Pros:Nothing at allCons:Policy regarding debit/credit cards. $200 hold and credit check asking for my SS number. No way I'm giving that out to rental desk. Keep your cars, I'm never going to rent with Payless again. I didn't this time since I cancelled at the desk.Reviewed Dec 15 2015

Great experiencePros:Customer service person was very friendly and not pushy and over selling. We were able to get in and on our way quickly. Vehicle was in good shape and ran well. Not greatPros:The check in/check out was goodCons:The car was older, 2014-15, it had been sprayed with cleaner a million times and it didn't have a fob for alarm, etc. it looked like an older company car. The money was good for the price but I wouldn't do it again. The nice thing about renting is testing out new cars and this was like test driving an old car with almost 50K miles on it.Reviewed Sep 19 2016

Good vehicle; counter personnel was lacklusterPros:The vehicle met my needs at a very good price.Cons:The counter agent looked disheveled and disinterested I was interested in purchasing the fuel and insurance options, but handed me the paperwork with everything marked declined (without asking). When I asked what the fuel option cost, he responded that he wasn't sure but he believed it was around $2.49/gallon. While it's possible that he was right, the price at the pump ranged between $1.85 and $1.99, so I believe he materially overestimated the cost so that I would not have him change the already printed paperwork. Further, he handed me keys with a form tapped to them noting that if I saw any damage larger than a quarter to mark it on the sheet and bring it back to him. I found several dents and scratches on the car (though non that likely exceeded the quarter-size threshold he specified), so I marked them and took the sheet inside. He took the sheet from me and I left. I later realized that I probably should have kept that sheet and have him initial it so that I kept the documentation that the car was received in that condition. All said -- my experience at the counter was below par, and I believe this staff would benefit from some additional training and a reminder that he plays a significant role in shaping the customer experience! Pros:Car was clean, new, and a good price.Cons:There aren’t Payless parking spots at BHM airport, so I parked it in an Enterprise spot upon returning. When I returned the keys to the Payless desk, the employee asked why I didn’t park it in the Avis section. Like wtf, get your own parking spaces or tell me to return to an Avis spot when I pick upReviewed May 20 2019

Great with 1 exceptionPros:Renting a car from Payless was an overal great experience. Customer service was great, the car was clean, in great shape and comfortable.Cons:I asked to drop off in a different location and if there was a cost. I was told I have to bring the car back to that location only. Even though renting a car from Payless was an overal great experience, I might not be able to rent from Payless in the future due to this doesn't meet my overal needs if I need to drop the car in a different location but can't.Reviewed Jul 11 2016
