We selected a Hyundai Elantra online but were given a different vehicle with only 1/2 tank of gas. The employees didn’t even ask if a substitute vehicle was okay. Was also charged an absurd 20% tax, which is more than 4x the tax rate of our home state VA and which is 2x the tax rate of the state we rented from, NY. Nobody told us about that tax rate and it came as a total surprise. Probably won’t rent from Hertz again.

Compact SUV

KAYAK
I went to pick up my car 10 minutes early than the scheduled pick-up time (pick-up time was noon and I arrived at 11:50 a.m.) and the location was closed. I was not able to pick-up my car. Instead I had to take a $100, one hour Uber to Albany as that was the closest location for me to pick-up another car. Then I had to pay DOUBLE to rent from what I had paid Kayak/Enterprise. I am extremely disappointed and I will not be using Kayak to book again.

Pros:

Excellent service with renting the vehicle. answered all the questions we had about the GMC we rented. Drop off was easy .

Cons:

I didn't care so much for the model I rented for the long trip we took, there were a lot of little things ,not Avis fault but GMC the way they designed the car. I can go on and on about this but If I had to rent another car I would come back to Avis. by the way this is a great way to check a car out before you buy! I would not buy this GMC SUV. but my next trip I would definitely go back to Avis.
