small but enough for a light swim, but I wouldn’t recommend it if traveling with kids since it’s located on the 7th floor (rooftop) and it’s surrounded by a somewhat small guardrail. Overall a good experience and at walking distance of many good restaurants.
Cons: The couple of waiters at the breakfast restaurant keep asking if they could take our plates away, which would be OK if we had finished everything, but we still were eating, it was annoiyng, but wasn’t a big deal.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good to stay for night. Clean place.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really beautiful and spacious. Everything was very clean. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The hotel's location was excellent and I could walk to museums, restaurants, supermarket, etc from there.
Cons: I like curtains that keep the sunlight out, so they don't wake me up too early in the morning. The curtains in the room did let some sunlight in.

Pros: I felt like family at this small hotel. everyone was kind, concerned and helpful. The back patio for breakfast and dinner was an oasis of calm, which one needs in San Salvador. Clean rooms, wifi, hot water, bottled water, quiet location within walking distance of their World Trade Centre. Breakfast kept me going most of the day. This is a great hotel to use as a base for travels throughout the rest of EL Salvador. Dont miss Juayúa. mark from Toronto
9,5 Excellent
Pros: the garden its beautiful, the warm environment.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful hostess. Helpful, friendly, and always cheerful. Breakfast was great. We thought it was bananas and cereal. My daughter wanted pupusas, two minutes later we heard the slapping sound of pupusas being made. Then come the eggs and beans and juice. It was wonderful. Clean, fresh flowers, relaxing garden courtyard. Small but friendly just they way we like it. It felt like staying with family
6,8 Good
Pros: The staff are very friendly and ready to help even when they are not conversant in English.
Cons: The location of the hotel is slightly confusing even to the local and regular taxi person too, if you go from specific main road, it is very easy to approach the hotel, but if want to reach the hotel from backside or other alternative routes then it is really trouble. Three of my Uber taxi have to cancel and one of the taxi where I am inside got so confused and had to try for nearly 15 minutes to reach the hotel only after going to the specific road from the main road and that too after talking to the hotel staff.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The complimentary breakfast papusas were good. The staff was extra helpful. Had good hot-water pressure. Location is near a grocery and mall. Within feasible walking distance to Zone Rosa attractions. The neighborhood is quiet at night, sleep is sound. Air conditioning works well. The patio area is nice to hang out in.
Cons: There are only 3 or 4 menu items for the complementary breakfast, so if you plan to make a longer stay take that into account. There is a grocery nearby though. Not really any facilities for cooking your own food, but admittedly I didn't ask. Though the hotel is within walking distance of popular Zone Rosa restaurants and bars, it's not a "short" walk. Taxi may be advisable at night.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Add bananas to breakfast.
Cons: The eggs to breakfast.

Cons: breakfast was included, but not the drink... only @25.00 total... but still.. should of been told
8,3 Excellent
Cons: No electric plugs near bed. Couldn't charge my phone on the nightstand or work comfortable from bed, had to go to the desk. Walls are thin, not even loud noise, just average talking on the hallway could be completely heard and a bit of a nuisance.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very professional and friendly. The breakfast and coffee perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone going to San Salvador.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Morrison Hotel is in a safe area with grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Reception ordered us a taxi and we had a great walk through the historic Center. When the other restaurants were closed for Easter, we were able to eat at the Hotel Restaurants.

Pros: Location
Cons: It is OK but may not suit Australians.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: Place not very clean and very basic (not even an hairdryer available). Very disappointed on my second day when I had just a banana for breakfast because they ran out of milk for the cereals and not even orange juice was available. I do not eat salty breakfast and couldn't eat the other menu available (pupusas/scrambled eggs/beans). Wifi not working properly.

Pros: The Galeria, restaurants, grocery store etc... all are within a 3 block radius. Rooms are very clean with quiet good a/c, bed comfortable. The singular impression I have about the Morrison is that this is a place anyone, certainly a single person will feel at home. Breakfast is included and very good. The restaurant prepares other meals if you do not want to go out.
Cons: Cement block makes for sound reverbration, filling with sand would have solved this.

Cons: Service was efficient and doorman was helpful but reception could be more friendly There was a lot of noise from outside because of the bars nearby
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Hot water. Security. Helpful staff - let us leave a bag for a few weeks pending our return. Our room had a sweet courtyard outside.
Cons: Nearby bar was very loud quite until quite late.

Pros: breakfast very good
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and cozy place
5,8 Okay
Pros: Location that’s it
Cons: The hotel doesn’t have amenities
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Charming hotel located in a very safe area of San Salvador, excellent staff, nice cozy room with a nice little terrace. Great stay for those on a budget.
Cons: MAJOR CONCERN: One of the pillows had a sewing needle in it, if I hadn't felt it first with my hands it could have ended badly. LESS concerning is that the bedframe isn't part of the actual bed so it doesn't fit quite well and some movements cause it to bang against the wall. Also the bar in front of the hotel plays live music from 9 until about 11pm so beware of that.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is located in the safe and pretty zona Rosa. In zona rosa there are so many restaurants and places to visit. The staff is great and even helped me order delivery food.
7,5 Good
Pros: Cold AC, hot water and a firm bed. What more can you ask for?

5,0 Okay
Pros: Location for doctor appointment at the nearby Women’s Hospital.
Cons: The beds were so hard and uncomfortable. Very surprised. When you see it online it looks nice and it’s a very old and outdated hotel.
7,0 Good
Pros: Great food, very clean pool and hotel over all, friendly staff.
Cons: The beds were a bit old but besides that very good expirience.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Overall the property was good, nice and clean room. It has everything we need. Breakfast is really good.
Cons: It’s the first time a hotel which offers a living room inside your room, does not allow you to have visitors for a couple hours. Not only that, but they lied saying it was property policy and couldn’t prove it. Very very rude.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good facilities, very nice restaurant by the swimming pool, very good breakfast, comfortable beds (large size).
Cons: Drainage of the shower blocked. Still not repaired after my return despite specifically asking for it.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly
Cons: Breakfast
6,3 Good
Pros: Considering San Salvador standards, this is a good and real hotel. Beds were comfy. Selection of TV channels was good. Reception area was nice and, overall, I liked the way in which staff handled things while checking-in and checking out. They even helped us when we needed to change a one-hundred dollar bill (it is rather difficult to pay with these bills in El Salvador, outside hotels).
Cons: Breakfast was not as good as I expected. Food was bland and options were few. Ham looked like a paste, more like Gerber baby-food. I decided to go somewhere else to have breakfast even if the price of my room included it. Our bathroom had a peculiar odor, particularly during the night, it was a kind of foul odor which accompany us during the whole of our stay at this hotel. Lifts were working but looked a little bit old and some cracking sounds started when the doors closed.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Restaurant staff was friendly and good
Cons: The room was uncomfortable and not too clean. Bedding was overused and smelled bad. Room smell bad. The bed mattress was so hard that I ached all day.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly, especially the waiters!
Cons: Lack of security in outside parking around the building.

Cons: Promptness to notify the hotel about my booking
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly, everything a traveler needs. Good price on my dates
Cons: -
4,5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was ok
Cons: The staff can’t speak English. I should not have been allowed to book this hostel, the location was really bad for a solo traveler, my tour guide advised me not to leave the hostel unless I had a local with me, which meant I had no food options, and the reception staff spoke no English. The aircon, WiFi and electricity went down in the morning. I went out for the day and came back and they had moved all my stuff from one room to another. My clothes had been creased and my old rooms door was left open, I had left my passport and spare money under the bed, which they had left in there and not transferred to my new room. There was dogs barking all night, very noisey. Not a nice place to stay!
