6,3 Good
Pros: the staff was amazing, especially orlando and the other male waiter. manager was nice too. zebu filet was the best one in whole madagascar!
Cons: the other clients were disgusting! a lot of old french men with very young women + old french man coughing and spitting under tables, nobody wants to see or hear that. ham and cheese plate consisted of 5 slices of sausage and 3 slices of cheese.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Charming hotel, wonderful staff and breakfast
4,5 Okay
Cons: Bathroom smelt mouldy. Kitchen service was slow. Breakfast was poor quality - no eggs, no fresh pastry when there's a bakery just up the road!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great central location, though need to be careful going out at night. Amazing restaurant. Breakfast was great, though sometimes didn't have everything (e.g. fruit salad)
Cons: Restaurant very loud at times. Walls were thin, could hear people in hallway. Needed to use earplugs and was woken up at midnight and 1 a.m. on more than one occasion.
7,5 Good
Pros: The welcome from staff is excellent. Food is great. Restaurant atmosphere is great.
Cons: Climbing the narrow stares. Slow internet. Towels no more white. Many mosquitoes.
7,0 Good
Pros: Restaurant at the hotel was excellent. Room was very large with good aircon.
Cons: We were in the annex which was over the road fro the main hotel and had an open staircase that anyone could enter so not sure about security. Towels in the room were scruffy and the mugs in the room were dirty.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast - more food than I could eat (had enough for a lunch sandwich), well-priced, good coffee. Nice having a bar/restaurant; however I couldn't use the bar or patio area because of sensitivity to cigarette smoke. Comfortable bed. I appreciated the spacious and functional work area in the room. Pre-stay correspondence online was helpful and responsive.
Cons: I thought it looked tired overall and not what I expected from the photos on-line. The place has nice personality from its decorating, but where is the maintenance? Would have given a 5* on cleanliness except the black mold in the bathroom is beyond belief. Toilet paper holder falling off the wall, toilet rocking... did not even have a functional soap dispenser. I stayed another night at a hotel near the airport, and paid 30% less for a better-maintained updated hotel.
6,3 Good
Pros: The #1 reason to stay at La Ribaudière is the restaurant. The Raclette was amazing! Really some of the best food we ate in Madagascar. Given that you can't walk around Tana after dark, it pays to stay at a place with a such a great restaurant. Rooms were reasonably priced for the location, which was close to market and ideal for venturing into Tana.
Cons: The rooms were meh. Nothing special and darkly lit. Mosquito nets didn't really fit around the beds and therefore weren't very effective. Restaurant was also filled with mosquitos. Restaurant staff seemed a little over it.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The room was very cosy and the bed comfortable ! The restaurant had really good food . Location is very close to city centre and easily walkable the the town square . We only spent one night here . The staff was very helpful . They helped us organise taxi to the airport and were helpful about other suggestions as well .
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located, though need to be cautious about going out alone at night. The guardians were very helpful in flagging down taxis though.
Cons: The sliding doors on the terasse didn't lock, I didn't know code to safe, and wasn't given code to WIFI the first night.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The chef - Mauritian - Best - top chef.
6,3 Good
Cons: Water not complementary. Room size very small.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful reception staff and good restaurant
5,0 Okay
Pros: good location
Cons: bed was terrible - like a hammock; standard rooms are small; hotel under renovation - but for 4 star rated - it could be better; nevertheless Spa, swimming pool and sauna are perfect
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, lunch and dinner we're all excellent. The coffee especially, after a lot of local coffee (not a knock on Madagascar coffee, I'm just not use to it), was great. The spa was nicely laid out and enjoyable.
Cons: The gym was very small and didn't end up using it. Note: the attendants were on their game and offered me a towel and water bottle immediately upon arrival. We had a late departure and discussed our options with the front desk. They informed us for half the price we paid for the room we could keep it until 7pm. When we checked out at 7pm we ended up paying the same price as a full day. The miscommunication occurred because we booked online (70 euros) not at the hotel (135 euros). "Half price" to the front desk meant half their usual rate, which is 72 euros. For us this was full price. Unfortunately had we known we may not have elected to take them up on their offer and ultimately felt a little cheated. To mitigate this issue the staff should provide the price of the extended stay in euros, and avoid stating it relative to something else (which may be variable).
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Inner swimming pool and spa are good and reception is helpful.
Cons: I have to leave alarm message for all foreigner that we have been arrested near to downstairs of Jardin Antaninarenina (just in front of Hotel Le Louvre) on the intersection of Lalana Paul Dussac by two national polices after dinner in the restaurant La Ribaudiere around 19 pm, and one of these two polices asked us to show them the passport and threatening to bring us to police station to pay for the fine 37 euros per person if i can not show them our passport. Be careful they were bad guy just asking to paying for them money and i refused to give them money but asked them to bring me go to police station together to pay for that fine properly but after more than 20 minutes walking in the night on the dark street we have reached a corner and that young police guy finally told us that office is closed and let us to leave without having any money from us. I said to them thank you very much and asked them why they did not know their police station office closing time when they told me that we have to go to police office to pay for that fine?? shame on him and he made Madagascar Police force shameful and stupid.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast no international, have only 2-3 kind of foods and same in everyday. The location are goods.
Cons: The room to small for 2 person, some days are noisy from music can't sleep, have smoking smell from other room in sometime, and didn't have water complementary in everyday should request.
5,5 Okay
Pros: Location and spa l
Cons: Bed is not comfortable , water pressure is very low in the wash room
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very good cuisine, nice apartment with terrace, professional staff with good English and really nice SPA

