Great location for links to public transport - trams right outside, flinders station across the road and short walk to main shopping area etc. But peeling water damaged wall in bedroom, bathroom not clean and despite being a ‘ deluxe’ room it felt worn and in need of TLC. Old style. Nice staff.
Room was small & stuffy, even with heater turned off.
Location & bed linen
Room and bathroom was so small, not even enough room to get out of bed, curtains were at my feet, frayed carpet towards bathroom
Enjoyed ambiance of historic building
Streets surrounding hotel very dirty
Great historic entry hall. Eccellent central location.
On arrival one has to carry up the suitcases to the reception, no porters around. It took a while to be able to check in, because the otherwise friendly receptionists were busy on the phone. Of the room it said in booking.com 23 sq m. It was definitely just about 18 sq m. On the photos for this kind of room was always an armchair depicted. There was none, only one chair by the writing desk (without lamp). There was nowhere to put one's clothes. The narrow wardrobe was taken over by the fridge (with minibar), by the safe, by a nespresso machine, a kettle to boil hot water. Tea, coffee, cups, glasses, wine glasses, snacks and big red wine bottle. Iron and ironing board. On the clothes hangers two bathrobes. The view was good (I had requested and paid for a room with view), but the window couldn't be opened and the outer windowsill was full of bird droppings. Of 14 hotels (4 and 5 stars) on this my latest tour this was the smallest and most basic room of all, at the same time also the most expensive.
