8,8 Excellent
Pros: food is excellent despite it being a buffet. Staff esp F&B manager went out of their way to help. They also do a small family & stroller-friendly hike (optional as a long hike over rough terrain) once a week up the mountain with a typical mountain lunch "picnic". There's apparently a great playground and "abenteuerspielplatz" on the grounds but my kids didn't get past the indoor and outdoor pools and slides. There are a few family friendly mountain outings nearby (5-30min drive) - hiking, boating, outdoor playgrounds, eg gondola up to Wagrain & Geisterberg. The hotel makes packed lunches available for hikers as well as to those who have long drive back home. Inside the hotel there's also an interactive work of art, a wooden ball (fits marbles) track that goes 2stories down along the staircase.
Cons: dinner hours are terrible: kids dinner is only 18-18:30 and is just junk food (only food at the bar available for those who feed their kids early). Then they close the whole restaurant until 19:30 when a swarm collects and stampedes the area once door reopens. Table grabbing is vicious. Dinner is also only served til 21:00 so the onslaught in the food queues is also feverish. It makes dinner a very disagreeable daily occasion. I don't know why they can't just have a section near the door be the kids buffet open from say 17 or 17:30 and just keep the restaurant doors open to guests while staff then brings & lays out the adult fare (like at seekarhaus in obertauern). Also not great is the traffic at the german-austrian border (both ways). That's why i didn't give location full marks. We left at the crack of dawn to avoid doubling or tripling our travel time. I personally also hate the austrian practice of 2 mattresses to create a large bed. A mattress toppe would be great as one tends to fall into the crevice. Also the baby bed style (gitterbett) is dangerous for the baby since his arms and legs kept getting stuck between the rods. It was also disagreeable for me since the mattress is so low to the ground -- even with 3 mattresses it's a prescription for aching back. I kept the baby in the large bed and only used the baby bed as a temporary holding pen. I didn't like that the guests were only caucasian Europeans (zero diversity despite the diversity in Austria and Europe). That might not be the hotel's fault but perhaps they should consider how to improve their advertising in order to attract a more diverse audience (at least ethnically)

Cons: n/a
5,0 Okay
Pros: Large rooms. very nice people. Good food
Cons: Old fashion decoration. Sink blocked. Shower rusty. Very small old tv.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: nice newly furbished rooms and bathrooms, clean
Cons: I would never clasify it as 4star hotel. It is family run pension with nice rooms, but services are not what you expect from 4star hotel. No elevator, sauna too small so you can´t use it as it is always fully booked and occupied.Breakfast buffet is quiet limited and dinner salad buffet also. Not as a selection what you are normally used to from austrian 4star hotels.
