Great location, and what a wonderful room!
Best possible location, beautiful hotel
I met my best friend in New Orleans for a long weekend, and staying at the Cornstalk was perfect. The room was gorgeous, the staff helpful, the courtyard a perfect oasis to sit and eat take-out lunch, the beds super comfy. It is in the thick of everything, without being right on Bourbon Street, which would have been way too crazy. Royal Street is extraordinary, with tons of gorgeous antique shops and good restaurants. Most importantly - there was a coffee shop just down the block from Cornstalk, and the Verdi Marte is only about four blocks away, where you'll get the best sandwiches in New Orleans. This place was utterly delightful.
They don't make it clear on the website that there is no elevator, and that even to get to the ground floor, there is a huge staircase - and this is the only access. The day we were checking out, an elder couple was attempting to check in, but the wife - who used a walker - couldn't begin to make it up the stairs to the ground floor, let alone the 2nd floor room they'd booked. This was a Saturday night, and I imagine they had a terrible time finding another room - and they'd obviously flown in from somewhere far away. This is something that should be made crystal clear to anyone who books a room.
This comfortable 3-star inn is just five minutes from Bourbon Street. It is also within walking distance of New Orleans's popular attractions and landmarks.
There are a variety of facilities on offer to those staying at Cornstalk Hotel, including valet parking, an express check-in and check-out feature and free Wi-Fi. The front desk operates 24/7 and the friendly staff can recommend places to visit and provide other tourist information.
Cornstalk Hotel has 14 charming rooms that are equipped with all the essentials to ensure a comfortable stay.
For guests who enjoy discovering local dining options, there is a large variety within walking distance. The Historic New Orleans Collection, Jackson Square and French Market are also all only a quick walk away.
