The location was perfect - across the street from the Pacific and the end of Mazatlan's malecón. We were just a few blocks from Plazuela Machado where we visited the small but interesting Museo Archaeologico, an art gallery, the Ángela Peralta Theater, and dined under the trees at one of the many restaurants rimming the plaza. We enjoyed a beautiful dinner on the terrace at Casa Lucila, and breakfast the next day. The hotel kept our luggage stored for us after our check-out so we could further explore the area before transferring that afternoon to a new location.
We had the "Alma" suite, located on the first floor of the 8-room inn. While it had high ceilings and was spacious enough, there was only one small window so we felt like we were in a bit of a cave. The air conditioning was sub par, and non-existent in the spacious but hot and humid bathroom. We left the door between the bedroom and bathroom open to try to get what modest cooling there was from one room to the next but to no avail. Because we were staying just the one night and were a bit fatigued from our long flight day, we did not complain or ask for a different room. I'm sure they would have moved us if room was available to a higher floor. I would try this hotel again but ask specifically for an upper room with more windows and airflow.
Everything was exactly as expected!
The staff was professional and exceedingly polite. They made my staying there pleasant.
The location is my favorite in Mazatlan, so glad Casa Lucila is now there. The amenities and decor are VERY nice, felt like a home away from home. The staff VERY welcoming and attentive. The views are spectacular. Also the bar and snacks were well done. Breakfast was also great. Nothing bad to say, only wish I could afford to move in.
The price is high for Mazatlan standards especially in this area, but it's very special so what can you really say .... it was worth it.
