Loved the old-world feel, bathtub in the room and breakfast spread was incredible. Amazing value for money!
Some people might not like the old fashioned style but for me it was great.
Breakfast was amazing, especially in that room with the stuccoed ceiling. The location was great - walking distance to everything I wanted to do. Staff were always helpful and friendly. I only regret not making time for a mulled wine in the bar with the gorgeous stained windows. I LOVED the underfloor heating in the bathroom and the bed was comfy.
I arrived around midnight and I should have asked for a room swap but I had unpacked and was too tired to bother. The first floor rooms desperately need a refurb - especially new carpets (worn and sticking up in places) and wallpaper - but the worst aspect was the patch of flaking mould and plaster above the bathroom door that dripped discoloured water onto the floor. I don't think they should even use these rooms until this has been addressed. I was very happy with the rest of the hotel but this made me regret my choice and puts me off recommending it to other travellers.
An exceptional stay in a stunningly beautiful art nouveau hotel. Rooms were superb. Beds were incredibly comfortable. Great wuality materials throughout. Spotlessly clean. And an incredible breakfast. Surpassed our expectations by a mile!
One tiny tiny thing is that there was no kettle/ hot drinks facility in the bedroom. Apart from that though it was absolutely perfect.
The room was clean, breakfast great. The staff polite and discreet.
As it was a special offer, we chose this hotel and wow! It is situated in walking distance of the old town (15 min), but also the train station is not far away (5 min). The car can be parked on the street (you need a ticket) or in the court/garden of the hotel. We payed 10 € and could even leave the car for 2 more hours after check out the next day. We had a standard room going out to the street, but it was not noisy. The room was spacious with a nice bath room. In addition there was a small second room with two armchairs and a table. I think in former times this has been the smoking room. Very nice. Everything in the hotel is Art Nouveau Style, which I love a lot. Parquet floor, wonderful wallpapers and stucco. We did not have dinner in the hotel, so I cannot rate it. Breakfast was fine, it is taken in a suite of several smaller rooms. This makes it a little intimate.
I love Latvian bread, but when we arrived in the breakfast room 1 hour before the end of the breakfast time, there was no more bread anymore, only toast and baguette. It was only filled up when we were ready. Of course I could have asked, but the girls working there were a little overstrained, so I eat a slice of toast, which was also good.
