9,2 Excellent
Pros: The owner's kindness and how clean the whole place was made the day. In addition, breakfast was great
Cons: The third bed is not soft and comfortable enough
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a very thoughtfully designed place that had everything we needed. It was very quiet and easy to sleep. The breakfasts were very nice - fruit, bread, eggs, juice, coffee, yogurt - and we appreciated the shared kitchen. We loved Leiden. It was very central to lots of places we visited but also a very interesting town in its own right. Also loved the walk through the park to get to the B&B. Jan and Wim were great hosts. One of the best places we have stayed.
Cons: The weather, lots of rain - but that wasn't the B&B's fault.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent city centre location, a beautifully refurbished/ restored hotel with staff who could not do more for us. Our flight departed in the evening and the staff allowed us the use of one of our rooms for the day to keep our bags in and leave us with a base to 'work' from. It was an exceptionally generous act from an excellent hostess and staff.
Cons: No lift as it is a very old building not suited for people with mobility issues
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning.....lovely rooms, comfortable beds and bedding, great bathroom......lovely staff and owner, breakfast was amazing....we think this is one of the best Hotel rooms we have stopped in... We would definitely recommend and we will be back.....
Cons: Very steep stairs so ask for a ground floor room if you can’t do steps..,( it didn’t bother us) This isn’t a complaint just to let people know the stairs are very steep but this is a listed building..
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Top location and because of the old building, you simply wander back into time. Great staff and service!
Cons: Nothing at all!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The nicest hotel we have stayed in. Could not fault anything. The room and staff were fantastic.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It was a boutique hotel with plush furnishings, easy to find, nice staff and a good location.
Cons: We were at the front of the hotel on the ground floor. This meant that we were disturbed each morning by the delivery vans outside our window and smokers from the hotel stood right outside our bedroom window, which was a little uncomfortable.

Pros: Friendly staff, all times available during day, great location, walking distance to everything within center. A pleasure to have found this and stay here!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice, small scale boutique hotel in a converted historic military building. Great location on the edge of the old town. Just a few minutes walking to a parking garage. Hotel gives a discount on the parking garage (you pay €7 in stead of €10 per day). Hotel gives coupons for a free entree in two different restaurants. Very friendly staff.
Cons: Our room (nr. 4) on the ground floor was beautifull and spacious, but very close to a restaurant with terrace across the street. This can give some noise in the evening. We didn't mind, but if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room on the first floor.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I love this hotel and I used to stay there all times I go to Liden. The location is primary. The rooms are very nice and cleaned. The foot it s so tasty and the staff it s very kind and professional.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Wonderful staff, welcoming and warm. Very attractive interior. Did I say great location? Breakfast smelt wonderful but I tend not to 'do breakfast' and instead used the very welcome coffee machine in the bedroom.
Cons: Room temperature control. Noise transmission from room to room.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Room design is interesting, nice and comfortable.
Cons: It was tough to carry luggages by staircase to level 2 .
10,0 Excellent
Cons: I didn't realise until after booking that check-in finished at 10pm, and that there was a charge for late check-in. This should have been made very obvious pre-booking.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The coffee was superb. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.
7,0 Good
Pros: The overall look of the hotel is very romantic and the hotel has an excellent location. The staff was was very friendly and made us feel welcome.
Cons: The rooms could already use a little uplift. The staff and organization were a little chaotic, for example we had to reserve a place for breakfast with exact time but when we arrived there was no table available.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good, the dining room is a grand hall with loads of space and the staff were extremely helpful. The location could be described as "off centre."
Cons: Nothing I can think of!

Pros: The staff were lovely and accommodation really good, almost perfect. Location excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

