When driving in Cluses, you would definitely benefit from driving a high-performance vehicle, such as a powerful 4x4, if you are planning on spending time driving near the ridge of the Alps. However, if you are planning on staying local, you can easily enjoy your driving experience with a standard economy vehicle. Roads are well-surfaced and should present no issues at all.
Cluses has standard speed limits, like most of Europe, and you will notice them being marked in kilometres. Monitor the weather and use this as a gauge for your speed, as well as if you’re near a school or high foot traffic area. In the urban centre, keep speeds slow at 50 km (30 mph). When driving on larger main roads or in rural areas, the speed limit goes to 80 km (50 mph). On motorways, you can drive at 130 km (80 mph).
Cluses has a surprising amount of free car parks. Look for great spots such as Parking Claude Anthoine, Parking Rue des Fleurs, Parking de l'Épinette, 6 Rue Marcellin Berthelot Parking, and others. You can also find street parking with ease, but many streets have no lines, meaning no parking. Make sure there is space on the sides before leaving your vehicle. Paid car parks are available in the centre of the town and average about €0.75 (£0.65) per hour.

Cons:
Good morning, so before i start to ask you how we will handle this situation, I will tell you my situation from yesterday: I booked a car on Sunday evening via kayak.com for 15 days and went to the station in Cluses, France to pick it up there one day later on Monday. It took me more then two hours with the bus and train and I had to pay 9€ for the drive which was (at that moment) OK for me. When I came to the renting center and asked for my car, the lady told me "just a small thing Mrs. Bair, your car only has summer tires". At the first moment I thought this woman makes a joke. It is snowing since more then a week through here in the French alps and in Megéve where I live for the winter is completely snow roadway. Also it was written nowhere, when I booked the car on the i ternet. So i kindly asked her if she has snow chains and she couldn't even offer me this. After that I asked which car she has which has winter tires on and she told me the next car will be availeble in 3 days (where I already will be working in Megéve because it was on my free day where I wanted to pick up the car) so the only option I had was either risking my life with a car with summer tires in the snowy alps in mid of december or cancel the reservation. But due to the fact that I am not suicidal, I decided to cancel my reservation. So I had to drive home to Megéve again for another 9€ bus and train costs and already paid my renting car insurance for 130€. I coulnd't even reach them yesterday in America to cancel it and also paid 15,-€ for calling to America with no result. So all i got from yesterday was no car, spending my free of work day for nothing in the end and paying €163,- for insurance I don't need and driving costs. Now I am asking you, how you would handle that situation? I think I have the right to get at least the insurance paid back from you, the costs for calling I had to make and the driving costs on the way back (which I wouldnt have had with the car). Next to that a nice apologize would be appreciated aswell due to the fact I felt like not taken serious yesterday. I am student so it is a lot of money for me which I can not just throw out of the window. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. Best regards, Philomena BairOne location in Cluses
