9,2 Excellent
Pros: A well-decorated, cosy hostel, conveniently located a few steps away from Gur e Emir (very handy when getting a taxi because drivers in Samarkand don’t have a great knowledge of the city)
Cons: Toilet didn’t flush properly.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Room was comfy and wifi worked well. Breakfast was tasty and large. Staff were helpful. Well located beside Gur e Amir.
Cons: The breakfast courtyard had a lot of flies! Tour prices to Shakrisabz were very high, as was the cost of the taxi arranged to the train station.
8,0 Excellent
Cons: It's winter now so many places are doing work on their facilities. So I was able to forgive the mess.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Super central location right in the heart of the old town and close to the new parts of Samarkand. The internet connection was reasonable as was breakfast, which is cooked on order (eggs/porridge/rice pudding) and served in the courtyard. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was good value and the location was superb.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location The room is clean and the bathroom is good Hotel employees speak English
Cons: There is none
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Near to Emir monument but we have to walk quite far to other attractions like Registance square, Bibi and Shah i zinda.
Cons: There is no kettle in the room. We need to ask for hot water from their kitchen. We think the heater not well functioning on our first night. It is stop in middle of the night. Very cold! But it normal on the second night.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff are very helpful. They even provide 2-way transport to and from the train station for free.
Cons: The hotel only accepts cash no credit card facility. I didn't check the hotel's payment policy before hand but thankfully I had enough cash with me. The hotel accepts US dollar too.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Brilliant breakfast. Lots of local places around the hotel for dinner. Nice quiet area (for Samarkand).
Cons: I've got to say, the room was pretty crappy, and the bed was the worst I have ever slept in (and I've stayed at a lot of hotels) with a huge divot right down the center of the mattress. I realise that hotels often have sub-standard rooms which are let out at lower rates, but I paid USD50 a night for a room matching photos on tripadvisor, and the room I got was nothing like these. It was located down in the basement with a couple of very small high windows (no view), a toilet that ran water the whole time and THAT mattress. Other than these issues it's a nice hotel and if you're lucky enough to get a standard room then good for you, otherwise very poor value for money in my opinion. It's on the tour group circuit so things do get busy at breakfast, and quite a hike from the star attractions of Samarkand.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The warm welcoming attitude of staff, comfort level of room and very convinient location. The friendly staff was very professional in attending my needs and guiding me about the places I wanted to visit. The pick up and drop off at the train station was a great help.
Cons: No toasts at breakfast but that was not a big deal. There were other equally good traditional breads.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It would be better to them to have visa card system
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful stuff. New and comfortable rooms.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good bathrooms
Cons: Bed are rock hard
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Head of desk very helpful. Great value for money
Cons: All good
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We really liked this hotel. Our room was large, modern, cheerful. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. The breakfast room was large and pleasant. Several things made this hotel stand out: 1) the lovely fountain courtyard with tapchans; 2) the lobby bar; 3) the complimentary welcome drinks on arrival; and 4) the complimentary shuttle/taxi service to/from the train station and to the Registan or any other historic site in the city once a day.
Cons: The location is a little far if you like to walk to the main sights. Blackout curtains would have been nice in the room. At 6:30 am, sunlight made it impossible to sleep any longer. In the breakfast buffet, food items were replenished slowly as was the supply of plates and cups, so a bit of waiting was involved. Just a little more attention is needed to ensure there are adequate supplies of food and utensils for all guests throughout the entire breakfast time.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, very close to attractions. The personnel is very friendly, I was speaking Russian to them, therefore have no idea if they speak any English. The breakfast was alright, we were leaving very early in the morning, but the staff gave us a breakfast bag to take with.
Cons: We travelled in winter and there were not too many tourists in the house (if any except us) so the heating was off, but we had our own radiator in the room which was enough to keep the room warm after being on for a few hours, although the toilet was very cold to be in.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were helpful with any questions and were very kind. Offered me tea plenty of times. Location is definitely great, a few mins walk to the Registan, which is helpful even at night when u want to see the light show at the Registan.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old-style hotel with a good atmosphere and a nice roof terrace. The owner was very welcoming. (By the way, bring with you clean dollar or euro bills, not British pounds.)
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are very friendly and keen to help out. The location is excellent for Registan and many sights of Samarkand.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location is great, nice courtyard
Cons: Small room, if the weather is cold and rainy that‘s the only place to stay is the small room, owner was not accommodating
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Guest house with lovely decoration and nice structure like tree house. Convenient to Registan Square. The owner was kind and gave me a lot of breakfast at the early morning checkout.
Cons: Nothing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is small with excellent facilities. Breakfast was very good, much better than what I had in other similar hotels! The manager is very helpful and goes out of his way to make sure that his guests are comfortable.
Cons: Nothing
7,1 Good
Pros: Great location. Beautiful place with nice seating areas in the courtyard. Private bathroom was all fine, floor heating was excellent! Breakfast was plentiful.
Cons: The mattresses were extremely soft. Upon our request they changed the worst mattress (after telling us that this is just normal), which helped a bit but the main problem was the bottom mattress which seemed to be stuck to the bed? There was a constant gasoline smell in the courtyard. We slept in a room downstairs which was quite noisy in the morning. Laundry was $7, expensive. The staff seemed to be annoyed by questions sometimes, at other times they were very helpful.
4,2 Okay
Pros: Location is good. Walking distance to the Registan
Cons: You can't move on the bed because it makes crazy noises. Bathroom was horrible.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location was great - very near the Registan; the owner was very helpful
Cons: I requested a large double bed instead of two singles but the room had two singles

