Cons: Staff could have been friendlier but overall not a bad experience
Pros: New car, friendly staff, limited wait...they send you an email with pictures of the car from walk through with all the markings ( if any). Drop off was easy too
Agent lied about rate for upgrade
Cons: Price charged by Hertz was not in line with price quoted to me by Hertz agent.
Pros: We got a Mercedes for our drive due to a lack of opals which was great! Staff was also pleasant

Feel cheated by Hertz
Cons: They did not inform us of the right gas for the car in a confusing country when it came to gas (Portugal). As a result, the car broke down after we filled up the car. We connected with the roadside assistance team who continually promised that help would come in "30 to 45 minutes". We ended up standing on the side of the highway in Portugal for over 4 hours, at which point a tow truck driver and ill equipped taxi showed up to help us. The tow truck driver assured us we would not pay for the problem. After 5 hours, the taxi finally got us to a new Hertz location (although they were about to close and would have closed and left us stranded if we had not called to guarantee that someone would be there within their stated hours to help us). After giving us a replacement car, we had to alter our trip to deal with the delay we incurred, and spent more money due to Hertz. When we returned the car, they charged us for the mistake they caused and didn't provide anyone to receive a complaint or explain their decision. This review will likely have limited impact on Hertz, but hopefully people can avoid a company and team in Portugal that clearly didn't care about their customer, their well-being, or providing anywhere close to a satisfactory experience.

Pros: No fee to drop car off in Lisbon airport (rented out of Porto). I know this is not necessarly standard or applicable to all one way rentals through Hertz, but for me it was the reason I went with them. Ended up with great front office staff, very affordable rental price. Clean car, no hassles or hidden surprises. I think I drove ~500 km and paid more in petro than for the 4 day rental. Front office was also very understanding of my wish to use personal credit card insurance coverages and did not push their insurance on me. I appreciate that. I don't speak very much Portuguese, they spoke excellent English. The staff member took time to explain the inner functions of the car, took detailed examination of any damages prior to my rental. All things I look for in quality service.
Cons: Honestly, there really is nothing I found dissatisfactory. If anything, the check out process was quite rushed, but reasonably so, they are very busy at the airport with continual stream of cars to be checked in. I felt like he didn't explain or take time to ensure me there were no damages or extra fees upon check out, but like I said, they are busy and thankfully I survived without any scratches or window shield chips!
Do not buy insurance via Kayak for our of country
Pros: The issues is with Kayak . They recommended to buy US insurance for International car rent. It was completely waste of money and I had to buy local insurance
