The Château was elegant and superbly staffed. Everything was seamless and the views spectacular. Like visiting royalty without any of the stuffiness.
The hotel is of course, gorgeous. I cannot find any nook or corner that is not pretty. The staff are polite and friendly. The luggage keeping and transfer were efficient (apart from one case that I will explain in 'didn't like' section). The breakfast was super nice (I took the continental buffet and it was enough to make me full). Also the staff at the breakfast area was really attentive, friendly and polite. The hotel was near to other attractions and surrounded by restaurants and souvenir shops, the location is central and good. The surrounding view was really nice for both day and night strolling. The studio room was spacious and so was the bathroom - both were clean and spotless. The hotel itself was like a fairytale castle
The check-in process was too slow. I understand that the check-in time was at 4PM but we had a very long flight and was super tired. The staff promised to email us immediately when the room was ready so we wait but didn't receive any email, and was told the room was ready only when we asked again at the reception, which was disappointing (as all of us were really tired and would appreciate a little early check in). If only the staff didnt forget about us and emailed us earlier....that would be nice. Also the staff assigned us to the wrong room - it was lucky that we checked again before going to the room (it was only then they realized they gave the wrong room to us). The bellboy brought only our luggage to the room and left our backpacks at the lobby. When we asked for the backpacks, the bellboy asked us to go down to verify the backpacks so we have to go down to the lobby again (despite of us feeling extremely tired and previously we have already loaded the luggage and backpacks under the same luggage tag!) The hotel was of course, pricey, hence it was a bit disappointing that it didn't include breakfast as part of the complimentary in the package. There were no free water bottle available in the room (only the expensive one that u have to buy) and this is shocking because even the most cheap hotel would usually offer free water in the room. The Wifi is not working even tho we have already key in the correct password and ID.
This hotel is located in the heart of Old Québec and is one of the most beautiful places to visit and stay in North America. The hotel offers a great spa area including a well-equipped gym and pool area. There's also a beautiful cocktail bar and a few nice restaurants. Nevertheless, the receptionists could be a little friendlier. In comparison to other high-end locations, I feel that the value for the money could have been better.
Although we had a reservation at the Champlain restaurant, they let us wait for 15 minutes, even though there were plenty of tables available. In addition, we arrived 45 minutes early to be there in time, waiting at the bar. The hostess (Laurie) told us they would look for us as soon as they had a table available. Instead, we had to look for her...
We’ve wanted to stay here since our first visit to Quebec about 15 years ago, but we couldn’t afford it then. It didn’t disappoint! Grandeur, space, beautiful decor and sculptures, plush carpets, gorgeous ceilings. Everywhere you look is beauty and luxury. Fantastic breakfast - choice, quality, service.
There is no comfortable sitting room for guests, other than the two chairs in your bedroom.
Location, history, and friendly staff
Bar and liquor service too small and limited access. Huge hotel with tiny Bar area and a waiting line. Missed opportunity for the hotel to make additional income.
Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is a grandiose, opulent hotel that offers visitors a one-of-a-kind experience. The hotel is one of the centerpieces of the Old Quebec district, among other excellent attractions like the 1800s Citadelle Fort and Terrasse Dufferin, a large boardwalk that overlooks the city. Château Frontenac is impossible to miss with its large spires and impressive size. While the hotel has always been incredible, it recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation project that upgraded virtually every facet of the compound.
Château Frontenac boasts 611 guestrooms and suites that invite visitors to take a look into both historic Canada and Europe. Château Frontenac has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site so every guest who stays here is truly a part of history. There are three different types of rooms that guests can choose to stay in. The Fairmont Room ranges from 175 square feet to 225 square feet and features classic decor. The Deluxe Rooms are the same size as the Fairmont Rooms but with some additional furniture and amenities. The Signature Rooms are the largest and finest rooms in the hotel and represent the pinnacle of what Château Frontenac has to offer.
Since Château Frontenac has such a storied history and sits on such beautiful grounds, guests can sign up for guided tours throughout the day. The main restaurant in Château Frontenac is Champlain Restaurant headed by Chef Stephane Modat. The kitchen creates delicious dishes that take guests through a journey of local Quebec cuisine. While reservations aren't required, they are highly encouraged. Other dining facilities include the 1608 Wine and Cheese Bar and Bistro Le Sam, which offers creative lunch dishes and fun happy hour cocktails.
