Lopesan Baobab Resort

The Lopesan Baobab Resort is set in beautiful gardens and they have been designed in a rather unique way – they include a large number of water features such as streams, waterfalls and pools. There is lush vegetation including thousands of palm trees, colourful flowers and well-tended lawns flourishing around no fewer than nine outdoor heated swimming pools, including dedicated children’s pools.

The clean lines of the spacious, modern architecture and interior design are very relaxing. The rooms and communal areas are light and airy but in no way soulless, thanks to the beautifully executed African themes and colours. They feature open balconies and uncluttered seating areas with many floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the internal spaces with natural light.

As well as buffets offering a huge choice of delicious favourites from around the world, a top-quality barbeque for grilled meat and fish, and the Pili Pili restaurant for Spanish classics, the Lopesan Baobab Resort prides itself on its African connections, not just in the design of the hotel but in the menu at the Akara African restaurant set in the spectacular hotel gardens. This is a chance to taste some of the lesser-known flavours and specialities of Africa – you will be surprised by the way genuine African cuisine combines exotic ingredients and fragrant spices to create genuinely unexpected gastronomic delights.

The Lopesan Baobab Resort has thought carefully about accessibility and has made sure that rooms, restaurants and one of the heated swimming pools is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

How about hiring one of the hotel’s rental bikes to explore Meloneras, both the golden sands of laid-back Meloneras beach and Meloneras village, one of the most upmarket and sophisticated places for shopping and dining in southern Gran Canaria.

You can take lessons at the hotel’s diving school or join the get-fit classes, you can brush up your table tennis and water polo skills, or you could play a slow-paced game of French ‘boules’ in the shady gardens. In the evenings there is a nightly programme of live entertainment. Or you could ask the concierge to organise a trip to the nearby El Salobre riding stables.

As you would expect, there are double rooms (with and without sea views) and junior suites. What makes the range of accommodation on offer through KAYAK a bit special is the excellent selection of family rooms – not as expensive as a suite and yet spacious enough to allow parents and children to stay together, often a better option than booking a series of smaller rooms.

The Lopesan Baobab Resort takes younger guests very seriously. There are children's paddling pools and kids' clubs. There is a baby-seating service as an optional extra and many of the sports and games are perfect for children.
