Not a good area .bathroom nasty need update

It was a huge mistake booking this room. The motel is located in East New Orleans and is a like it is a set from the movie "Escape from New York" with Snake Pliskin. The clerk is behind a plexiglass window in the tiniest lobby you've ever seen and hands you slip to sign as a check in procedure through a tiny hole in the window. The parking lot and motel were fenced in with a high fence but that didn't matter because the gate into the parking lot was wide open when we pulled in. It was perfect for all those shady characters just loitering around the sidewalk and street to get on and off the hotel property. They seemed to take interest in us as we off loaded our vehicle. We were in our room for two minutes and we could hear people talking loudly a few feet from our door. At that point, we decided " We are out of here." We booked another room (in Slidell thirty minutes away), packed our car and left . Just for the record, the room itself was not worth the $90 plus we paid for it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone I care about or like.
