The guesthouse is very well located, about a 3min walk from Nijo castle, and the sam edistance away from Nijo station. This is a JR station that can take you anywhere in the city very easily. With a JR pass it was very easy to travel cheap and all the way out to the mountains via one train.
Located in small street within a japanese neighbourhood, you are close to both subway and bus. I personally took the bus everyday to visit and you can go anywhere. Around you got some restaurant and if you like walking you can go to the food street easily, or even close to Kyoto city hall by walking around twenty, thirty minutes. The facilities are great, it’s well clean and the personal is really nice. You can meet people from around the world and have small chat with them.
Don’t forget to bring your towels or you will be fine with a small extra, but everything else is given.
It feels like home, very peaceful area, nice neighborhood and you got everything you need in just a few minutes walk like grocery stores, bakery, restaurants and boutiques
Very good location and opportunity to do a cooking class (paid) in the accommodation.
At check in had to pay a 5% fee to pay for the accommodation by card, which we hadn't been warned about in advance so hadn't brought enough cash with us to pay. Staff were ok, not that informative or overly helpful, we didn't feel that comfortable at the homestay. Only one toilet upstairs for 2 dorm rooms and no proper sink (8 people in our room, unsure if the same in the other). 2 showers and 1 other toilet/sinks were downstairs, off of the dining area/kitchen. Bunk beds had ridiculous curtains on a line that had to be kept shut with pegs and on the top bunk it was so low that you could see the person in the next bed if either of you sat up.
Felt like walking in someone’s house. Very friendly and charming hospitality.