Located in Oegstgeest, Luxury Vintage Hotel Villa Beukenhof is within a 15-minute drive of Keukenhof Gardens and Leiden University. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfy and we had plenty of space to stretch out. The hotel is cleaned to a very high standard and is immaculately presented. We ate in the restaurant one night and the meal was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helped us plan our time to make the most of the area.
Cons: Our aircon system made an irritating ticking sound constantly and despite reporting it, this was not fixed during our stay.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Nice building, good location.
Cons: When we were shown to the room, it was not what was expected - I had understood there to be 2 single beds, but these were beds built into the wall and one of them required climbing up a steep ladder to access. Being in my 60s, I didn't want to climb up a ladder to the bed and asked if it was possible to change rooms. In response, the staff member became increasingly angry towards us and raised her voice. I have never been spoken to in such an aggressive way at a hotel. She said that if we wanted to change rooms, we would need to pay an additional €120 for 2 nights, which was the equivalent of an entire night. After being treated this way we asked if it was possible to be refunded the money so that we could go to a different hotel, but this was refused so we were forced to stay. When we walked back past the reception later, we could hear the same staff member complaining about us to other staff members. While the issue with the room was not ideal, it could have been easily resolved. The real issue was the aggressive way that this staff member acted towards us.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: It is a historic property with a beautiful garden. We didn't have an opportunity to try it, but I sense that the Villa is well known for its restaurant. The location is somewhat outside the city center - only 5-10 minutes by bus but be prepared to wait 15 minutes or so for the bus. Renting a bike is also possible, which makes the commute into the city easy.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely themed room, meal in restaurant very good when we evenually receivd meal.breakfast very good,
Cons: Bathroom a little tired, bathroom towels frayed, very slow service in restaurant
7,5 Good
Pros: We liked the design of the rooms.
Cons: The lighting in the bathroom is very bad - could be lighter. Furthermore, there were no shower gel in the bathrooms - only body lotion, conditioner, shampoo, and soap bar. Breakfast was 19,90 euros - I think far too expensive for what was served.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere of the villa is great, the rooms have character and the garden is magnificent
Cons: Air-con did not work during the heatwave, was VERY hot in the room
5,0 Okay
Pros: We were very excited for our stay in Leiden. The bed was comfortable and the location was convenient for public transport and to get to the grocery store. The restaurant at the property served good food.
Cons: We were disappointed by the cleanliness and smell of the room that we were given on arrival. When we complained, the staff were quick to explain reasons why there was a bad smell in the room which left us wondering why we were given that room in the first place. The room that we were relocated to was better but we already had a bad taste in our mouths.

6,3 Good
Pros: High quality matrasses though! Friendly staff and late bar opening times
Cons: Rooms were stuffy, might be the carpet. We prefer a queen of king bed instead of the Individual beds, with single linnen they provided as being a superior with king size bed.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: great location, comfortable, modern, clean.
Cons: Hotel charged me an extra night because I used the hotel phone to call a friend 30 minutes away in Den Haag (The Hague). Be careful! DON'T under ANY circumstances use the room phone.
6,7 Good
Cons: The basement level. Slightly dark.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Well placed hotel if travelling by car with plenty parking and choose of bistro or restaurant. Excellent choice at breakfast.
Cons: Access from car park to rooms could be made easier to avoid a long trek round. There were doors but some emergency access only and som just locked. The tea and coffee in the room was a bit mean, only enough for one drink and even when asking for extra at reception we only got one more sachet.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very good restaurant with tasty mustard soup and stek. Good breakfast
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great menu and tasty food.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Fair. However after check out i have been charged for 2 breakfasts each day and this is because i had a double room. I emailed the hotel but apparently in the small print you have to inform the hotel how many guests by email, i needed to travel in an emergency for work, and never see the small print. The bed even though a double room was 2 single beds pushed together and same with the duvets. There is a hilton close by use that!
Cons: Been overcharged. Even though its a company booking i still need to justify why there is 2 breakfast and 2x city taxes per day. I also do not like having a 2 single beds when its supposed to be a double.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean rooms jacuzzi in bathroom :) very nice breakfast
Cons: We stayed in a good on -1 floor, which was not very pleasant and no one warns you about that:/
6,7 Good
Pros: the restaurant ( staff and the foods ) The breakfast
Cons: It would be greatful if the receptionist could smile a little

5,8 Okay
Pros: Great part of town
Cons: Building renovations started in our hallway at 8am in the morning. Very loud at all hours, people stomping up and down stairs, music, talking. Requested double bed but got twin.
2,0 Mediocre
Cons: Relaxing and comfortable is not what this hotel offers although that is what they advertise. Unable to sleep with the loud noises Thursday and Friday. Saturday, we discovered a problem with a window in the room and management was not willing to come back to the hotel (or send someone) to resolve the issue. The window wouldn't close and it was 2 degrees c outside! Another sleepless night occurred when the electric motor on the window shorted out and made noises through the entire night. We left the hotel after four sleepless nights to find another hotel where we could sleep, relax and be comfortable.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location for me as I needed to get to the train station early in the morning. Nice people - rooms were fine.
Cons: No complaints.
6,7 Good
Pros: Fully renovated little hotel. Next to train station, at outskirts of city centre.
Cons: Check-in is not 24h. Room was extremely noisy, could not get any sleep, and cold.
3,0 Mediocre
Cons: very noisy! cold in the winter without heating. Do not worth the price.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Good service. Fabulous location. Gorgeous decor. Quaint and stylish. Comfortable bed. Loved it.
Cons: Would be fantastic to have coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Breakfast could do with more variety.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. The hotel had that old dutch house flair, so if you want something authentic, this is a good choice. Spacious room (we had the luxury double room). Nice view from our window. Good breakfast.
Cons: One of the ceilings lights did not work. However there were plenty of lighting options in the room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Personnel was nice and helpful, the location great for walking and only 10 minutes from the station. The room was clean and it had everything needed. The corridors were quiet, although I could hear noise from the street. I definitely recommend.
Cons: The only meal I had was average, the burger had a not so yummy smell and the salad was quite old. Definitely don't eat here.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location. I also liked the fact that this is NOT a hotel-chain place. every room is different, antique furniture. Interesting.
Cons: The building is old, so various issues come up (like there was no hot water for a short while).
7,5 Good
Pros: The ambiance The reception help
Cons: No lift Old bathroom. Stuffy

