The car we had, a jeep Cherokee, only had 20k Mike's,however, 1 day in the car stalled while driving... multiple times. The car wouldn't go over 10mph. We were able to make it to thehotel, but the evening was shot. Disappointed that they didn't even offer a credit for the issue.

Call center advised me that at the pick up location they would honor my corporate discount. When I arrived I was greeted by a woman eating a sandwich and then was rude her manager came out ungroomed like he was sleeping in the back room. The car was not clean. The seat was so low and the handles didn’t work to pull seat higher then car made a clacking noise on and off our road trip very stressful.

Car was unacceptable. Smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and was not clean prior to me picking it up. I had to wait more than 20 minutes for a paper receipt after dropping the car off. The intake employee didn't have the ability to give one outside so I had to go inside and wait so long, the airport van driver put my luggage off the bus & told me to go on the next one!

The registration on my rental car was out of date and it caused problems for me when I needed to get on military base. I almost wasn’t allowed on base. It would have been very rough if I had received a ticket or been pulled over.

dropoff was a NIGHTMARE -- no street address or map was provided in the paperwork, GPS found the wrong dollar location and took us 30 mins the wrong way, airport road signs for rental return are out of date following permanent closure of the local Dollar office, staff wouldn't answer the phones, when they answered they were actually Hertz and wouldn't address a Dollar customer -- total failure on almost every dimension

Appreciate how the waiting line is called up alternately between the 3 rental car companies [Hertz, Thrifty, Dollar]. Gives the illusion of fairness when the lines are long. Also appreciate selecting your own vehicle out of a specified row/class of cars, short wait (if any) for the airport terminal shuttle bus in either direction, and the simplicity and ease of returning vehicles at 4AM for a 6AM flight. Agent Lonnie was polite, personable, informative, professional, and efficient. Wonderful experience overall.

My car broke down late at night on a road trip and I believed it was totaled, so I booked a rental to get me home for work. Thrifty did not offer any sort of help to accommodate my needs and kept the down payment I provided. Overall, they made my experience much more stressful than it already was.

I Strongly Disliked the optional fees that I was duped into paying. The person handling my checkout trying to automatically add full insurance coverage, to which I said, no, I do not need additional insurance. They still managed to sneak in liability coverage, to the tune of $120. Considering I have multiple other forms of insurance coverage for a rental car, this was a very unwanted extra expense, that provided me with nothing of value. Additionally, to add insult to injury, when I tried to call to have this removed, the person on the phone said I had to have that done at a branch. Okay, I understand, sometimes dumb rules are in place. But, when I returned to the branch (and waited in line again), they said that, even though it was an 'error' on their part, they could only refund the days left on the rental. BUT, they actually couldn't do anything, because I did not have the van with me (it was back at the house, being packed for the trip). Why did I need to have the van there again? Who knows! Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. In summary, I was very pleased with 95% of the rental from Thrifty/Hertz (this was all handled at the Hertz desk), but, having someone sneak in an extra $120 fee for something I didn't need really soured the whole experience.

There were not enough counter staff (3) at the Raleigh combined Budget, Avis and a third rental counter for pickup. One of the 3 disappeared early on and did not return. The person waiting on me was friendly, however, under the pressure of many people waiting in line. The Honda Accord was enjoyable to drive and clean. It ran very well. The return process was disappointing. FIrst, the return area for Budget was gated. After seeing a sign to go to Avis it went better in dropping off the car and keys. Second, I never saw a place to drop off my paperwork. There were too many people in line to pick up cars to have waited to turn it in at the desk.

I cannot imagine in this day that a company's reservation system would not indicate the volume of reserved rentals that needed to be in a specific location and that their reservation system would not be tied to the local airport they're situated at notifying them to the potential volume they should expect. There was a two hour wait, standing in line, to get a vehicle that was not what I had reserved. There were not enough available vehicles to go around so they were giving whatever they had on hand to whoever happened to be standing at the window at that moment. I watched as my reserved vehicle was given to the person in front of me and when it was my turn at the window, shoulders were shrugged and a set of keys were tossed my way. I was advised to note any scratches larger that a dollar bill and any dents larger than a golf ball. Mind you, it was now midnight so no light to see the car, and they had run it through a car wash so any defects would have been hidden by the water drops. Fortunately there were none when I looked in the morning. Returning the car was just as special. No indication of the process and when I asked I was rudely told, "just leave the keys on the seat and walk away." What a madhouse. I'm nobody special, I understand that. But treat people how you want to be treated and they'll come back for more. Over the last thirty years I have rented cars across the globe while stationed overseas and when traveling locally and abroad. As for me, if I happen to be back in Raleigh, I will not be patronizing this location of Budget, Avis, or Payless as this was by far the worst rental experience I have ever had. On a positive note, the older man who was running himself ragged to get cars ready deserves kudos and a raise for his hustle and dogged determination to make up for Budget's shortfalls.

Booking through kayak is a waste of time. I went there to get my car they said they didn’t have my reservation I told them I paid for insurance with kayak and they told me that third parties insurances don’t actually work and that I should get a refund from kayak The car was more expensive then listed on kayak by an extra $100 and the car was dirty when they brought it to me. Made a nice upgrade gesture that significantly enhanced our trip.I should have been told during my order placement that u were offering a 3rd party insurance company where u would have required me to use my deductible...then “I” would have to get reimbursed from the insurance company. The renting process at both airports and the car were great.The website and confirmation. Other than going into the Kayak System, I had no email confirmation about my rental. So I was nervous that the reservation did not truly exist. It did, but without some confirmation, it was difficult. I would also like it if there were notifications sent the day before confirming the reservation and what to expect.

