Top tips for hiring a car at Dayton airport

  • It is easier to get a ride that suits your budget and style at Dayton Airport car rentals. Thankfully, a large selection of quality vehicles is tailored to make your trip comfortable and exciting. At KAYAK, we partner with rental companies that add more fuel-efficient cars to their fleet every year. This means more savings on your side. Choose from a wide variety of models in the compact, economy, standard, mid-size, full-size, premium, or luxury classes. No matter your choice, car rentals at Dayton Airport have something to fit your needs at an unbeatable rate backed by top-notch service.
  • Once you’re at Dayton International Airport (DAY), proceed to the rental kiosks inside the arrivals terminal to sign the rental agreement. Other counters are located on Terminal Drive (a short walk south of the arrivals). The representatives at the counters will direct you to the parking lot after handing you the keys. If you are using valet service, the manager will escort you to the vehicle and give you the return details.
  • Normally, a car rental at Dayton Airport requires clients to drop off vehicles at the same location they picked them up. The return area and key drop locations are marked to make your work easier. Several companies share the parking space on each level, so watch out for signposts to avoid parking in the wrong slot. On-site returns made outside of normal working hours are allowed. You simply park, lock the car, and place the contract and keys in the drop box at the rental office. Then the attendants will check the car for mileage and any damages. If you paid for the rental car in advance, you will receive a receipt via mail. If any charges are pending, the company will send you the bill in about 48h.
  • Some car rental agencies at DAY provide off-site facilities as return areas. This could be a small location in the city of Dayton where you’ll find an attendant. If you have to settle some payments, follow their instructions and leave the car at the designated spot. Read the fine print to determine if you are liable for damages that may happen if you leave the car at the wrong places.
  • Book your car hire at Dayton airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about hiring a car at Dayton airport

  • How can I save on the cost of my car rental at Dayton Airport?

If you are looking for the most affordable trips around Dayton, a few tips can improve your savings. First, know the type of vehicle that suits your budget. Avoid renting more than you need. Secondly, take advantage of the filters on our landing page to make comparisons of car rentals prices offered by different suppliers. Finally, be smart when looking over the mileage and fuel policy. Unlimited mileage could save you bucks in long-distance travel and protect you from penalties of exceeding the daily allowance. As for fuel, opt for a full-to-full agreement.

  • What is the best insurance coverage for my rental car?

When it comes to insurance, strive to get the best value possible. It may not seem like a sensible move when trying to save money on your car rental, but it is worthwhile. Consider how much you will be risking while driving without insurance versus what you could save if you paid for road protection in advance. Most car rental deals provide a basic cover for bodywork, so if the car gets lost or sustains damage, the replacement cost will be on you. Consider buying extra insurance before your trip so you don’t leave anything to chance.

  • What’s the minimum age to rent a vehicle at Dayton International Airport?

Anyone who is 21 or older can rent a car but it is important to review the supplier’s policy. Sometimes, there are surcharges for those under 25 and rentals for high-end models. A driver’s license is a must, but you must check if your rental company has requirements on the level of driving experience.

  • Which car hire companies will pick you up at Dayton airport?

Car hire companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Dayton airport to off-airport locations include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz, National, and Thrifty.

Horrible. The morning of my family trip I took an uber to the location to pick up the vehicle I had reserved months ago. I was told they had no vehicles and I could wait to see if someone brought one back, but nothing was guaranteed. I waited hours and nothing ever happened. I finally had to uber back home. Luckily there are new sites out there where people rent vehicles and I was saved. I still spent $100 in uber fees and hours of my time because how unprofessional budget is.

Horrifically shitty. I had to make a change to my reservation so I called Avis and was informed they can't change anything on my reservation and I'd have to go through Kayak where I'd made the reservation. I was never able to contact Kayak but found where the site said any changes to the reservation had to be done through the renting agency. Completely worthless, I cancelled the reservation being left no other choice and when trying to rebook the same day, prices had more than doubled. 100% unsatisfactory, I rebooked through another provider and will not be using Kayak in the future.
