I love the view! it was so wonderful to stay by the beach! The beach became too crowded around 12 so we retreated to the hotel. It was so wonderful being so close to the beach but still being able to social distance. The front desk handed out masks and hand sanitizer which was a really nice touch. I'm a nurse and my partner is a doctor and we really respected the way this hotel was handling things.
Literally steps from the beach. Very friendly staff. Beautiful courtyard
Room smelled like a public restroom, room cleanliness was questionable at best. Dustbunnies hanging from the ceiling, splatters on the ceiling and walls in bathroom- definitely did not feel comfortable. Very small/old rooms. Especially considering the price. Location is great proximity to the beach but the area is packed with homeless people. Did not feel safe walking around even during the day time.
Loved my time at OB Hotel!!
It is a perfect spot near the beach, plenty of shops, dining within walking distance. People are laid back, friendly, welcoming. Beds are comfortable. Staff is amazing!!! Courtyard is beautiful! Well worth the $$$$.
The improvements are a work in process. Can tell that they are gradual which is good as it keeps the prices realistic. Thank you for keeping character and charm! It is a true beach hotel that fits well with the area.
I loved that we were so close to the beach. You could hear the waves crashing in the morning. Staff very friendly. Free parking was always available even during the busy Memorial Day weekend. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely go back.
The floor/ceiling is thin between the first floor and 2nd. The group upstairs were loud and partied late on Friday and Saturday. We didn't inform the front desk so maybe no one else heard. Bathroom was small. I think if there were shelves or hooks even, that would help instead of laying things down on the toilet seat or sink.
The proximity to the dog beach it's a plus. The room was small by the courtyard for one person and two dogs. Comfortable bed, tasteful modern furnishings. Needs a microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Love the patio with the view of the Ocean, but not the homeless and hippies been loud and obnoxious but I guess this is been an on going issue in Ocean Beach. I stayed six nights and the last three nights was lots of partying at next room, and the person on the other side of my room was snoring very loud that kept me up. The courtyard is nice, with tables and beautiful fountain in the center with nice views of the Ocean. The hotel only offers coffee in the morning, I think continental breakfast should be included for the price. The hotel attracts young crowds who like to party and be inconsiderate for the rest of the guests. It's a non smoking hotel but smoking is allowed in the courtyard and the room patios. I could smell the smoke from people upstairs smoking and throwing the cigarette butts a ashes over their balconies. The location it's a plus for beach goers and surfers, dog lovers, young people but not so much for relaxation.
Good choice for OB visit
Good location. Relatively quiet (except for being in the flight path). Convenient to all Ocean Beach shops & restaurants. Room is basic but comfortable and clean.
Great place to stay in OB
Small, clean rooms. Not much in the way of in-room comfortable seating space. Nice area in the courtyard with seating around tables. Bathrooms are small - be careful you don't hit your head on the sink when you're on the toilet. Still, I'd stay there again. Location, location, location.
Great location. Next to a fabulous brunch place and less than a 5 minute walk from beach and restaurants. Super comfy bed.
door was a little rusted and there was only a shower instead of a tub/shower.
Location was ideal for beach and eating and shopping
A little too pricey for what you got but location made it bearable
The location was great. The view is awesome. Very quiet and friendly. If you wanted to bring your pet they are great with that. Second time staying there and will be staying there again in the future.
Not worth the money paid for
Then ocean view
Amenities. Very poor standard. I felt like I was in a 2 star hotel in some third world country. That place could have done better. The bathroom felt filthy. And what's with that air conditioner beside the bed?
All about the location
Right on the beach. Close to all the restaurants and shops. Staff was very friendly. Free parking. Nice courtyard. We will stay here again but will pay the extra money for the king ocean view rooms.
Very old, run down looking room. Needs updating. We reserved a regular queen room. The 1 window in the room looked out onto a brick wall (which was painted with a beach scene). The bed was definitely NOT a queen and was VERY uncomfortable. If you check in and they try to give you room #112, ask if they have ANY other room.
With immediate beach access and location in an iconic neighborhood, the Ocean Beach Hotel offers laid back San Diego style in comfort. Literally just steps from the ocean, this 56-room hotel gives guests an incredible opportunity to enjoy fun and relaxation.
The Ocean Beach neighborhood is known for being light and fun and the recently renovated rooms at the hotel reflect its surroundings. Rooms can be found facing the courtyard, but the truly spectacular rooms and suites have panoramic views of the beach. Pet friendly rooms are offered as well, plus the hotel is a short walk away from Dog Beach so furry friends can enjoy the San Diego fun as well.
The hotel offers many amenities, including free parking, though the staff likes to brag that the area is so much fun that most guests never move their car during the stay. Besides direct beach access, guests can also stay connected with complimentary wireless Internet. Great for exploring the neighborhood, the Ocean Beach Hotel also offers bike rentals to its guests.
Although the hotel has no restaurant on site, they’ve partnered with many surrounding restaurants to offer special rates to guests for all three meals of the day. While the beach is incredibly alluring, the neighborhood offers plenty of attractions. The hotel is just five minutes away from SeaWorld and only 15 minutes from the famed San Diego Zoo.
Modern, laid-back, and relaxing. The perfect words for San Diego culture epitomized in the incredibly enjoyable Ocean Beach Hotel.
