A riad with "local color" in the very heart of Medina
A smallest room (Muscade Twin)!!! - the photos of the riad give totally untrue idea of its size. A tiny window on the level of bed led into inner corridor and patio - no privacy whatsoever! In the night when we closed it we had a feeling we slept in a coffin - it was one of the worst nights in my life(( On the day of our departure the staff removed all our belongings (even unpacked ones) at 11 am, when we were away and said we would come back by 11.30 and vacate the room (official check-out - 12 am). We also ordered a transfer from train station, and taxi driver made us pay extra money to the local porter - later we told this to the hotel owner, but there was no reimbursement.
The riad was in a great location close to the souks and main square. The staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly. I was presented with red roses on my special birthday from the owners, a lovelly touch which typified our experience here.
The Staff at Riad Al Karama were superb... friendly, helpful and courteous. Although we were in a different country with a different culture, we actually felt the comfort of being at home. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated and the roof terrace is a great place to go for a drink and relax during the evening. It's also a great place to meet other tourists in a free informal way, sharing the breakfast at the table. Geographically, it is a picturesque 10 min. walk to the famous "Jamna El Fna" Square, but it is located in a calm neighborhood, where you can getaway from the crowded and bustling roads. Highly Recommended!
Please refrain from giving money to the kids on the streets. They will help you find the Riad (without being asked for) and demand money in return. They can be annoyingly persistent. If you can, bring some pens or pencils and give them instead.
The location was close to the souks and the rooms were nice and spacious. lovely view from the roof terrace.
very disappointed as booked a room that I thought had a double and a single bed like showed in the picture, I also made a note that the room would be for 3 people. On arrival owner looked surprised to see 3 people. The room that I had booked had been given to somebody else, obviously had not read the note that the room was for 3!! Then on check out we were charged and extra 20euros for the extra bed, when I thought I had a booked a room for 3 people anyway! I booked the riad as I thought we would only be charged for an extra breakfast as the room I thought I had booked was for 3 and didn't need an extra bed! If I had known that the it would be an extra 20euros for the 3 person would have definitely stayed somewhere else!!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The roof terrace was incredibly relaxing.
Very attentive staff who made our stay very pleasant, incredible breakfast with freshly baked pastries in the terrace, tasteful decor.
We arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport through the Riad but nobody turned up at the airport.
First off the staff was incredibly nice. The hotel was very clean. It was so well decorated and exactly as I imagined it would be, the rooftop terrace is quite nice too! Unfortunately for me, my airco didn't work the first night... didn't know if I was going to make it, but once I made the staff aware of it they immediately began making progress towards fixing it. Very very good location for people who want to be "in" Marakesh, but not in the drama of a big city. Everyone spoke Arabic, French and a little bit of English. Everyone needs to ask to see Josephine....
I had to leave :(
A good service (personnal touch while staying in the background), good location in a typical Maroccan environment
A little bit noisy, but I expect that's normal in a Riad
The Riad is very well situated in the Medina, and - what is the most important - easy to find!!! Only a 5-10 minute walk to the famous place Djema el Fna. It's located in a very quiet narrow street, we didn't hear any noise from bustling Marrakesch. The patio is very nice decorated as well as our room and bathroom. Breakfast, served on the terrace, was simple but good.We can absolutely recommend it
Nothing!! The only thing we missed in our room (Safran room) was a reading lamp ... but we have been tired anyway from the bustling Marrakesh.