Pros: Excellent location. Great and spacious bathroom.
Cons: Nothing actually bad. Minor aspect: While the bathroom was very spacious, the room itself felt somewhat small.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice room and very friendly, helpful staff. Can recommend it.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Room was big and cot was provided. Coffee was ok. Bathroom was best part.
Cons: Bill not itemised so no idea what I was charged for. Reception and kitchen late opening at 730am but we are up at 6 with baby. No facilities at all other than the room. Pictures make it look grand but rather rundown. Not worth price. Location worked well as central. We were out all day which you would need to be of staying in this hotel.

7,5 Good
Cons: After a long day out as we returned and wanted to enter our room the key didn’t work so we went to the reception to get it reactivated. But one of the receptionists was pretty loud telling us we have to stand in the very long queue with guests who mostly just arrived wanted to check in. Which meant waiting at least two hours with two sleepy kids only to get to enter our room. I find this completely unprofessional and suggest there should be a desk for checked in guests other than that for checking in and out.
7,9 Good
Pros: Facility this hotels offer
Cons: We had room 224, an outside room, annoying was the electrical switch which provide power to all lights, is not switching off or on individually when you only need 1 light to shine, also if one of my children needs to go to bathroom there is a optical sensor which switch on the light automatically, you can't switch the light off or on. So people will be blind of the light.
7,0 Good
Cons: We went to the swimming pool and sauna, however the sauna was turned off. You had to go back to the reception to ask to turn it on..
5,4 Okay
Pros: -The staff was in general very friendly. Anjou upon check in was very nice en professional. -children playground is very good. -wifi was fine -public areas were spacious en clean.
Cons: -Special request was not accommodated at all. They confirmed to us that they gonna do a little surprise for our daughter first year birthday but nothing was arranged at all. The whole purpose of our stay was to celebrate our daughter first year birthday. -swimmingpool was not heatedm the water was cold en suitable for babies. -Staff were not knowledgeable about hotel own products. We have to ask three staff at the restaurant itself to know what is the cost of the dinner. Non of the staff had an idea about the menu at the dinner buffet. All suggested to come at 5pm en check it ourselves. -TV services in the room were not good. Keep hanging en most of channels did not work. -very noisy(coz of children playground) -not all the food dishes were labled .. -the biefstuk was not cooked enough. - We were told that there will pizza on the menu but it was not. -due to a private conference the hotel was sooo crowded en messy. You supoosed to segregate between the private events en normal hotel guests. It was very disturbing not to be able to enjoy the facilities.
7,0 Good
Pros: Nice selection of hot and cold food Plenty of time to have a leisurely breakfast Lovely leisure facilities pool gym etc. great fun room for kids very polite staff
Cons: Had to wait for our rooms to be ready Staff a little over whelmed by the volume of people in the restaurant in the evening and also in the bar in the afternoon

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and a very nice, clean room. Friendly staff

Cons: The church bell is very loud! Woke me up every half hours

Cons: Bad smell from the sewer in the room and even worse in the bathroom. Shower water was minimal and drained poorly. Bathroom overall a bit shabby. Fluorescent lights above the bed - not so romantic!

Pros: The hotel was smart and clean and in a very good location. Staff friendly too.

