Dinner/service in the Grill was excellent. Breakfast was nice despite some tables being too small. Lots of sanitizer everywhere so no excuse to not keep your hands clean!
Dinner & service in the Yew restaurant was not good. No kettle or fridge in the exec room we stayed in upon arrival. The bed is two single beds put together and not all that comfortable - felt like it had broken springs. Service in Tuppers Bar is poor. We were not alone in having to go to the bar asking could we order only to be told that someone would come and take our order. We have visited Lyrath previously and the service was the same, so I can't say it's due to the post lockdown. Felt like it need about another 2 to 3 staff members.
Honestly, I think maybe my expectations were too high. We checked in and got an upgrade to a superior king room, excited we went to the room to find 2 single beds pushed together, we rang down to check did we get the right room, house keeping came up to check the room (no mask), she came in and undressed the bed (pillows and all) to show us the single beds were taped together (but still gapped). Now this would be fine in a normal 4 star, but as an anniversary weekend, I really felt a bit cheated having such an uncomfortable bed. She then re made the bed with us standing there awkwardly. I am a chronic asthmatic and with covid around, I felt really uncomfortable as this was a 20 minute procedure. I rang down to express this and we were given another room. The next room was great, no complaints, really nice. Girl from reception was super helpful! We booked breakfast a week in advance for 11am, it was being held in (I think) the banquet room, in our side of the room, there were 7 tables seated total. In the 55 minutes we waited for our tea and coffee, only one table was served food. Now I’m not sure if this was due to lack of staff or just the different layout, but either way I think it was unacceptable. Coffee arrived spilled and cold. Then 15 minutes later, food arrived in dribs and drabs (toast 15 minutes after fry), I don’t mind waiting for food when it’s good, but this was bad, raw doughy croissants and sub standard fried food. The lady, who I presume was front of house was very nice and helpful. Obviously, it wasn’t her fault, and I completely understand this was only the 6th day open since lock down, things are different and it’s challenging but I really feel it was absurd. I happened to be asking about the spa in reception after, and mentioned the experience at breakfast. Two lovely staff members there asked questions and were very apologetic.
Very poor service at breakfast. Appeared to be badly organized.