7,5 Good
Pros: The location is great, staff friendly and helpful
4,5 Okay
Cons: Unpleasant staff, slow service, no as in the gym. Really disappointed.
7,0 Good
Pros: location
Cons: I probably stayed in the cheapest room in this luxury hotel, lower floor in the old building with an awful wall view behind the kitchen. Staff was not great, unusual for this hospitable country. Did not have breakfast which would have cost me $17.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed often in this hotel over the last twenty years and I like the location and the good food in both restaurants.
Cons: The view from the room was not interesting but this changes from room to room.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: This hotel is more than a waste of money: the old fruits during the breakfast led to diarrhea for three days. The lounger in the spa, caused flea bites. And the ancient facility, especially the WC, would have to be several decades old. Extremely unfriendly cashier at the reception. In summary, I can suggest every different hotel, as an even worse hotel is almost impossible
7,5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was wholesome and filling. Good quality of cereals, for those of us who do not like eggs for breakfast, as well as French patisserie.
Cons: However, the options could be more (given it is a 4star), especially for non-dairy adherents. They did not have any alternative plant-based milks.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The hotel is a large, sprawling place with little boutique shops etc
Cons: Signage for finding the room was difficult to spot, the room I stayed in was old and in dire need of a makeover. Water was terrible and often cold.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The pastry shop is excellent! Really worth the visit. The big plus is the spa and the pool. Perfect relaxation after a day's work.
Cons: Some rooms are old and somewhat cold in winter
7,0 Good
Pros: Very friendly polite staff
9,3 Excellent
Pros: some of the rooms have a very nice view on the city. there is a quite good bakery in the hotel. it is generally a nice hotel to stay in.
Cons: long waiting times at the reception. water for bath is not clear (probably a city issue).

10,0 Excellent
Pros: It‘s super super good location, just in the center of city, could go anywhere on foot, and can eat pretty good around the hotel, local food or france food. The staff here are very kind and speaking good English.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The dormitory was very clean. The staff was unbelievably efficient, courteous, and extremely helpful: they managed to help in all sort of problems and necessities I had during my stay. The restaurant/bar was very nice and food of good quality. I would recommend the chicken curry and the Thai chicken. The manager, Joel, was very efficient and always attentive to any needs that I had. The barmen/women were similarly very friendly: I played pool at least a couple of times with one of them and I also. Ma aged to win at least once. All members of the staff spoke some English, some remarkably well, on top of French and Malagasy. I also had my laundry perfectly done in less than one day. In addition, the hotel is few steps away from the Analakely market, many good restaurants and bars, two of the best ice cream parlors in Tana, Honey and Blanche Niege, and other attractions such as the Soarano Station, the pirate museum and others. Many taxis are available outside the hotel, and for those more adventurous, Taxi-be stops with service to many part of the city are close by. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a budget.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel de L'Avenue - Tana City Centre is a very clean and safe accomodation, located right where it says, in the Tana City centre. The staff is very kind, friendly and do all they can to make you feel welcome, safe and cared for. I truly recommend Hotel de L'Avenue as a base to explore Tana.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good. the location was good. Very close to where we wanted to be.
Cons: The hotel staff didn't communicated very well with the other staff. or with us One person would tell us one thing and the other would tell us something else. One young lady at the desk was apparently afraid we wouldn't pay and asked to keep our passport. We told her no, she could make a copy but not keep it. Later, the head woman apologized so that was good. we paid extra for breakfast to be included but the first morning the server wanted us to pay for the meal so we had some confusion there but it was eventually straightened out. Also we asked to stay an extra night and there was a lot of confusion about whether we paid or not and they should have had a clear record.
6,8 Good
Pros: Reasonably priced for what you get.
Cons: We requested early breakfast but it took so long for them to take our order and bring any food (as well as them not having most of the items on the menu), that we had to leave without eating.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean place. Wi-Fi connection was stable. The stuff was super friendly and hospitable
Cons: No hot water and the avenue was very noisy all the night
7,0 Good
Pros: central location, large lounge/bar.
Cons: Building word outside the hotel that started around 08.00am.
7,0 Good
Pros: The hotel is right in the center of the capital city and easy to reach. The dorm was spacious
Cons: First of all 6 of 8 dorm beds are not beds. They are just camping beds with a 5 cm foam on top and therefore very hard, small and uncomfortable. Second it seemed that the female and male dorm are actually the same room. There are no doors to keep them seperate from each other. There are better dorms in this town. Breakfast location was a mess, full of plenty chairs and tables with hardly any right spot to eat comfortable. The breakfast itself was good
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location in the city center! everything was great
9,3 Excellent
Pros: I slept in the dorms in a comfortable double bed and had no other people in my room. The breakfast was good and the staff was really helpful and friendly
Cons: There isn't always hot water and no musquito net in my room. Better pay in euros because the exchange rate isn't great .

