I was given a smaller car than the one I reserved. Don’t fall into the same trap, it feels like this maybe a standard ploy. It was too small for the number of passengers and bags but when I returned to the Alamo desk it had closed for the night so we had an extremely uncomfortable 2 hour journey. The Alamo staff at the desk had tried to make out that the car I was given was the same size by showing me a picture on a screen - in reality it was considerably smaller and it was dishonest of them to suggest that it was an appropriate alternative for the car I reserved. My booking was for a Renault Espace or equivalent; the car provided was an Opel Grandland with a luggage capacity of 1624 litres versus 2224 litres for the espace. Worse was to follow. When I tried to phone the Zurich airport Alamo office using any of the numbers provided or available online, there was no answer, simply an automated message saying no agents were available. I emailed and raised ticket enquiries through the website which were finally answered 3 days later and when I ended up physically returning the car for a larger one the correct size (a 4 hour round trip) the customer service agent was surly, telling me that she had served me originally and that I had agreed to take the car she offered. A truly appalling experience but must shocking of all is the lack of contact ability post hire and the sheer rudeness / lack of apology from the staff. Awful.Reviewed Sept 7 2026

The drop off agent was exceptional. The pickup process was poor. One agent with 6 people in que. one customer took 15 minutes. Finally two additional agents stepped in. Accelerated fast check in did not work for me. Car had a lot of minor scratch marks which I don’t care about other than concern of being charged. The biggest issues is after 10 minutes of leaving I received a low fuel notification and had to find a gas station. I was expecting a full tank.Reviewed Sept 4 2026

It was great, except when i was exited with my vehicle, one of the agent was very disrespectful and underestimate me as a customer. when i was leaving with my own vehicle he dare to tell me that was not my vehicle he questioned that i was leaving with Alamo vehicle even though i presented my registration. However, i was with my daughter and i was in a good mood i did not start a scene.Reviewed Aug 29 2026

Easy to pick up and return. They also suggested me to pay a little more so I don’t have filled it with gas when I return the car. I accepted this offer and I payed for that because I hate to have more stress on my last day looking for a gas station to fill it up. You never know if you are going to have the time to do that. I usually are worried about getting to the airport and not losing my flight. What could have been better? To provide more instructions when returning the car. Using Google Maps I found out how to drive and return the car. But it could help to have a drawing of the building showing where do I drive in and what I will see going in there. Google Maps help a lot but doesn’t provide a foto of the entrance to return cars. Also, I saw a lady backing up her car away from the “scary metal blades that could destroy the tires”. If you provide a picture of that telling that it is okay to enter with your car and drive over those blades when returning the car, that would help a lot of people that are not familiar with these things.Reviewed Aug 27 2026

First reservation confirmed by formal email, but found out no cars available when coming for pick-up. I finally got a car after 2 days of waiting. Personnel blaming the system for not working and constantly complaining about their work conditions, or other colleagues being absent. Was probably given fake info about the impact of not taking extra-insurance. Level of English of some employees was very poor. Forgot my reading glasses in the car when bringing it back, employee did not inspect the car properly. Absolutely unhelpful the next day when I came to collect them. Refused to call their colleagues or the car driver to assist me and refused to provide me a phone number to follow-up pretending it was not allowed by law in Spain. Lastly, the personal is the same for every car rental company except Hertz at the Salamanca train station.Reviewed Aug 25 2026
