Only one word excellent!!!!!
It was a joy to stay at the pitti. The room was clean, fresh and very well appointed. Matteo, Luigi, Domenico. Louiga, Nicoletta and all if the other staff, too many to remember, were fantastic! They made our stay feel really special even though they were rushed off their feet each day with wedding parties. They were a joy to meet and get to know.
Nothing could have been better
An amazing location, the property itself is over 500 years old. Not only are the views great, the rooms retain original features such as frescos on the ceilings, and then there’s the cellars, where you have breakfast, wow. A truly special place. Throw in an Italian wedding and it’s very memorable. The wedding didn’t disturb our evening. I’ve not mentioned the outside spaces, there’s plenty of room to wander off although we were only here for one night, so didn’t go far. The food was excellent, as was the local sparkling wine and the red wine. The service was top class. Attentive but not in-your-face. OK, let me put the food into perspective. The best meal I have ever had was in Serendipity (Wilderness, South Africa). To get there is 12 hours flying, 6 hours driving. The meal at I Luoghi di Pitti was not far behind that. Both surpass any Michelin starred restaurant I’ve eaten in.
The closest thing to a negative was that we didn’t know the wedding would have a fireworks display, so were woken up by it... But then we got to enjoy a fireworks display :) , so it’s not really a negative. It lasted maybe 5 minutes and then silence and back to sleep.
Staff was very kind and supportive. We missed pool and long chairs to sit outside. We were the only guests, more a location for weddings than for hotel guests.
We were not told that we were the only guests
Three main reasons: the staff, the staff and… the staff. From the highest in charge to the last and youngest of the employees, they all and at any given moment in attendance, to make your stay - a perfect experience. The outstanding among them all is undoubtfully Horatio, that gives the feeling that he’d waited all his adult life, for your arrival, big CHAPEAU!
Sometimes, small practicalities (e.g. shelves in the bathroom) are compromised, in favor of the overall ultramodern room design.
