Pros: My family and I spent 3 days at Oshi Ryokan over the New Year Holiday and we had an absolutely amazing experience! Oshi and his wife, as well as other staff, were wonderful and their hospitality was top notch. Oshi went above and beyond to help my family feel comfortable, as it was my mom’s first time visiting Japan. He helped us with directions, drove us to the nearby ski lodge (so fun!), prepared delicious meals for breakfast and lunch along with his wife, helped with special requests, and even provided a power outlet converter for my mom to use during her trip! Really awesome hosts and they both speak wonderful English :) We would definitely love to come back for another visit!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Unique location and fantastic experience of traditional Japanese life. The food was awesome and the staff super friendly. Will be going back.

Pros: The best stay in Japan. The food, the room and the service......evreything were perfect, make us like home. And we love the view of snow forest.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We visited Oshi in winter and arrived at night in the middle of a snow storm but we were welcomed very warmly by our amazing hosts into our lovely room. We met the beautiful samoyed dog who was incredibly friendly and playful. Exploring the shrine and quiet streets around Oshi during the day was very peaceful. The lovely hosts and room made our stay at Oshi the best night of our trip and best stay of our lives.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: When arriving at the Hakuba Bus Terminal, the host came to pick us up - a really nice gesture that made the trip super convenient. We bought ski passes at the hotel reception and got a discount voucher for a ski rental located 40 meters from the hotel. For breakfast we told the staff that we don’t eat meat and they replaced the bacon with cheese.
Cons: You can only pay with cash at the hotel, so make sure to bring plenty, since there’s no ATM nearby.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great onsen. The hotel was very quiet yet in a central part of town one block from the train station. The room was a decent size and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. It was nice to have breakfast although it was only Japanese.
Cons: We had difficulty with payment, we like to pay in the local currency to avoid bank fees but the staff on duty could not understand even though we tried translating. In the end it was raining so we just bit the bullet and paid the converted price.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location with great view on te city, try to make a reservation for the top 2 floor appartments, they have a 180 view!, breakfast is simple but good, onsen available.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: all was good, we stayed during typhoon Hagibis and we felt very safe great onsen on site, breakfast was great
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice room and onsen. Close to railway station, easy to find. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No problem to leave my backpack while I went to Obuse (great Hokusai Museum).
Cons: Breakfast (Japanese) is basic, but for this price level good.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The twin rooms at 24m were very comfortable. When we booked free breakfast was included in the price, which though simple was adequate and essential for our excursion to see the snow monkeys.
Cons: The onsen could be nicer with just a little more attention to ambience, but at least it was available.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, breakfast.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hot and strong pressure shower
Cons: You get what you pay for , is all fair
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent if you are looking for an overnight stay in Nagano before catching the bus in the morning to snow fields. Its an easy walk from the train with luggage and back to the bus stop. The walkway over the main road has lifts to bypass the stairs. Staff were very friendly and the room comphy and clean.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located right in front of Nagano's main station. We've joked about being more inside the station than anywhere else in the city, but that is because the station connects two parts of the city so we were crossing it all the time. The hotel is a 5 minute walk away from the main shopping area and that is fabulous! besides that, the room was the one one among the 5 hotels we've been to in this trip that was spacious. To add, we had some difficulties on closing the window and the staff (which was amazing. These people are loving and we felt like hugging them even though we didn't lol) helped us by coming to the room. An amazing experience we had there.
Cons: Well, it was awesome in general. If there's anything to state as a dislike, we would say that it was slightly difficult to find the hotel because it's signs were under repairment, so we couldn't see the name (sunroute). Besides, the name was changing to something else, but we were informed of that via e-amil so no problem. Oh, a lady on the streets showed us the building we were looking for. Japanese people are the most helpful people on the world.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location if travelling by train or car. Plenty of parking next to the hotel for between 500 and 1000 Yen depending on the time. Room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Very happy with the breakfast, good food in a lovely room.
Cons: The only thing that was a little difficult was the hotel did not have the name in English so we had to check with reception, This was the only issue and not a big deal.
5,1 Okay
Pros: Great breakfast Solid room key was cool
Cons: AC didn't have adjustment between hot and cold. At 4am my room was a sauna and I couldn't cool the room or open a window. Bed was broken down and uncomfortable. Furniture is dated with many signs of wear. Shower temperature would change immediately and without warning.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Super convenient for Shinkansen!! Easy 3 mins stroll. I needed a spot last minute and this way perfect.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Right next to the train station and has a 7/11 downstairs.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: There’s a public bath with sauna and massage chair. It’s around 10 mins walk from the JR station. During the check in process, they are very professional and well prepared with hand written English card to prevent any miscommunication. However, they also mistook my package with breakfast, hence they gave me the breakfast card. After realising it was an error, they did not remove the breakfast card and proceed to let me enjoy the breakfast. Very professional! Free phone.
Cons: The reception area has free coffee but do not have tea
10,0 Excellent
Pros: One of the more comfortable hotels I stayed in! The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The room is a bit small, but it was perfect for being a solo traveler. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and modern.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We'd only stayed one night arriving late in the evening and leaving early in the morning. For a short overnight stay everything was fine although we didn't use most of the facilities. The room and bathroom were comfortable, double bed wasn't too narrow. There is a 7\11 next to the hotel which is convenient if your stay doesn't include breakfast. The train station is approx 10 minutes away by foot and there's also a local line\subway stop next to the hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel Nagano was close to Nagano Station and provided an extremely convenient spot for the price. I needed a last-minute place to stay since my AirBnB booking in Tokyo fell through. It was walking distance to the Zenkoji Temple. The staff were extremely generous and kind, even though there was a bit of a language barrier. I would definitely go again. Clean rooms, too. :)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Not too far from Nagano station and easy to find. Was good enough for the price. Clean, tidy and everything I needed.