5,0 Okay
Pros: A spacious bedroom with a well-equipped bathroom, comfortable furniture.
Cons: Internet speed needs to massively improve, websites took ages to load, the whole room had a dated look and feel.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: It's very old. The staircase is very narrow and the rooms are small. Three bathroom is old and the sheets are smelly.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Leiden is easily accessible from Amsterdam´s Schiphol Airport, about 20 min ride, and is a lovely city worth the visit. Hotel Mayflower is literally minutes away from Leiden Central Railway Station, family business operating for 40 years, in a lovely old building overlooking one of the canals. The room was exceeding the usual size, extra large bathroom, with bath & shower, TV, comfortable bad, coffee/ tea set, clean. Plenty of restaurants in the area. Landmarks labelled well. Good places to shop.
Cons: WiFi was at times painfully slow and there´s no hairdryer in the bathroom. Owing to the central location, can be a bit loud in the evenings of the weekend.
7,0 Good
Pros: The location is perfect, staff very friendly, breakfast enough for me.
Cons: Oh, would I have liked a better pillow on the bed and the plugs around the room more accessible to be used for charging phones etc. As well as for the water kettle. Trivial? Not really. Important for the comfortable use of the room.
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: There is nothing positive of note to mention. I wouldnt recommend anyone stay here.
Cons: Broken toilet, mouldy walls, rude and indifferent staff, unreachable line (if you call the front desk you get a taxi service who takes a message and brings it to staff who roundly ignore it), broken refrigerator, unclean smell, unfair room assignment, cleaning staff leaves garbage and supplies all over the stairs making it harder to navigate safely, especially with baggage. I could go on.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Lovely quaint interiors. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that I had a fridge in the room, very convenient in my case. Good choice of room lighting, comfortable chairs, and nice cozy feel. Huge and comfortable bed: that's a big plus!
Cons: There was a little confusion with the payment, but the hotel cleared it up when alerted and apologized, so no big issue: these things happen. Also, should it be important for you to need your phone charging overnight and being on the night table, make sure you bring a long cable or an extension cord, as there wasn't a socket near my bed (it could vary by room, though). Wasn't an issue for me.

Cons: Friendly, clean, wellcoming and spacius.

6,3 Good
Pros: High quality matrasses though!

Overview Reviews
Put your bags down and start relaxing. With the convenient location in the heart of the city opposite to Leiden Central Station, our hotel is the perfect place from which to explore the Key City. Walk through the Hortus Botanicus, the oldest botanical garden of the Netherlands located next to Leiden University. In the morning you can enjoy a rich breakfast buffet, a good start to the day. The hotel is easily accessible by car and public transport.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, good location, friendly staff. Everything was fine.
Cons: When I book a place I got one price, in hotel I pay price which is 25€ more than what I got. And breakfast price which is 16.50€ is to much for 3* hotel.
7,5 Good
Pros: Excellent location. No pre-payment. Cancellation at any time.
Cons: Bed was extremely soft. Small room. Breakfast variety from day to day was none. Towels were changed although I left them for reuse.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location great and helpful staff very friendly.
1,0 Poor
Pros: Location was good. Did not have breakfast there.
Cons: Everything could have been better! - The room size was sooo small. Can't imagine how you can sell that for a family. It should only be for a single person. No amenities in the room. Not even a kettle and complimentary tea/coffee. This is how miser Ibis can be. the quality of beds was horrible. The twin beds were put together for us and they kept on shifting as they were so light (low quality). Overall the experience for the price we spent was pathetic. We are never booking any Ibis property again!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location top! Staff very friendly, good accommodations.
Cons: The difference between the 'premium' and 'normal' rooms is close to zero, except the latter are cheaper. The location of premium rooms is on the top floors with a view on the city. However we had a room on the fifth floor (premium) with the next room, exactly the same next to us was 'not premium'. That is a bit disappointing. The rooms are a bit small.

Pros: Very Clean. Great location next to Leiden Centraal station
Cons: Walls are thin, noise from guests in adjacent rooms and floor above can be heard
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Bit cold in the room but they provided extra heating.
Cons: Air conditioning
7,9 Good
Pros: Good bed and shower, located near train station walking distance to historical center
Cons: thin walls, in room hearing water running and people waking. Wellness branding a joke as you only have access 7-9.30 am... other times it is a separate run facility. Access difficult due to construction and elevators not working
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location by Railway Station and short walk to city centre. Good buffet breakfast
5,4 Okay
Pros: The gentleman at the reception was very professional and helpful.
Cons: Very dirty carpets very uncomfortable room the safe wasn’t working and no mini bar. The gym was a joke dirty, and a dump place for old tables and chairs.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms etc
Cons: The only annoying aspect was not being able to walk thru train station, instead one has to walk around the block to get to historic side of leiden. I know that's not the hotel's fault
