About the Kia automobile: The cruise control was lagging a little bit when changing the speed even by one or two mph. The gas mileage was not as good as a Nissan Versa, and poor gas mileage in city driving. Much appreciated the headlights were NOT LED lamps! (Lacking an ambient diffusion, LED lights are very wrong for nighttime driving on rural interstates, creating a real liability.) The Kia was roomy for an economy car and well-designed interior for travel. About the Budget representative at Erie Int Airport: Professional and courteous. I would recommend Budget based on the customer service. Thank you.

The Kia car was extremely hard to get in and out of, hard to move the front seats and was dented when I got it, so it looked shabby. Budget did not discount it because it was dented, although they certainly would have charged me if I dented it!

The rental car counters are located INSIDE the Erie airport but are not marked from outside the airport. We drove around the airport twice before deciding to go inside the terminal to ask.

Billed $50 more than quoted priceThe car was okay. This was an extremely frustrating experience for me. I picked up a vehicle, drove 5 miles before stopping at a gas station and when I went to start the car it wouldn't start. I had to wait for a tow and by the time I got back and got a new car three hours had passed. I wasn't able to start my 7 hour journey as planned and I was charged $10 for an extension to keep the vehicle longer. I was also charged a base rate of $153, when I was quoted $112 (included taxes and fees). After additional taxes and fees were added to the $153, the cost was $200 for 24 hours.
5.2 OkayJul 6 2017
WaitThe woman behind the counter was nice. My issue was with having to wait 15 minutes for the car to be cleaned and prepped before I was able to leave.

Got a free upgrade and pick-up and drop-off were quick and easy. The car was clean.Car was in need of maintenance; particularly oil and it kept beeping with a notification. Other than that, everything was great.

They canceled my reservation three days before I was expected to pickup the car stating they don’t take debit cards.

Drop off was super easy.Telling the customer all the facts and not throwing me under the bus when I’m 400 miles from home and HAVE to have a car that I don’t get it for the price I received for!!!

I got the type of car I reserved. Car was clean and ready to go. Staff got me taken care of fairly quick. The fuel charges were not explained well. I missunderstood the final bill and thought I was overcharged but I think the fuel charges get sorted later after fueling.

On the very last day I did not get the gentleman's name. But he had blonde hair. But he was very polite and announced me by my last name which I love! It shows he has manners and did not call me by my first name. It was pretty crowded but I got out at a efficient time. When I first checked in Miss Kristen had call me by my first name I like to be called by my last name. Otherwise everything else was great and she upgraded me to a full size car without additional cost. I did not expect that great customer service!

Clean and affordable late model vehicles.Great customer service! My vehicle was ready when I arrived to pick it up. The cost was quite competitive, and the 2018 Nissan Versa that I rented exhibited no problems during use.

The car I got (Chevy Cruz) got good gas mileage, ran well. Had no issues to hinder my weekend events. TYThis was not what I ordered. I ordered a Nissan Altima or better and got a chevy cruz. (at least 2 downgrades) with no explanation. Also was given max insurance when I asked for the $20 total/per day and he still gave me the $27 total/per day. Was dissappointed in the way this like I was manipulated from the start. :(

Dont take the airport enterprise unless you are flcar was awesomeThe airport Enterprise would not let me rent without a credit (not debit card) unless I had a return flight number. We went to the local Enterprise and was able to rent by payng the 2 weeks in advance, which I was ok with. Almost ruined my vacation!

No unable to rent car because they run a credit check. i was paying cash. the credit agencies control everything about our ives. it is an abuse of personal information. Based in only partial information, does not include 50 years of on time monthly expense payments like electric, rent, water, phone.Apparently they all require this was only an attempt to guarantee i had a way to the airpirt very early morning. Fortunately, my UBER driver back home, agreed to pick me up at 6 a.m. and take me there. Who really needs a fucking rental car anyway.

Pickup was fine. Drop-off location is closed. Hertz has the correct location on their website, however KAYAK is listing a CLOSED location.

The staff was very quick and got me in-and-out fast on both the pick up and drop off.The car was a crappier model than what I was expecting. There was some sort of mechanical issue that was causing vibration and noise. It smelled like it had been smoked in for all of its 14,000 miles. The steering wheel was sticky. The vehicle braked suddenly and unexpectedly while I was driving.

They were there in a pinchThe godawful car that I got from the Newark Hertz got a flat tire and the Pocono Township Hertz was nearby. They let us swap out the bad car for one that had four working tires. It would have been nice if I didn't have to stop here in the first place.

Top tips for hiring a car in Erie

  • Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMT) manages the city’s transit buses, the downtown circulator, and the Bayliner Trolley that you can use to get around the city cheaply. Like in any other city, EMT facilities have the limitation of pre-decided routes and schedules that Erie car rentals help you break free from. Besides enjoying a luxury experience with car rentals in Erie, you’ll be able to explore the city as you wish. For instance, renting a car will allow you to visit key sites, such as the Erie Zoo, Presque Isle State Park, Asbury Woods, among other places within and further from the city. You can also rush to urgent meetings and take impromptu detours without the added stress of waiting to catch a certain bus and finding your way around the city on foot.
  • Erie International Airport is six miles from the central business district of Erie. For convenience, the car rental center is located on the airport’s premises. There are various Erie car rentals in the rental center, including Avis, Enterprise, Alamo, Budget, Hertz, Easirent, National, and Sunnycars. The rental representatives can be found at the counters near the boarding gate, where you’ll be given the rental car’s keys and proceed to pick the car at the baggage claim area. The aforementioned rental companies also provide shuttle buses that’ll pick you up at the terminal and take you to nearby off-airport locations.
  • Erie is common with jaywalking and cyclists who aren’t keen on following traffic rules, so be cautious when driving around. To maintain highway safety, the Department of Transport responsible for the city roads may restrict vehicles from using certain roads or temporally lower speed limits due to winter conditions. Always be vigilant for such restrictions. It’s challenging to drive in the winter, as the roads tend to be slippery and with limited visibility. When driving in such conditions, give trailers space, drive slowly, and pay attention to people.
  • During a normal workweek, rush hour in Erie begins at around 6:30am and peaks from around 7:30am to 8am. Congestion starts clearing slowly, and the traffic starts moving normally at around 8:30am. It then slows down again at around 5pm, comes to a standstill at around 6pm, starts moving by around 7pm, and clears around 7:30pm. To avoid wasting an hour or so in the traffic, leave earlier or wait until the traffic congestion clears after the peak hours. Avoid Interstate 90, the 1-79, and the freeways altogether during rush hours.
  • Book your car hire in Erie at least 2 weeks before your trip in order to get a below-average price
  • Supplier choice car hires in Erie are around 3% cheaper than other car types, on average