Pros: Timur and his family are incredibly friendly. We stayed in a new room which is far better than the ones in the photos. So our expectations were very much exceeded. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes from the Registan. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious. And again, did I mention how friendly the people here are? Wonderful place and recommended!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, very nice Location, directly close to Registan !
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Timur really is great! The newly renovated rooms are beautiful, comfortable and modern but still retaining an Uzbekistan charm. The location is only steps away from the Registan. I felt like I was in a five star hotel. The service and breakfast were wonderful, rooms serviced daily with fresh towels given, hot and cold drinking water and tea available, and they will also do your laundry for a very reasonable price. Very happy with my stay here, great value.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: One of the best residence in the trip. Very good location. Walk to the registon square in 5 minutes. Cute and kind staff helped us about everything. Very good breakfast and very warm room(even a little bit hot :))
Cons: The only trouble we met was the electricity although I don't think is the problem of the hotel. However when we arrived, the dark little street and silence behind the closing door made it a little scared. It turned out the city construction caused the power cut and fortunately electricity came back very soon.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Timur and his daughter are wonderful hosts. This little B n B style hotel is right in the centre of Samarkand within walking distance of the main sites.
10,0 Excellent

Hotel Caravan Serail - Samarkand - Bedroom
6
8,0 Excellent (354 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Situated in Samarkand, this property is within 3 mi (5 km) of Gur-Emir Mausoleum, St. John Roman Catholic Church, and St. Aleksyi Orthodox Church. Registan Square and Sher Dor Madrasah are also within 3 mi (5 km).
7,5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, they also let us spend quite a bit of time in the hotel lobby once we'd checked out which we appreciated! The hotel can order in pizza for you which was really handy!
Cons: Whilst the front of the hotel looks great and has recently been renovated, the rooms themselves are quite tired and run down. Our rooms were on the ground floor and looked directly out onto another street and courtyard meaning we had to keep the curtains closed all the time. The shower curtain was divided in two which meant water went everywhere in the bathroom which was a bit of a pain.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in the old part of the city and all main sights are within walking distance. The hotel and rooms are relatively basic but clean. Breakfast is ok, quite typically for the region. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Only the bathroom was quite old.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Splendid location, close to absolutely everything. I walked everywhere all the time. The room was very clean, and the overall hotel is very pleasant. The whole hotel has a nice local vibe, with a bit of post-soviet designs in the rooms, but that’s the flavour of a trip such as to Uzbekistan. Breakfast was great, staff super attentive and welcoming. Overall, I can thoroughly recommend the Hotel Caravan Serail, it offers great value for money in a very good standard.
Cons: Toilet needs to be cleaned, or replaced. It’s a bit old, but it’s a minor issue.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Very friendly and helpful front desk manager
Cons: Room was smelly, bathroom tiny and needs renovation, my room's window opened to the street on street level. People are literally walking 1m from your bed.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, courtyard and breakfast were great. Helpful staff a great asset!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: the location was very good close to most major sight like the Registan and the bazar all in easy walking distance ! The staff were very very helpful with planning outings and other things.
Cons: communication could have been slightly better .... the phone to the hotel was not always available... but all worked out like clockwork
1,0 Poor
Pros: The staff is nice and helpful, the breakfast is also good. Everything else is a nightmare.
Cons: The bathroom is TERRIBLE, barely big enough to fit one standard sized person. The hot water takes like ten minutes to get to temperature. The sink tap sprays water everywhere. The toilet brush was broken. At a certain point even the light stopped working (but they changed it afterwards). The toilet paper is awful and, as the tap is broken, water falls on it and it's constantly disgustingly wet. The bathroom's door handle was also broken. The toilet occasionally smells AWFULLY (I guess some issues with the plumbing). About the room... When we entered the room there was rubbish in the trash bin. The "minibar" (just a fridge) was not working and empty. We found cobwebs on the ceiling. The room was pretty cold (visited in January), there was an air conditioner-heater but it was noisy and not effective. The bed was not particularly comfortable even: after sleeping on it two nights we got back pain. The room was probably the saddest room I've ever seen, they did not even try to make it look nice. There was just a bed, a desk, a very small cabinet and the not working fridge - not even a decoration on anything (ok, this wouldn't have changed anything, but it added sadness to our discomfort). There is no room service - they did not make up our room nor changed our towels (so don't leave them on the floor hoping to have new ones the next day - all you'll get are wet, dirty towels). All in all it was a total delusion and it's sad because it kinda of ruined our stay in Samarkand. The hotel is also pretty hard to find, as written in other reviews. There are also no fancy things such as a welcome bottle of water, nor complimentary slippers and stuff like that but of course once you check in this will be the last of your problems. There is a water heater but no teabags or anything so I still wonder what the boiler was for.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel accepted us for check in at 5 A.M in the morning which is an exceptional favor for us due to our plane arrival time.

Cons: You can not expect abundant hot water in a bathroom.

Pros: The hotel is partially renovated. The new rooms are very beautiful with new forniture and parquet floor, perfect bathroom, very clean and comfortable. We stayed just one night in a room not renovated. They are old style with consumed moquette on the floor and with a old bathroom. Location is very good. The staff is very kind and available. Car park is just in front to the hotel dedicated to the guests.
Cons: Breakfast could be strongly improved. They don't accept MasterCard only cash.
