Many problems. Unexpected chargesPros:The car was clean and new (actually I was the first one to rent it). after many discussions I got the car I ordered. When there was a technical problem with the car, the customer support lady (Paula) was very kind.Cons:The line in the pick up was very long (about an hour of waiting). The guy in the pick up tried to push me a smaller car (7 seater car). He said that the company I ordered the car from (priceline) lied saying I should get a car with 9 seats. Only when I showed him the confirmation email I had when it say 9 seater car, he was willing to create a new order. This along took about 30 more minutes. When I went to take the car from the parking it was not ready, so I needed to wait about 20 more minutes until someone brought it to the parking lot. When they brought the car I noticed that the fuel tank was not completely full. This is just the pick up - it took about 2 hours of my first vacation day! The next morning the car gave me a sign that there is a problem with the engine (with a red stop sign). I called the service where a lady called Paula gave me support and tried to understand the problem (as I wrote, she was very kind!). She found that the car was not Dutch (but German, this is why it took her a little more time to find the car in the system). She directed me to a garage to diagnose the problem. I was very annoyed at this point because I was with the entire family in the car (including 2 little kids) and that it was going to ruin the day. I went to the garage and they hooked it up with a computer that didn't find a real problem. I was out after a delay of one hour and a half that day. The day after (that was a rainy day) I found out that the rear windscreen wiper was missing - I tied a plastic nylon to it to stop scratching the glass. Overall I felt that the car was not prepared for renting.Reviewed Jun 30 2017

Nightmare rental and ruined our Christmas.Cons:We picked up the rental and immediately noticed the poor condition of vehicle. I told attendant and they said there was nothing that could be done. When arriving to our hotel and the city areas we noticed it wasn't going into gear properly. The valet attendant at the hotel also mentioned to us that something was wrong. We notified the company immediately and after 4 hours of waiting for a mechanic to show we decided to go get our kids something to eat. When we got back the mechanic had come and took the car with our personal belongings. Car seat, stroller and baby carrier and bag well over $1,000 worth of things. I had to pay over $100 in cab fees and call the police to get my things back from the company. This was all on Christmas Day. No one tried to fix or make this up to us. They did not care at all. I ended up having to spend $700 more in a rental because that's all that was available with another company at short notice on Christmas. I don't understand how people can be so cold hearted and inconsiderate.Reviewed Jan 6 2017

Exceptional customer servicePros:The pick up and drop off processes were super fast and friendly. I am not used to driving European cars and they answered a few questions that I felt were...lets say "basic", without making me feel like an idiot. The man at the vehicle return was very nice as well and informed me where the nearest gas station was so that I could fill up and return quickly before my reservation expired and I would have to pay for the gas refill.Reviewed Jun 6 2018

Long wait times at Schiphol Rental CarPros:The drop off procedure was quick and simple.Cons:A 70-minute wait at the car rental desk to pick up the car was excessive, especially considering we came off an intercontinental flight. The desk staff was very slow to deal with customers. We were offered a more expensive car when we finally went up to the desk, and when we answered that we wanted our original rental category, they gave us the more expensive car anyway because the other car was not available. Won't rent from Budget at Schiphol again.Reviewed Jul 28 2016

Cons:Windshield wipers were in poor condition which caused poor visibility with rain in the dark. Windshield wiper nozzles were not spraying on the windshield but under the wipers, making them useless. Other than that vehicle was okayReviewed Jan 6 2020
