B&B Le 36

Nice surroundings. It is a B&B in a vila area outside Brussels, next to forests. Calm. Very clean. Host very welcoming at reception. Come 10 'o clock in the morning and time to go the host was less welcoming with questions like when we were planning to leave and pay, almost to the level of suspicion despite us offering to pay at arrival the evening before.

Highly overrated B&B and way too expensive for the comfort offered. To our unpleasant surprise there was a 25 euro surcharge for an 8 year old kid that ate two pieces of bread and a glass of orange juice. Cash was the only payment option. The upstairs double bed is large and comfortable however the downstairs extra bed is an overused budget foam rubber matras in a noisy wooden frame. Completely unsuitable for sleeping. The surcharge for our child is double the real market value of this bed. The small breakfast table is surrounded with uncomfortable chairs. The large sofa offers no sitting support: you just sink into it. The place heats up poorly. We were there at the end of September and have been cold all the time. Moreover it looks like the heating is related to the heating of the host in the connecting main house. If she turns down her heating than you have no heating too. At least that is what we experienced in the morning. Despite at maximum position and the room cold, the heaters were off. Breakfast was basic although good in quantity, bread not day fresh. There was 3 types of marmalade, Actimel, cheese and ham). Only orange juice was freshly made. No (other) fruit. No egg(s). The pictures shown with these products are deceiving. Coffee is Dolce Gusto DIY. Milk was not provided by the host (did not ask for either). There is a noice making fridge but the fridge has no needed function: there is nothing in it apart from 1 water bottle and you cannot cook at the place. Practical detail to know: the toilet is downstairs from the upstairs bedroom through a spiral stairway. This can be dangerous at night :-) Hosts serves breakfast in your room. In essential that is a very nice gesture but can also constitute a potential breach in privacy: the host has full acces to the room any time from the (her) main house. She enters your room at the agreed time for breakfast and can come in any time she likes to clean up with just a small knock on the door.
