Hotel was in a predominately Quiet Commercial area some 15 minutes walk from the City Centre and Grand Via. There were a number of Fast Food outlets and a small well stocked Supermarket within a 2 to 5 minutes walk. The room was quite spacious for a City Hotel and was spotlessly clean, the beds were firm but comfortable there was a Bath/Shower combined with all the hot water you need and shower gel, shampoo and even toothpaste and toothbrush along with a travel razor and shaving cream were provided. The Buffet Breakfast was of a Good Quality and Variety with both Hot and Cold Choices including Fresh Fruit. All in all a Good Location for those not wanting to stay in the City Centre but easily accessible to the same. Travelling from the Airport to the Hotel on The Metro you needed to use 3 Lines making 2 changes and took approximately 1 hour at a cost of 6 Euro per person and meant walking up and down numerous stairs. On returning to the Airport one of the taxi's from the Hotel cost 30 Euro and took 20 minutes easily a better option.
There were quite a number of 'Homeless' doorway dwellers and Beggars in and around the Grand Via but they were not intimidating more of a nuisance. My wife and I have visited quite a number of Main European Cities where Direction Signs to the main attractions were easily visible this did not appear so in Madrid although most people spoke English better than my Spanish and were more than willing to help.
Location of the hotel is good, close to the metro. The lobby looked nice, the rooms also but a bit oldy.
Our room was close to the entrance hall and thus very noisy. From early in the morning you could hear the wheels of the laundry baskets moving through the corridors waking us up.
Restaurant close early. The hotel room is adjusted to a restaurant and it was very noisy and could not sleep.
The location is convenient and we had a view of the courtyard / fountain.
There was no fitness facility. Before (according to other internet reviews), the hotel would give you a day pass to a nearby gym. During my stay in late December, even that facility was closed. It would have been fine if they had told me at check-in, but I was really looking forward to exercising and was disappointed when they told me that there was none. I think it's a reasonable expectation that if a hotel advertises that they have fitness facilities, that they have it all days of the year.
Clean, high quality hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Near metro San Bernardo. Nice and helpful staff.
My room opened onto the interior fire escape stairways. It was not a pleasant view.
