Hotel within 10 mins walk of Main Street, restaurants and bars. Bedroom a decent size with comfy bed and good shower. Buffet breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold options, and all staff friendly and willing to help.
This is what we have written to the manager: To the manager I have been awake from 2am, when the air conditioner in our room suddenly started making an extremely loud noise, sounding like a construction drill was breaking through the wall. Both my husband and I woke in a great shock and ran over to see what was going on. I felt seconds away from a heart attack. The air conditioner then began to spit out ice cubes. Once we realised what was going on we had to switch it off and it did not want to work silently afterwards but rather continued the drilling noise. As a result - no air conditioning thereafter. And of course no sleep after that shock. So we have been awake from 2am, after being awake since 4am yesterday to fly from jhb to ct. We had gone to bed at 11pm as we had attended the sparcely attended dinner time stories. This was supposed to have been a relaxing quick getaway and is instead a nightmare altogether. When I had gone to have a shower and to my horror the shower cap was used and shoved haphazardly back into the box. Upon opening there were clear signs of residue and particles that was disgusting and unhygienic, especially given the current health situation we find ourselves in! Shocking and this left me wondering what else was reused/not properly cleaned or changed. Sheets? Towels? Glasses? Disgusting. I came here perfectly healthy. Right now I'm more concerned about catching something from this room then Corona. Unbelievable. Pathetic shower pressure. Upon entering the room there were no robes or slippers which are pretty standard hotel amenities. Construction - no information on the current construction neighbouring the villas was given. I would not have booked here knowing that instead of picturesque, serenity of Franschoek, I would be spending my afternoon listening to bangs and drills from a construction site... although still nothing compared to that dreadful air conditioner in my room.
The view over the lake and the mountains was amazing. Breakfast was superb and the room was extremely comfortable.
The wifi was sporadic and eventually gave up.
The room that we had was enormous with a luxurious, comfy bed. A huge walk-in shower or a sunken bath tub to choose from...and a balcony to watch the sun go down. Beautifully quiet with lovely bedding and soft furnishings. A real treat!
When we first arrived and sat by the lake, it took a long time to be served...but this improved as the evening went on.
