Lovely room with lake view and balcony
Two chairs on the balcony but no table. Would of been nice to put your drinks or paper on instead of the floor....very strange. This appeared to be the case in all the rooms with a balcony. Needs addressing. Food ok but not exceptional. No main meals on the restaurant came with vegetables, disappointing.
Helpful and friendly staff. Good size room and bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Good service and food in the restaurant. Great access to Rutland Water. Reasonable meal and bar prices (even a real ale in the bar). Good parking. WiFi worked well.
This may seem a bit picky, but we like to listen to the radio and the only radio station we could find on the TV was BBC R3 (not our taste in music) Why not more radio choices on the TV? There was a radio alarm clock in the room but this was manual tune FM. Why not a DAB radio? The other strange thing was that the kettle was on a table but there was no socket there. We had to move the kettle to the window sill to plug it in. Restaurant and bar area are a bit dated. Don't let these comments put you off, the hotel is excellent and we had a great time.
The view of the lake and the friendly staff
The bedding - one sheet and a blanket is not enough in November should have had a nice duvet. The hotel was in separate buildings - reception in one, bedroom in others, Restaurant in yet another.
