I was greatly impressed by the customer service. From the very first call I made to ensure that we could have one of the pet friendly rooms, to the housekeeper that gave us great information on the area, every single person we had contact with was wonderfully pleasant and helpful.
I would have liked the restaurant menu to be more extensive. We ended up eating our dinners out after our first night there.
The outside pool and hot table was very nice. Also I enjoyed lunch at the pool cafe each day. The golf course is beautiful.
Dinner at this resort was not very good but I did travel with a large group and this can be difficult for some restaurants.
great view of the golf course and ocean but very small room for a hefty price.
Location and amenities
Samoset Resort is a luxury resort that sits on the coast of Maine. Its expansive 230 acres are on the water, overlooking the beautiful Penobscot Bay. This resort has origins that go back to 1889.
Since its original opening, the Samoset Resort has been through several changes of ownership, a closing, and has burnt down. It’s now a gorgeous, luxurious resort that has been patronized by guests that include celebrities and politicians. Guests have the choice to stay within the hotel in rooms or suites, or they can choose to stay in one of the hotel’s Maine cottages, for a more private stay.
Guests can eat at La Bella Vita for delicious Italian cuisine. Then have a cocktail at Enoteca Lounge, which has the feel of an Italian wine bar. In the warmer months of the year, there’s the Splash Pool Bar and the Clubhouse Grill for eating and drinking also. For those who want to eat in their rooms, room service is available.
The Samoset Resort does feature a spa with massages, skin care essentials, and body treatments. Guests who visit in the summer and warm weather months of the year can enjoy golfing on the championship golf course on the property. Families can have fun playing in the Ultimate Backyard and swimming in the pool. Winter guests can go skiing, sledding, and tubing, or hang out at the Glacier Ice Bar.
The Samoset Resort is situated on a large waterfront property along the coast of Maine. Guests can visit in the summer for tons of outdoor activities with beautiful scenery to accent their adventures, or visit a winter wonderland that’s full of snow sports, cozy fires, and warm cocktails.
Policies vary by room type and provider.
With the beautiful landscape surrounding the property, the hotel is perfect for a dream wedding or fantastic work retreat, and with its 20,000 sq ft of function space, it can host any event you wish. One venue gem is their exhibit hall of more than 6,000 sq ft, as well as their elegantly furnished Knox County Ballroom of almost equal size. Twelve meeting rooms and outdoor venues round off the meeting facilities. For work retreats, you can benefit from the team building activities the hotel provides, such as a scavenger hunt or a Lobster Chowder Cook Off.
You can gift a special trip to your loved one and enjoy complimentary breakfast, dinner, and a bottle of champagne as well as strawberries. A complimentary late check-out until 1:00 pm is also included. With breakfast for everyone and resort credit, families can also benefit from a customized Opal Family package to make more of their stay.
The Samoset Resort Rockport spa does not only feature a signature massage, but a whole signature ritual that incorporates their house massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure, in addition to a glass of bubbly and lunch. Each treatment individualizes your specific needs and addresses any issues you may have. Honeymooners and couples can relax with the Duet package that includes a treatment of choice for two, as well as a manicure and pedicure.
With the Samoset Kids’ Club, children will surely have a great time during your family vacation at this hotel. Designed for children aged 5 to 12, the club organizes nature programs and scavenger hunts, to name some of their activities. In addition, sports and educational programs are on the daily schedule too, always seeking to entertain children for a fun time. Parents can take advantage of the supervised activities and enjoy some time alone, but should stay on the hotel premises.
The Samoset’s golf course is an 18-hole championship course with challenging holes and fairways, set amidst bunkers, a seawall, and extensive green fields. Their signature hole is the par-five 4th hole that impresses with the stone seawall backdrop. Challenging uphill slopes make sure it does not get too easy, even for pro players. If you’ve come to the resort as part of a group or work team, the course can also organize private outings and tournaments.