Hotel Brajas - Antananarivo - Building

7,5 Good (230 reviews)

With a stay at Hotel Brajas, you'll be centrally located in Antananarivo, just a 3-minute walk from Faravohitra Church and 5 minutes by foot from Is'Art Galerie. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. 10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel employees are very friendly and helpful. Speaking good english, flexible and willing to help anytime. Food was good as well and has good price. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in the city centre, close to the market. Also offers reliable airport transfer with good price. Had a very nice time :)
Cons: Breakfast should be prepared better: yu can have breakfast until 10:00am, however 8:45am is already barely anything left. A better refill would be nice. The bathroom is really pretty, however needs a DOOR / closed walls. Some stuff needs some more privacy than a bamboo courtain...
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The lady in the lobby were so kind when she borrowed her own mosquito net. Thank you!breakfast info could be more out front because apparently we could have ordered something from the kitchen (I saw one man doing that) so I was left a but hungry.
Cons: That the mosquito net wasn't available from the hotel.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is centrally located and it is walking distance of the Independence square and ATMs. The terrace wit the the sow is a perfect little hideaway in the evening - if you don’t mind the hustle and bustle of the street. It has lovely clean rooms with little thoughtful extras in bathrooms like proper shampoo, hairdryer, moisturiser. Lovely wooden floor - quaint, clean and well presented. Staff are very helpfu and very patient with the non French speakers!
Cons: The food in the hotel is not great. You will be able to get much MUCH better food for the same money within 50 metres of the hotel - be it breakfast, lunch or evening meal. Food in Tana is so increadibly good - this hotel could do a lot better. However - if we ever come back we will almost certainly stay there again :) possibly eat elsewhere though ..
5,8 Okay
Pros: The location is amazing and the breakfast is very good, variety.
Cons: The noise (wooden floors) and lack of privacy, music too loud (up to 11pm) Lack of 2 single beds and rooms tidy
7,5 Good
Pros: Pleasant room; kettle/tea/coffee; OK breakfast; balcony; coffee was very good. Internet connection not bad. Helpful reception staff who spoke English.
Cons: Bathroom was a bit odd in that there was no privacy at all, just a see-through blind to pull down. Fine if alone; less fine if sharing, even with a partner. Floor outside room had broken and uneven tiles - bit unsafe.
6,8 Good
Cons: The bed it was not clean but totally the room it was clean , so noisy around , even when the people walk in the corridor, they have a parker and that it could be change because of the noise
7,0 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff, OK restaurant.
Cons: The restaurant is agonizingly slow when it comes to serving food. In the hotel, the walls are rather thin, so one may hear noises from above or from the corridor.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff .
Cons: The breakfast.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy rooms with working air conditioning and sound proof windows. The Woden floor was a little bit squeaky but that added a little bit of authenticity to my stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Cons: As usual, most of Tana’s hotels have a limited breakfast variety and Brajas was no exception. Having no lifts is a bit of a task for the faint hearted.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: They provided very good toiletries. They made arrangements for things you could forget like toothpaste, toothbrush, comb etc.
Cons: The fruit juice was too watery and too sugary.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very warm staff and welcoming

9,3 Excellent
Pros: My pork chop meal for dinner was clean, delicious and filling. The staff is always very helpful and hospitable. The location is also convenient for reaching many downtown locations. Finally, the gym is very well serviced and a hard-to-find commodity in this area.
Cons: The bed was a little hard and the breakfast was strange. The options for dinner were excellent, but I would have preferred more meat and less bread for the breakfast. Also it would have helped me to have the gym open earlier than 0700.
3,8 Mediocre

7,0 Good

7,5 Good
Pros: One of Hotels who includes breakfast in the hotel room cost in Madagascar. Mosquito net available.
Cons: We were informed that omelette is an extra. Room needs small refurbishment. New bed sheet (fitted sheet instead of flat sheet), duvet instead of blanket, etc...
