There was a smell in the second room we had, above the kitchen.
We liked how quaint and cosy the property was. It had a homely vibe and the staff were very sweet. We chose to stay on the mountain at the sacrifice of being close to town, and I can see how that would become limiting for other groups. The 20 minute uphill walk home is quite a mission, so we did it every second night (eating near the lodge is limited to 2 other restaurants). It seems there are some properties in an area that as the best of both worlds, but this truly is the best location for ski in/ski out. The breakfast was pleasing and the staff were always so kind. They assisted with all of our questions graciously. For shorter stays I would 100% recommend Lodge Hahnenkamm to friends, so you can maximise your mountain time.
No real negatives! Some of our group felt restricted by the showering times (mornings and evenings only) and the lack of 24/hr coffee fascilities. Our strongest feedback would be to invest in a slightly larger/more comfortable lounge so more guests could enjoy the common space by the fire!!!
Ski in and ski out with Ski rental on site means this location is perfect for a skiing focussed weekend.
In the evenings it’s a little difficult to get to and from the main town area (you have to walk down from and then back up a steep hill to the property. While the property offers pick-up and drop-off to bus stations for arrival and departure, transport isn’t offered at other times.
Sweet and knowledgeable owners who made me feel valued and welcome.
The staff were very friendly, the traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious and the location is great. On our last night, they let us drink red wine in the fire room and put on an English DVD they had on hand. It was a great personal experience.
