Grassmarket Hotel is in an easy to find location, near to buses, not far from tram, and walking distance to most areas of interest. The property is extremely clean and the front desk staff (kudos to Liz and Ewa) are super helpful. The restaurant/bar next door gives a 15% discount to guests of the hotel.
Not a thing.
The hotel was perfect location.
The beds were tiny and the duvets thin and not at all soft, almost like cardboard. My daughter had the most uncomfortable nights sleep.
Location was good for my needs - easy access to National Museum. But ...., it was noisy at night and very busy.
The single room I occupied (205) was extremely small. There was no dressing table. The en suite needed some non-slip material in the shower (or a grab handle. It was very slippery when wet. Instructions and information were lacking. No instructions on how to operate and adjust the shower. Similarly, no information about regulating the heating. The pub downstairs was incredibly noisy and the thumping music which seemed to go on until well after 11 p.m. made sleeping difficult. And, why were the walls covered in Dandy comic wallpapers (with a copy of the Dandy annual in the room)? And why was there only one coffee sachet each day? It was nice to have freshly ground coffee, but the means of opening the packet and making it seemed very complex. Access to my room was also very difficult and involved taking the lift to the first floor and then proceeding along various corridors and up and down steps. I managed, but someone with less mobility (and/or heavy luggage) would have struggled.
The room for £ 153.- was a rabbit-hole. Very noisy and unconfortable. The worsted romm evervin this price catogorie.
I liked the unique features of the property and the location. It was central to everything. Plenty to do nearby.
There was nothing I disliked about the property, it was excellent and had everything I needed!