Cons: Nothing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Good facility
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Good size Quiet Close to supermarkets
Cons: No restaurants close by Dated decor
6,7 Good
Pros: I selected this hotel as all other hotels in central Nagano were booked for the first night of my trip. The 30 minute taxi ride back and forth added to the cost, but were reasonable. The location is poor for an extended stay of sightseeing or using the rail system to visit other towns in the Nagano area. However, for a single night it was fine. Nearby was a small little castle ruin which was fun to visit as was the local supermarket. The baths were a nice evening break.
Cons: This hotel is geared for large tourist groups and can be a bit noisy. The quality of the dinner buffet reflects the people who stay here in that the expectations are not set as high as other resort hotels. Location is a problem for train access. But the price and the room amenities made up for it.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved this hotel!! The room was huge and very clean, the staff were super helpful even making us appointments with the doctors as needed. Free parking, close to supermarkets and the express highway which made it a really convenient stay. Thank you Royal Hotel :)

6,0 Good
Pros: Location is excellent. Walking distance from Nagano station. Excellent onsen without having to pay additional charges is a bonus. From there, easy 45 min bus ride to Jigokudani snow monkey park
Cons: Would have been better if the Japanese style room provides free coffee, tea, creamer and sugar as well
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was enormous for Japan standards and extremely comfortable. They accomodated our two kids in extra beds for no additional charge. Hotel was one block away from the JR station. Staff were always helpful and attentive. Onsen was great and the women’s onsen was stocked with face cleanser and moisturiser.
Cons: No coin laundry. On the quiet side of the railway station and not next to any restaurants (though it was only 5-10 minutes walk to a busier area with shopping and eating). Onsen was shut between 8:30-5pm.
7,0 Good
Pros: I like that there is a separate bathroom and toilet.
Cons: As we had 4 in our party, laying out all the futons means there isn't any walking space without having to step on the sleeping area. There was also not much space to put out our own toiletries. The tap confused us for a while as it turns the opposite way
4,0 Okay
Pros: Location 5-10min walk from station
Cons: Room was very dated, smelled of smoke and a stained carpet. Breakfast choice was Ok, but bread was dry and selection for continental poor.

Cons: I didn't know how to operate the aircon because it was in Japanese. I tried to press all buttons and set the temperature but nothing happened. But then again I didn't ask or call the reception so actually my fault. Maybe put some English instructions also?

Pros: Location is literally at the Nagano JR station. Beautiful hotel close to restaurants, convenience stores and a mall. I remember their TV had a channel for news on Japan, Asia and around the world, in English. We visited during a festival and from our room, we were able to watch the drumming performances happening in the streets.
Cons: No microwave in the room.

Pros: Muted elegance. Very clean. Location can not be beat - direct access to trains, MiDoRi department store and food court. Breafast was a feast with so many varieties of Japanese and Continental fare to choose from. Check-in was a breeze. Staff was friendly and helpful and polite of course since this is Japan after all. Great value for the price. I'll definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever visit Nagano again.
