Pros: Staff consistently went out of their way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. They helped exchanged our tickets and made special arrangements for our transfer back to the Taichung station when it turned out we had confused High Speed Rail with Express Train and purchased the wrong tickets. They were patient with all our questions. Lots to love about this hotel from glorious lake views to stupendous buffet meals, Japanese style hot spring baths in room as well as in a large pool.

Cons: Not too much except on our last night, the lights in our room suddenly went on three times in the middle of the night, waking us up. And the room got really warm despite a thermostat reading that remained unchanged.

Pros: The staff always went above and beyond. Water and spa was free with our room package and although buffet came too it was good as well. Cannot brag enough about the staff and out of our whole life of stays this ranks top for us. Wonderful stay all around!

Cons: Has nothing to do with the hotel, I just wish we had known that sunmoon lake didnt have a beach. The only thing is the staff when cleaning other rooms could be a little quieter and not yell down the halls when talking to each other, but that wasnt a huge deal. The staff other than that were exceptional and we 10/10 would recommend.

Pros: We enjoyed beautiful lake view and sumptuous breakfast and dinner buffet. Staff is cheerful, efficient and friendly. We like the decor and open spaces to enjoy the sun moon lake view. Simple and artistic art work with Chinese calligraphy makes it very special for guests. We stay here for the 2nd time because of we like it so much.

Cons: In room telephone is difficult to use.

Pros: Clean rooms. Good to have jacuzzi in the bathroom. Game room in the basement was positive for kids

Cons: Very particular about the check-in time and staff would not give room before 3 pm, even if it is an hour or do earlier. We were asked to go boating the moment the check in formalities were completed as we reached at 1.30pm!!! Even the restaurant had stopped lunch by then and only tea /coffee was available. One can understand the policies but the response was very curt. It was very difficult to communicate as staff was not able to converse in English. Given the pricing and positioning of the hotel, this was basic. Breakfast options were limited. Restaurant staff struggled to cater to us and the service was not just upto the mark. We were informed after placing the order that certain items are not available. Additionally the restaurant forgot to serve one item. Overall not value for money

Pros: The lake view is unbearable ever. You could sit on your couch next to the flooer to the ceiling window for hours by reading your books and watching to the Sun Moon lake. What a life it is.

Cons: Although the general impression on the room was great (clean sheets, spacious, nice decoration, VIEW), I must admit there were many bad things : shower tub not clean at all (black stains in the corners and joints), stains on sofa, some switches didn't work, etc). And no lift ... OK, I am not used any more to that, i must admit ...

Pros: - Our room was on the 5th floor and it was amazing, perhaps the best view of SML

Cons: - It is a pity that the hotel is not nicely maintained, the view is super amazing but if you pay attention to the details you might be disappointed

Cons: Air conditioning was not working or if it was working, not properly. The breakfast buffet was one of the worst we have ever seen, a disgrace: no yoghurt, some old fruit, wilted lettuce and other greens, old floury fries and nuggets, even the chinese dishes were tateless and badly presented. Juice dispensers were almost empty (we were theer at 9am), etc etc

Pros: Nice location close to foods and stores. Staff are very friendly. Free valet parking makes it easy. Hotel has free bikes for use.

Cons: - looks dated, furniture was old fashioned. We even thought carpet was so dirty that we worn slippers in the room but hotel insisted it's the original colour. - room is small. - bf is very limited.

Pros: The location is very convenient. Definitely request for lake view room on the high floors. Love the balcony access. The staff at the front desk were extremely kind and helpful.

Cons: The chaise in our room was stained. Our wash basin was clogged. Need more than one set of towels in the room.

Pros: My room was with a balcony. The view was AMAZING with stunning weather. I spent most of the time in that balcony, eating my snacks and watching people around the lake.. The room is good and it has a little dining room with Asian style. The breakfast was good too though. Although it was a little bit pricey, but it definitely worth every single penny you spend in that hotel.

Pros: The location was the highlight of the stay. The location is also close to eateries and small quaint shops.

Cons: The hotel needs tender loving care and a bit of an update in furnishings. The carpets are filthy and stained so is the chaise lounge in the room. The cleanliness of the bathrooms should also be taken into serious consideration. The bathroom has a top line of shower system however the grime and dirty shower area is not a sight to behold. Just an update and a thorough clean up will spruce it up a bit. Like the locals say’ it is the best economical hotel in the area.

