It’s in an amazing setting, very comfortable
Set in acres of parklands adjacent to Essex University campus with large natural lakes, contemporary fountains and wildlife. My emergency stay ahead of a difficult shut down period could not have been managed more sensitively. Large, modern wing overlooking an oval garden with white birch bursting into flower on one side and semi formal gardens from the brasserie side. It is understated luxury that has been designed on old principles with a long, wide, covered orangery style link corridor with viewing windows and seating to catch the western setting sun. It invites one to take time and sit. The rooms have a Mac computer which is also the TV monitor. Large opening windows, super comfortable Hypnos beds. Easy to operate shower ( not too clever)! Most importantly the staff. Relaxed and friendly but utterly professional in what they do. This was a memorable stay in beautiful spring weather. Thank you.
Staff were very accommodating with no fuss. Nothing was too much trouble me. Food was excellent
Great location, close to the university of Essex (15min walking). Relatively quiet, most of the time as I was studying. Very clean and had hand sanitizer in the room. I found staff were accommodating in the restaurant (as I am coeliac) and provided me with some good GF options. Also found the hotel to be accommodating with my request for a late check out.
It was a bit hot at times in the rooms but other than that lovely.
The staff definitely made this break for us! So friendly, helpful and welcoming. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Room was beautiful and cocktails were delicious.
Morning breakfast wasn’t good - raw sausage - but was quickly rectified with a replacement. Maybe better portions/hotter if we had gone to the restaurant rather than order room service.
