The Oberoi set a new standard for service for us. We picked this hotel for our honeymoon and it surpassed all expectations. Food was spectacular, the Indian restaurant was truly magical; vibe, taste, portions, setting all right on point. The room was so much better than what we saw in pictures; spotless, all the amenities you would need and more, and its the little things that really made it super special (in room entertainment menu, popcorn, wide variety of pillows, the sunken bathtub and of course, the private pool. Most hotels share similarities, but what really stood out was the staff and their training, you could tell this property cared for their staff and in turn they care so much for their guests. I even got a call after I left from the housekeeping manager telling me they will ship an item I forgot to my home on the other side of the country in one day!
On our fourth day the standing shower's drain was giving off a bad smell, they fixed in while we were out for a few hours. We were there on peak season so occupancy was in the high 80s and the golf car (buggies) would take some time to get to you.
Service is one of the best we have seen anywhere in the world. Staff are attentive and friendly and always exceed expectations. The suites are luxurious and very spacious with a v practical dressing room. Housekeeping is impeccable. breakfast buffet leaves nothing to desire especially that it is complemented by daily gourmet à la carte items (included in BB price), restaurant staff get you what you need before you even ask for it (thank you Mariam). Front desk staff couldn't be more courteous (and super friendly with your kids). The library is a haven for book worms both in books variety, serenity and view. Pool and beach staff gets you cold water bottles, cold towels, colds drinks and fresh cut watermelon, etc (all free of charge)
The small strip of sandy beach is at the far end of the hotel, and it's not the best sandy beach you can find on the red sea, yet the jetty access is very neat and the service there as well is v good and snorkeling is super nice with all kinds of fish and clear water. The pool is definitely in need of an overhaul, but as we were told by staff the hotel is always busy making it difficult to close the pool for a renovation. The sunbathing backyards of the suites are nice and spacious but if the walls were slightly higher would make for more privacy otherwise it defeats the purpose. Pillows are too soft. One last comment for VERY long term consideration, if there was a way for beds in the sea view suites to be also facing the sea that would be a killer.
Food was very well prepared and presented. The variety was amazing. The room was very clean, and attention to detail was on point.
Alcoholic beverages should be more accessible.
More night activities needed