Vehicle was very clean and well outfitted.Due to Covid the rental offices of a number of rental agencies had been combined to a central location, a fact that was not relayed to myself or many renters as there was lots of confusion with folks picking up and dropping off vehicles. People should be advised to call their rental provider for updated information on new operating system.

almost double charged for insuranceafter checking in to the car the desk lady tried to charge me 200 dollars for insurance. i had previously bought insurance on kayak. the desk lady said that they cannot see third party insurances. good thing i was paying attention after flying all day. also i forgot to fill the gas before drop off and they changed me 50 dollars for 1/4 tank of gas. that was my own fault but still not a pleasant experience.

Shuttle there when I walked out, drove to the rental car office, checked in for my car, out in car within 15 minutes! Superior service and the best was choosing my own car from a row of 10 vehicles. Another awesome add on: Maps being provided on shuttle so, you could have handy to quickly glance while traveling.The entire process was seamless - great job, Hertz!

It was nice being able to pick the car. However, there were only three cars available.When I picked up the car, the tire pressure light was lit. I checked the air in all tires, since I didn't know which tire it was! The next day, we had a flat! No spare! There was an inflation kit, but it works with the lighter/power port which was non functional! They were going to charge me over $80 for roadside assistance. Luckily, I have AAA. The tire was not able to be fixed, so I had to buy a tire! However, the manager of the Hertz did refund that cost.

There was a bit of a wait upon arrival to get the vehicle, however registering via the AVIS website saved me tons of time. So, when my turn came up, I was in the vehicle and on my way, rather quickly. I also think it is great that I was able to earn AA miles for the rental. The partnership is much appreciated.

Liked the fast drop off at dca. Car was one way and full of smoke. Even with all the windows down the smell was overpowering. We took multiple breaks to limit my pregnant wife's exposure. For a 120$ a day rental the vehicle was old, abused, and unclean.

Had to wait over an hour to get vehicle at RDU. I am a female traveling alone. It started to rain heavily. Turned on the windshield wipers and the drivers side wiper was barely on the arm. Had to pull over 3 times to try and reattach. Then stopped for gas...the interior of fuel compartment was all cracked and moved when I put nozzle in. Pumped until it automatically stopped. Stopped pumping as concerned about the cracked and moving gas compartment. I was then charged for .6 gallons of gas!!! Told the guy about wiper when I dropped car off...he said the wrong wiper was on car. I could have gotten into an accident due to their negligence.

While the drop off was east, I found that I was charged $6.99 for gas when I filled the gas rouhgly one mile from the drop off place. My mistake is I did not check the bill until I reached home. I feel cheated because I filled the carThe staff should be fair and inform the client that they find the tank not filled while we signed to fill and bring. Clean the car better both inside and outside. There was smell of smoke inside the car when I took it. I mentioned this to the security at the gate. He told me that this may be from the material used for the upholstery.

We were lucky to have rented an SUV that only had 24 miles on it. There was still plastic covering parts of the console. This was the first time I had driven this sort of vehicle. It had a ton of features and was super comfortable.It was difficult to find the car rental location and when I called it was hard to get ahold of someone to clarify directions. The agent was all by herself and couldn’t manage the desk and the phone by herself without effecting the quality of service, but she did the best she could and was great.

Rude salespeople (Janet) coward manager that would never come out of office to meet with me. Tried calling 1-800 phone number, uncooperative also, they told me I needed to go to rental site which I did—they wouldn’t take off extra’s unless I returned the car. The deal was great cheapest SUV we found to rent for ten days.Advantage charged way to much for extras or extra driver and double the price of normal insurance. Plus tried selling as a toll easy pass by misleading about tolls in NC. the car was not cleaned very well. Windshield wiper fluid ran out after first use

It was early in the AM, but they were very professional and friendly.There was a veiled threat by the rental associate that the insurance we'd purchased through Kayak left us vulnerable, and that they'd bill us for any "days" our car was unavailable if it needed repair from an accident, and that the insurance we'd purchased most likely wouldn't cover that cost.

PricesAttitude sucked. They scheduled my reservation pickup for 11PM. I was very polite. But the lady at the front desk said she could not help me change that. She was SO annoyed. As soon as I asked for a supervisor she miraculously found a way. Unhelpful and unpleasant.

Due to several flight changes by no fault of my own, I had to cancel my trip hours before I was to pick up the car. I tried desperately calling from the airport but the person could not find my Payless confirmation number in her system. It wasn't until the next day that I was able to call the Payless office and it was too late then. Please do penalize the Payless facility but I won't be using Kayak again with the no refund policy.

confusing dropoffThe car was great, the people were very nice.there were very limited instructions for dropoff procedures. I could not find clear instructions anywhere and there were no representatives available at the time of day I needed to return the vehicle.

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCEI had an absolutely awful experience. It was honestly so bad that I can't bring myself to write it again. Let's just say the customer service was completely unhelpful, I was misinformed multiple times and had to spend an additional $1000. I will absolutely NEVER rent from national again, no matter what deal they offer, just on principle.Company policy, customer service.