Pros: Breakfast was served on the 6th floor, offering mostly local breakfast items, but there are fresh fruit/vegetables and vegetarian options too. Observed quite a few family groups. Friendly service and housekeeping staff. We appreciated the corner room (tucked-away and suitable for families with younger children), which offered a partially-blocked but somewhat pleasant view of 'the Moon' (its namesake) lake and cablecar lines. The custom-made shower / hot-tub in the room is quite innovative.

Cons: The front desk receptionist appeared too busily engaged on the phone to entertain questions about bicycle rental (and there was a whole row of bicycles parked at the hotel)... waited quite a while for her to finish her telephoning but gave up. In the end I didn't manage to rent any from the hotel. The shower curtain rod is friction-stayed, so it did fall down when the child accidentally tugged the curtain. (No one was injured.) Housekeeping helped to put it back up the next morning.

Pros: So peaceful and near scenic spots. Very good breakfast.

Pros: Simple yet sophisticated. Closest to port for boat riding. Aircon and water pressure are great. Family room was super spacious!

Cons: Check in at 3, and check out at 11. Effectively, it's only 20 hours. Staff did allow us to check out late by 1 hour though.

Pros: We left our IPhone in the taxi on our way to the hotel. The host assisted us by calling the taxi driver who does not speak English and retrieved our phone. We are grateful for her help. Will definitely book hotel again.

Cons: There was a cockroach roaming around my room at night. The breakfast was prepared at 7:30 - 9:30 but left out so that when i came down to eat at 8:30 it was almost cold. Didnt seem to be a food heater so either eat early or go elsewhere. This was one of the cheaper places in the area.

Pros: For the price range of this hotel, we expected a fairly low standard since we stay in lots of budget hotels in Taiwan, and they tend to be old and ugly inside, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the room was very new, clean, nicely decorated, and well maintained. We even had a view of Sun Moon Lake (5th floor, those below might not), though a little far away. There's an elevator to the rooms. It's on the main road around Sun Moon Lake, but only 3 minutes walk to the main street/night market in Ita Thao.

Cons: The two beds were a little small. It was a room for 4, but we ended up making a bed for the kids on the floor because it was a bit tight to share the beds.

Pros: Rooms are clean and tidy. It is conveniently located, 5mins walk from the restaurants and market. The hosts offered us ferry tickets at a good price too.

Pros: Perfect location. The bus dropoff and pickup place is about a one minute walk away and the boat pier two or three minutes away.

Cons: I was given a room not shown on the website. Its windows were to two corridors, two of the windows at eye level so people walking past couldn't help but look in. I felt like a bit of an exhibitionist when I left the curtains open and quite closed off from the world when the curtains were closed

Pros: The location is great. It's suitable for the one who want to take your time to relax because It's very quiet It's not far from the night market. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. It's better than I hope. If you want to stay at Sun Moon Lake I recommend this place.

Pros: We lost the bag, one phone call and day after the bag arrive to Taipei. The team saw that my kids didn't eat the breakfast, they suprise them with eggs and milk.

Cons: It's a cheap accommodation, and probably therefore far from perfect. The location mentioned on booking is not the real location. The hotel reception is behind a grocery store in the same street, probably 100m further. The room itself was in another location, in a dodgy ally covered with dog poop.

Cons: The young man was unwelcoming, the first words he said were for the payment of the room no smile， no information. He gave us a key and asked an older man to lead us to the room. The room was not in the very same building, we had to walk in a strange and dirty alley. We were disappointed to see such a tiny room for 50 euros. The room was only big enough to contain a queen size bed. The toilet/shower were in a very very small room, the door couldn't even be opened entirely ‼ I was mad to have paid this much money for something which is not even in the building of the so called hotel. I went back to the man and told him that I had not booked for this. He agreed to give us another room without arguing, which was in the building of the hotel. The room was small but better, still not worth the amount of money. Dirty, with bugs, ants... I do not recommend it at all

Cons: This was absolutely the worst experience that I’ve had at any hotel or hostel. There was a miscommunication about payment amounts and checkout procedure, and the staff member was extremely belligerent with us. I was afraid for my safety. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here.

Pros: The room is small but the sheets have no foul smell. The location is very good near at suishe pier. The owner is accomodating.

Cons: The firstime we walk on the hallway up to the elevator we smelled garlic maybe someone is cooking on the first floor. Poor signage but when you ask the locals they do know where is. Not so clean. A little bit disappointed because when you see the picture before booking is very far from reality.
