The jacuzzi tub worked.
The comforter on the bed was badly stained (NASTY!) and so we did not even use it. No additional bedding was provided besides a single sheet. The bathroom had mildew in the corners and the shower curtain rod was partially broken off the wall - we were not about to use the shower and have it fall in on us. One of the walls was badly scratched up - a little paint would have fixed that in five minutes, but I don't know if anyone is working on this property. The knob for the air conditioner was broken and I had to turn it with a pair of pliers I had in the car. The "breakfast" was the biggest (or smallest?) joke I've ever seen of a meal. First off, the "breakfast" room was mostly taken up with a single table for six or so and you could barely fit around it to get to the meager offerings - when we arrived an hour before the end of the the breakfast time, all that was left were two pre-packaged microwavable sausage biscuits and some milk. YOU SHOULD NOT BE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO CALL THIS A BREAKFAST! We just left and ate elsewhere. I wish we would have just STAYED elsewhere instead, or just gone on home early. This motel was far MORE EXPENSIVE than anywhere else, but was far from the best. In fact, this was the worst place I have stayed in at least 15 years. I won't be back to this place ever, and I may never stay in Helen, GA again, if this is how the city is going to allow their businesses to be run. I think we should complain to the Helen Chamber of Commerce and put this place out of business or just force them to spend some time and effort on cleaning the nasty place up!
I did not stay for breakfast. The hotel needs immediate updating such as outside painting and cleanliness around the property. It is very very shabby . The room was clean but very bad lamp shades and drapery did not close properly. I would not stay again unless improvements made. The staff was friendly enough but not at all professional looking in dress. This is a truly run down property.
all of the above noted issues.
The room was spacious and cleanliness was par. Contained a refrigerator, microwave and a really nice TV. Air conditioning worked really well. Location is amazingly quiet. The young man at the front desk was very personable and helpful. It was convenient to Cleveland where I visited Babyland...home of the Cabbage Patch Kids...interesting. Little girls would love it! Also nearby is the former home of one of Georgia's governors in the 1920's..Hardman Farm. Lovely old mansion...interesting history. Also on the property is an Indian mound which has a small interesting history. Nearby the mansion is the loveliest little church! Good restaurants in Helen. Convenient to Hiawassee and Dawsonville.
Helen is somewhat congested making it a little difficult to get around and also all the buildings look so much alike it is difficult to find anything.
Breakfast was not diabetic friendly, but we made it work :)
Lighting in room
We got really spooked at midnight when the manager came to our door and attempted to get into our room. It was a rather forceful attempt and really spooked to my wife. We called the police to make a report. We feel he clearly knew we were in that room since we were the only car parked in front of that area directly in front of the room and he even walked us to the room and let us in. Just ruined our night sleep. We will not be back
