The room was spacious and clean with the added bonus of having a settee to relax the evening, the bed was comfy. The stairs are a climb to the top so if you have mobility issues would recommend letting the owners know before. Breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh and plentiful. The service too was exceptional. The only thing they don't offer evening meals so you have to walk down to the little village but there's a good choice down there, there is no eating allowed in the rooms. The car park on the back is extremly tight but other than that would recommend.
Unable to take food back to the room and the tight car park at the back. No other complaints from me. Nice cosy little place with friendly staff.
This was a cosy, comfortable and clean hotel with friendly staff and had useful private parking. It is a big old house and decorated in keeping with its origins which I liked. It was a few miles drive from Manchester and Salford Quays which I was visiting and close to buses, trains and trams so travelling was easy by all methods. The breakfasts within the price of the room are simple but extra cooked breakfasts are available if desired.
The surrounding area is just suburban so not scenic in any way but that is to be expected if you want to be within reach of a city centre.
There was private parking - though they shut the gate at night and I had to park somewhere else.
I booked a single room due to the nice photographs of what I thought my room would be - usually on booking.com they actually display accurate photos of the room so you can make a decision. This was not the case. Upon check-in I had to sign a form saying I would behave myself under a big ominous sign of the 1972 Immigrants in Hotels act. Very foreboding. The lady at check-in told me that if I dared eat a take-away in the room I'd face a £25 fine. Upon entering the sad little room - which I reiterate was not the same one advertised via the photos - I was greeted by a big laminated sign saying NO EATING TAKEWAYS IN THE ROOM. The lady then told me "oh it's a bit cold the heating will come on at 4pm ( I was checking in at 3pm) - it was freezing and there wasn't a way for me, as a paying guest, to get warm for at least an hour. Overall this is one of those establishments where they make you feel bad for daring to book with them. Breakfast was just toast and jam but the coffee was ok and the leady serving was friendly.
It was close to the Trafford Centre (10min drive).
I thought it was going to be quirky, but still upscale, however, it was just old fashioned and not very nice. The host answered the door in his joggers - not professional. No breakfast on weekend- how can this happen at a B&B? Holes in the bed sheets because they were so old. Could hear everything from other rooms through the walls. I also wanted to add that reading through the responses by the hotel to reviews almost put me off enough to cancel the booking (would have cancelled if it wasn't non-refundable) - as a customer service leader myself, the responses made me cringe, as there was no apologies to be seen, & they didn't seem to be able to take anything from the comments to improve on their service going forward which was disappointing to see.
Truly lovely staff and a gorgeous B&B. I would recommend the place to anyone that would listen.
