7,5 Good
Pros: The location was good for what we were looking for, the room was cozy, the interior was nice.
Cons: The room was very dusty, the carpet at the entrance had pieces of dirt and was unvacuumed. There is a coffee machine, a kettle and a small fridge on each floor in the corridor for all of the rooms to share. The shower gel was provided in plastic tester/sample packaging.

Pros: Nice place very close to nature and away from city center
Cons: Breakfast was medium, I would say
Overview Reviews
Just 100 metres from the Market Square, this traditional guest house is located in the heart of Saalfeld in a traffic-reduced zone. It has a regional restaurant and it’s very own vault. Guest rooms and holiday flats are offered by Pension & Ferienwohnungen Töpferstüb'l. Some rooms are equipped with a kitchenette and some are located on the ground floor, making it ideal for disabled guests. Due to its central location you can reach the town’s outdoor and indoor swimming bath with sauna, the the Feengrotto and the Reha Klinik Bergfried (rehab clinic) in only a few walking minutes. Saalfeld Fairy Grottoes are just 2 km from Pension & Ferienwohnungen Töpferstüb'l. Free parking available right next to the property.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very central location. The family apartment is at the top on the third floor with some steep wooden steps. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. We stayed for only one night and moved on. I would book again. We arrived after 19:00 so the key was left at the restaurant downstairs and we were shown to our room by the waitress.
Cons: Communication in English is a bit difficult
4,6 Okay
Pros: Nothing of note. Facilities were fairly average. The location was central, but Saalfeld is a small town.
Cons: The staff were not particularly welcoming. There was no warmth or sense of hospitality. There were renovation going on, so constant noise. They only spoke German, which was ok as I have adequate German. But when I wanted to pay, and asked if they accepted my card, they demanded (and that was the tone) in fluent English, "Cash only". I didn't like being forced to pay in cash, and I thought the tone was unacceptable. I felt That overall I was treated badly because I was not German.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Old-fashioned pension with quite sizeable room. Generous breakfast buffet. Well situated just a minute or two from the marketplace in this well-preserved little Thuringian town. Friendly lady behind the counter.
Cons: A bit dowdy; not the most comfortable room in the world (but at the same time, perfectly adequate). No serious reservations.
